I'm a dental hygienist and at 42 am now in traditional bracket/wire braces. I'll be honest, generally speaking the first few days are extremely uncomfortable so the best thing for that pain/disconfort is over the counter meds and cold/soft foods. That being said, I'm very familiar with dental wax and it's applications and found like many focus groups that it can be messy and hard to work with/keep on. This is such a wonderful alternative and although I only show one in the photo for reference, they are in every area I had wear spots and they have eliminated the irritation! They are a bit slippery like silicone when you first put them in, but I might recommend resting them on your tongue to get them moist (which is on the directions) and if you're able, use your tongue to push it against the area you want relief and then grip and press with your fingers onto the bracket/band prongs/etc. The only trade off of course is the wasteful packaging and fact that you'll have to change these EVERYTIME you eat so they don't harbor bacteria that can cause cavities. They turn into a wax like material that comes off as easily as traditional wax when removing. They're a bit pricey, but for the first few days/weeks until your cheek tissue develops resiliency against the new appliance in your mouth....they are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! 😁

I can’t say enough about this product. It’s awesome compared to the traditional wax. OrthaDots are inside individual packages. Take it out package, place it on your braces with a little pinch. It stays on while eating, drinking and brushing your teeth. No more swelling wax or wax falling out. This is not recommended but it can stay one for days. Pinch it on the braces and go. Love it, love it, love it. My gums are injured free.

I have adult braces and I recently had molar bands installed. The bands scratch my tongue, are very painful, and create sores. My dentist suggested dental wax and salt water rinse. The traditional dental wax would not stay in place and I've swallowed so much wax I feel like a human candle. These are very easy to apply and do stay in place. I can apply them right to the protruding part of the molar band and they "grip". The stay put while drinking cold beverages, but they do not stay in place with warm beverages or while eating. I think they are costly - but they are worth the price for the relief they have given my tongue. The ad said they stay put while eating - that hasn't been my experience which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. But they do work very well!

WHERE HAVE THESE BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE! Guys, these are amazing! I’m 32, have had braces 3 times, and these bad boys are where it’s at! Let’s talk Wax, it’s not the easiest to use. It doesn’t always stick or stay, and you have to get your braces dry..it’s a pain. (However, wax is free from your orthodontist. That being said-I’d spend $25 on these again-no questions asked.) I won’t even get started on the molar braces, those are impossible to get wax to cover and stay on! After a few weeks of using wax you get use to it, become a pro, but not everyone uses wax everyday on their braces-it’s for those odd ball days something happens and you can’t get seen or your appointments next week. You forgot how to use the wax, and those first weeks you became a pro using it, well you’ve lost the magic and are back to learning how to get it to stick all over again. These dots are clear! Can’t see them once on-I personally love that because I have clear braces, keeps everything on the down low. Also, they are fast (2-3 seconds), super easy to use, and so smooth! The texture soothes the wounds you may have or poking wires/brackets causing pain. They “melt” onto the braces with the slightest push-after a few seconds you can then start to mold them-pushing from side to side, up or down-this allows you to thin them out or cover the next bracket. I love these for the molars! They are a pain to reach, dry, and get wax to mold too. With these dots it’s a walk In the park-instant relief. Only downfall I will say, they don’t stay on any better than wax-they came off with eating just as wax did. However, that wasn’t a deal breaker for me. These save me the 20minutes I take putting wax on, and then reattempting because it doesn’t stick. Worth a shot! You won’t regret that you did :)

These are far better than the regular wax, it helps with braces discomfort and stays in place longer than the wax. Optimum performance. However, they are very expensive and the little box just bring a few. I cannot cover all my braces with one box. I always need extras to cover the back, where the wire ends and sticks out. I don’t think I buy them again unless the price goes down.

I was skeptical that these would work. They were pricey, especially when the orthodontist gives you free wax. But my son has one tooth that sticks out in front of other teeth, and I was worried that the brackets would rub on his gums, so I bought them to keep on standby in case he needed them. He has ceramic braces, and on the third day of having them, that one spot was really bugging him. The wax just wasn't sticking, so we got these out to try. I tried to get one to stick but had trouble; he got a second one out and got it to stick immediately. It stuck so well, in fact, that it has now been on for about 12 hours! It has stayed on through two showers, lots of talking, and three meals! When it lasts that long, it makes it much more worth the value! Very impressed!

I got these for my two pre-teens and they love them! My daughter was using the wax they give you at the orthodontist but it took too much time and precision to put it on. These OrthoDots are fast and easy to use! I will be buying these for the next 3 years!

These do stay on well but are not a great solution if you have many brackets to cover. Applying individually is tedious, not to mention the cost of them. These aren’t a good, long-term solution for someone who plays an instrument.
