Ortho Home Defense Insect Killer for Indoor & Perimeter2 kills common household bugs such as ants, beetles, centipedes, cockroaches, crickets, fleas, flies, millipedes, mosquitoes, moths, spiders, stink bugs, ticks, termites, periodical cicadas and more (as listed). This insect killer creates a bug barrier for up to 12 months protection against ants, roaches and spiders indoors on non-porous surfaces. In addition, the Invisi-Shield Technology formula gives off no fumes, dries clear and dries fast. Use this pest control product anytime as a preventative treatment or after you see evidence of insect activity for long lasting-control. Apply indoors in kitchens and bathrooms or around doors and windows, and outdoors to the foundation perimeters, patios, decks, garages and wherever insects are a recurring problem. For indoor surfaces, hold sprayer 12 inches from surface being sprayed and apply a 4-inch wide band, or use a 12-inch wide band when applying to a home perimeter. This is a very good quality bug spray. I use it indoors, and outdoors for a perimeter spray. It works extremely well against ants, and spiders. It has a bit of a smell to it especially when you do your whole house in one go at it. It dries about as fast as water, and the instructions are pretty simple to follow. This particular bottle of it has a top that you have to turn in order to get the flow to work. In addition to that you need to turn the tip on the sprayer. It basically works just like a regular spray bottle. There's no pumping required. I have been using this stuff for at least 20 years. This was a very good value for the amount that I got which is one gallon. One bottle really goes a long way. If you don't want it to dry up then you have to turn off the knob on top of the bottle. Otherwise if you don't use it very often then you will come back to it, and the straw will be clogged. I always pray about one or two rooms at a time and then vacate for a while until it dries up and smell goes away. If you do your whole house all in one day then you probably want to stay out of there for several hours. Basically move everything against the wall out of the way so that you can spray along the floor and wall. I also like to do this in window sills, and anywhere that I think a bug might find a home. Once it's dry, and the air clears out then it doesn't really leave a smell after that. It also does not stain carpet, and it's completely clear. It will not leave any residue that you can actually see. When you use it make sure that your pets aren't anywhere around it, and your kids too. It only works with crawling bugs unless you can find their nest. It will get rid of bees but you want to spray it when they're not around in the morning or late in the evening. If it's dark then they won't bother you. I'm going to give it five stars.

Edit 3/19/23: The company replied to my concern & stated that the roaches will die in 24 hours & prevent from coming in. Honestly, I have not seen one roach since I used this - prob 3 weeks ago? I just wish they had changed the name to “within 24 hours or so” instead of “kills on contact,” - inaccurate description. Otherwise, I’m satisfied & think that it’s effective. Plus it has no smell so it makes me believe it’s greener than most chemicals. Who knows. I was excited to use this because it said it works on contact so I assumed it’s powerful. I put it to the rest & a tiny roach that I drenched, almost drowned in this still kept moving after maybe 2 minutes. I had to kill it & stopped waiting for it to work because the roach was on its way to a crevice. Did I do something wrong? I shake it really well. I’m thinking I got a watered down item??? I am so disappointed & I almost never write a bad review on anything. If Amazon want to look at my reviews, I’m pretty fair & forgiving. I really want this to work & I don’t know what else to get without baiting the roach & for me to see it dead in random places. It gives me the heebie jeebies. So I want to spray ‘em on contact with something POTENT!

I recently purchased the Ortho Home Defense Insect Killer and have been using it for a short while. While it's still too early to make a definitive judgment, I'm already seeing promising results that warrant a positive review. The trigger sprayer that comes with the product is convenient and easy to use. It provides a consistent spray, ensuring even coverage across the surfaces I'm targeting. The non-staining and odor-free formula is a big plus, as I can apply it without worrying about leaving marks or unpleasant smells around my home. In terms of effectiveness, I've noticed a decrease in the insect activity around my home. While I can't say for certain that all the targeted pests are completely gone, the reduction in sightings of ants, cockroaches, and spiders is a positive sign. Fleas and ticks have also become less of an issue for my pets, which is a relief. The long-lasting control claim is something I'm looking forward to witnessing over time. When I moved in to a new rental house, I was thrilled! Until I met the palmetto bugs of south carolina. They're big, spooky, and were everywhere outside. I had to get rid of them. I had little sticky traps before and I was changing the traps every few days just from how many of these there were. I began spraying this on my screen porch and immediately sprayed one of the palmettos, and in 10 seconds it flopped on its back dead. So far so good. I started establishing a perimeter around my porch and then slowly expanding the perimeter as I moved outwards. After about 30 minutes of spraying I wasnt even close to being through the bottle but I was satisfied with my coverage. I let it dry for an hour and I was literally amazed. 4 dead palmettos already. And I wasnt terrified of going outside on the porch to just enjoy the outdoors in fear of a giant skittering creature. I then moved to the front door and began spraying there as well, putting down a good perimeter again. I noticed there were no more spiders after a day as well. I've only seen one palmetto since which I chased down with the spray and reinforced my perimeter again about a week after initial application. It most definitely works For me, its worked on stinkbugs, palmetto bugs, ants and spiders. I'm no amazing pest controller and I know there have been some holes in my perimeter but I've just sprayed a little more when I find somewhere I've missed and this stuff has been great! I do need to start in on the source of these palmettos which is the space under my porch (I suspect) and potentially the crawl space under the house which I have no access to. But I can get under the porch with a longer sprayer and I'm confident that by the end of spring, I'll be palmetto free!

This stuff works great. Any time I have had bug invasions (mostly roaches and ants), I just spray some of this around the sightings, and the bugs soon show up - actually belly up! Works quickly and effectively. I bought this because it is pet and child friendly which was critical for me, so I am glad it works so well too. The last jug I bought seemed to last forever (actually I think I have a little bit left in it), but with summer here, I stocked up. The sprayer is different from the last jug, and I actually had to find the directions to install the nozzle on this one, but once that was done, no problem. Incidentally, the instructions are on a sticker pressed flat on the bottle, so it seems like a label. It actually peels off and gives product information as well as instructions to attach the nozzle. Pretty easy once you read the instructions. Really happy with this again.

I waited a while before doing this review, as they say that dramatic results wouldn't be instantaneous. Had some neighbors move in above me and not long after I started to see roaches in my apartment. After using those bug foggers multiple times with no success I moved on to this product. I used this all over my apartment, including inside the vents, behind appliances, inside the cabinets, even outside along my apartment. While I started to notice a decrease in the daily critters I saw, it didn't last long. They started to come back as if I had never sprayed it. It also doesn't kill on contact. Almost as if the roach only dies because I drowned it in the product. Needless to say, this may work better for other bugs. And maybe because the people above me may be swarming in roaches and they just keep coming back. Had to call for a professional pest control service, and I use the plug-ins in my outlets that are supposed to emit wavelengths that keep them away. So I suggest only using this product for minor PREVENTATIVE measures. Not infestations.

I obviously recommend leaving the room after you've sprayed it for at least an hour. The smell isn't horrible, but I didn't stick around to test it out. I used a mask when spraying the area and let it sit and dry before coming back. The spray itself says that it dries in minutes for quick re-entry, but my family is sensitive to certain odors so we wanted to play it safe. I primarily used the spray inside, and it is definitely non-staining! I found a roach and tested it out directly on the bug itself -- and, yes, it did kill the cockroach! Keep in mind that cockroaches are social insects that use their pheromones to communicate with others. Waiting for the roaches to run away one by one and kill them won't work as they'll be alerted to the danger. I paired this spray with roach tape and was able to capture 4 of them running from the sprayed area in just under an hour. We've been using this spray for nearly two months now and I am nowhere near to running out. Works great!
