I didn't listen to other reviews regarding sizing true to size. With the sizing going up to 5X I assumed the sizing would be small maybe even asian sizing but I was wrong. For perspective, I am 5'6 and 198 lbs. I usually order a size XXL just so things won't be tight and so I can have a bit of room and allow for shrinkage. For this jacket I ordered the 5X. The jacket is pretty large on me. I might have roughly 12 inches of extra fabric if I have the jacket on and if I pull it to one side tight against me. That said, I didn't want to mess with returning it for a smaller size. I can work with the extra if I put my hands in my pockets I pull the extra in at the front. I wanted it a bit big as well in an attempt to avert the possibility of the seams fraying like I saw with other reviews. I figure if the jacket is larger then I won't have stress at the seams and I can layer under the jacket and have plenty of room. Final ruling....I LOVE this jacket even considering its pretty big on me. I gave it a test this morning at 35 degrees I did not feel cold air. I think part of the reason is that when the jacket is zippered up all the way part of the furry hood part wraps around my neck so no air escapes through my neck. Its like a scarf which really helps hold in the heat. I could feel the back of the hood up on the back of my head. The hood rests up fairly high. I didn't put the hood up but if I did I would be even warmer I'm sure. I will definitely purchase another one after this one wears out but I think I will go with a size 3X so that it will be smaller but still give me the extra room I like and help ease pressure on the seams. Okay so first off I saw this coat first when I went on a trip back home and was waiting in line during a blistering cold NY night when the woman in front of me had the coat on. I remember thinking I love that jacket and love those deep pockets. I tried to look to see a logo or anything and before I knew it my food was ready and I didn’t see a logo. To my surprise when I got back home (near Canadian border so it’s fureeeeezing in winter months) I was Amazon-ing and stumbled upon this coat. I STILL didn’t buy it because I wasn’t sure. Then my favorite blogger talked and raved about a coat she had bought. Well you guessed it it was this coat! I knew I had to go and order one. Im a 38DDD, 5’3 and a size 12 and super long arms. I got a L and a XL. So the L fits fine but for comfort I prefer the XL so I can wear a thick sweatshirt or sweater underneath it with room. I WORE THIS COAT EVEN NINE MONTHS PREGNANT because the sides expand!!!! BEST COAT EVER. SO SO SO WARM. Now my postpartum body is 40DDD and 14 and still FITS PERFECTLY. I have had this jacket for one year now and I love it! It still looks like new, and I have used it to death. It fits great, and by great, I mean the sleeves, cuffs and bottom of the jacket fit perfect, but the body of the jacket allows for layers underneath. The hood is amazing, soft and super warm. The jacket also has a ton of pockets. You do not need a purse when wearing this jacket. All of the pockets except the two by the waist are zippered, so nothing will fall out. There are two outside breast pockets, and two inside breast pockets, plus two outside lower zipper pockets. Each one of the pockets is big enough to hold a phone and then some. And the jacket has vertical zippers at the bottom so you can snug the jacket up even more to keep you toasty. Can't recommend this jacket enough. And I always get complements on it! ... show more

So. I'm one of those people who can fall into just about every size under the sun depending on the brand and item. I have geared towards this one over my pricier Marmot Montreal down feather jacket. The most 'specific' reference points: 36DD top size usually medium ~ xlarge pants can range 9-11, 6-10 depending I wanted a coat that I can wear in Colorado winters and feel like I'm in a large, snow-proof sleeping bag. Literally. I wanted it very oversized to fit ALL the layers, hoodies, cable knit sweaters, etc and still have extra wiggle room. 1. The hood actually fits my big ol' head and thick hair AND has extra room. I feel like I could hide in it. Even fits with a high pony tail. For once - a hood that actually blocks weather COMPLETELY. I'd say it's perfectly water-resistant. 2. The arms fit fine, no tightness or limited movement (then again I got the Large). 3. Here comes the awkward part. The length comes down to my upper mid-thighs (in the front), which I LOVE for winter... but due to the shape of the coat and it bowing inwards towards the bottom & where it hits, it's very, very awkward to bend down to pick anything up once the coat is zipped. It's like a high resistance training band around your legs. 4. It's VERY warm during peak Colorado winters, but I wish that the zipper had a flap beneath it to prevent any draft. All in all, it's so warm and plush. It's just what I wanted. A sleeping bag with arms. You'll be fine as long as you're not required to do jumping jacks... and don't drop anything. ... show more

Coat is pretty close to true size or slightly larger. If you're in between sizes you may want to consider sizing down. I usually wear a large, and the large coat fits perfect with a bulky sweatshirt on under it. The coat is a little "busy" with all the random zippers and buttons, but it's a good coat that won't break the bank. ... show more
