I bought this to see if I'd enjoy laser engraving. The laser has done everything I expected. I love trying new things and seeing what happens. The power is very limited, so glass and metal don't work well, if at all, but most other materials are fine. Easy to put together, easy instructions, easy to use. I have already upgraded and still plan to use one daily for rotary and less detailed projects. Update after 9 months - a total workhorse and part of my business. Very manual setup and requires much more babysitting compared to my other lasers, but still does quality work. I love this one and use it daily for specific orders.

Assembly was very straightforward, as I was following a YouTube Build video. The booklet was useful at critical points. Apart from missing a grub screw, no problems. Works well with LigtBurn. I recommend it to DIY types with sensible minds and a dedicated workspace

Assembly wasn't too bad, but instructions could have been better. Runs LaserGRBL just fine, but expect a bit of a learning curve if your new to that kind of software. Engraving quality is also very decent for the money. So far I've really only used it on wood, but with the laser on 20-30% power it leaves pretty clean engravings in soft and hardwood.

Picked this up because I wanted to get into laser engraving metal without spending a fortune. I was impressed right out of the box. Assembly was simple. It took maybe an hour at most. Instructions were clear enough, and everything lined up like it should. No missing screws or damaged parts. Got it hooked up to LightBurn and had it running without much fuss. Software plays nice with the machine, and it didn’t take long to figure out the basics. If you’ve ever used a printer or CNC, this feels pretty familiar. The 1064nm module is no joke. I’ve used it on metal dog tags, coated cups, and even some little trinkets for the kids. Clean engravings. Just load the file, focus the laser, and let it do its thing. If you’re looking to make personalized stuff and don’t want a giant learning curve, this machine gets it done. It’s become one of those tools I keep going back to.

Like others have stated, there is a known problem with the late 2020 and early 2021 Laser Master 2's and their mother boards failing. The Ortur support group on Facebook has quite a few people posting on there regarding the exact same issues from Nov 2020 to early Feb 2021. I was recommended by other owners/users that I should've grounded the laser. No where in the manual, websites, Amazon or packaging does Ortur recommend this. The laser does not have any ground cables, comes with a 2 prong US plug and seems very sensitive to static electricity and voltage fluctuations. Example, do not turn anything on or off that is on the same circuit as the laser, else kiss your mother board good bye. I successfully engraved 1 logo on one of the sample pieces of wood that came with the kit. On day 2 the laser will not turn off and continuously burn holes into the material to be engraved at 100% power (major fire hazard if you are not paying attention). Only way to turn the laser off at this point is to disconnect the USB and Power cables. Laser is now engraving/burning areas that should not be engraved (laser does not turn off when moving). Laser will randomly stop and loose connection to my Mac even though LightBurn thinks the laser is still connected and running, even after switching USB cables. Ortur support seems ok. They do reply to messages. But I now have an investment sitting on my table that is not safe to operate and will not work correctly for almost 2 weeks and still yet to receive a tracking number on a new mother board. I do not know the exact price for a replacement mother board, but I have read in numerous places that they are costing users that purchased this from elsewhere around $100 a mother board. This is a very cool laser and I have a lot of jobs I would like to engrave and cut with it so I will be returning it in hopes that I will receive a newer model with an upgraded mother board and fingers crossed that this issue won't happen again.

I am a wood worker, and have been looking at lasers for 3-4 years to add to my shop. Problem was CO2 Lasers have been so expensive, it has kept me on the fence. I saw this diode laser (20w Input - 5.5w Output) with very good reviews. I thought the design and range (15."+ X 15."+) at this price point would be a good learning start. I was right. This has exceeded my expectations. For wood etching, it is great. All type of lettering, graphic designs, and photos work very very well. I use Lightburn software, still in my 30 Day Free Trail. I will purchase at the end of the 30 Days, the G-Code version at $40. You do need some kind of photo editing software to prep photos to B&W, sharpen, and erase out unneeded backgrounds for the best laser burn results (I use PhotoShop Elements).

Seems pretty easy to set up and start using right out of the box. You do have to pay attention to the rails when you install them. So far everything I have burned looks amazing. Update 12/20/24: My laser would not turn on after using for 3 months. contacted Ortur and there Customer service was excellent. we diagnosed the problem and they sent me the new part and we are back in business. giving them 5 stars for the great customer support.
