  • Comfortable, Functional, & Cool
Size: Small Color: Black
I LOVE this coat! It's cozy, comfortable, & keeps me nice & warm, despite my having the BMI of a praying mantis & an average body temperature of 97 degrees. I'm ALWAYS cold, but not in this bad boy. Amongst previous reviews & questions, there were some issues raised about the fill. According to the coat's tag, the fill is 90% down & 10% feathers, while the shell & lining is 100% polyester. Given the warmth of the coat (without being too heavy, FYI), I believe the tag's veracity. It looks cool as hell! I got the black &, with the silver zippers, orange lining, & unique silhouette, it's got a modern bomber jacket vibe. Let's talk about those magical pockets: Two vertical zip breast pockets, two horizontal zip hip pockets, & two vertical slip pockets behind the horizontal hip pockets. The magic is both in the number of pockets & their functionality, i.e. they're actually big enough to put things in, including a large, stainless steel drink bottle in the hip zip! Before I ordered this coat, I looked in brick & mortar stores at countless down coats ranging from $50 - $600. None of them had pockets so abunant & ample, a ridiculous cliché in women's garment design. The only thing missing in the Orolay is an interior breast pocket. I also would've liked a double front zipper, but the gusseted side zippers go plenty high enough to loosen up the coat around the hips to sit comfortably. This additional detailing also adds to the coat's aesthetic. The front "blanket" sections also have snaps down the length of the coat on either side of the front zipper that act much like expandable luggage to accommodate heavier sweaters or just loosen things up. I'm 5' 7", 110 lbs., 34" bust, 27" waist, 37" hips, & I ordered the small, which fit as expected. That said, I went for S over XS because my shoulder width of 18 inches is a M, so I had to strike a balance between the shoulders not being too tight, the arms being long enough (they are), & not drowning in the torso. If you have similar measurements & aren't built like a skinny linebacker, the XS will fit comfortably. The only remaining detail is the hood. It's not removable & it's big. Though it's lightweight & doesn't feel heavy on the shoulders when down. There's also a snap on either side of the collar to keep it in place. It's large when up, but there's approximately 3 inches of shell fabric trim around the hood's lining, & the trim stays put when folded over. The lining is super soft faux sherpa, which is why it's warm, but not heavy. I've also seen low quality stitching in some previous reviews, but all of the stitching in my coat was secure & done properly. Short of some stick in the zippers that fixed right up with a hit of WD-40, the quality is up to snuff. If you're a form over function, "feminine" silhouette type, this coat isn't for you. But if you dig unique design, comfort, & functionality, go for it. ... show more

  • This is THE jacket for cold weather!
Size: X-Large Color: Red
I live in Northern New England and it's already been very cold and windy. I walk my dog at 7:00 AM and we've already had temperatures in the teens with winds of 25-30 mph. This jacket is the warmest winter wear ever. It is truly windproof, waterproof, and warm. Pockets are fantastic. It's also long and covers well without being a coat. Although it seems to be bulky when putting it on, once on the body, it's lightweight. It's easy to move in the jacket as well, especially picking up after my pup. I wish it had: a drawstring to cinch in the hood when it's really windy and a two-way front zipper. These are small items as the jacket is such high quality that it's worth every penny. Beautiful, too. ... show more

  • Perfectly flattering! Bought as maternity coat, but will keep in closet forever!
Size: Large Color: Green
LOVE THIS COAT! I'd absolutely recommend, and would buy again in a heartbeat. I am currently 7 months pregnant and bought this coat a month ago, wearing it non-stop since it arrived. It's delightful! I was so skeptical of an affordable garment with so many positive reviews, but I can't imagine a better coat for the price. The bonus is that it's versatile enough to wear through my pregnancy, but stay in my closet permanently. For reference, I am 5'3". Pre-pregnancy, I weighed 150 and wore size M-L shirts with a 36-D bra, and size 10 pants. I am now 7 months pregnant and weigh 175. The size Large fits me as perfectly. Well, as perfectly as any other garment does at this point, even with my big belly! The coat is just constructed in a really intelligent way to look drapey and casual with room for my curvy parts, but still giving me a really long profile that makes me look and feeler taller and slimmer. Plenty of room even still for my chest to get bigger, gain more weight all around, and for my belly to grow. My arm or shoulders are not restricted at all, even when lifting my arms up, driving, lifting or chasing my toddler. I've worn it with bulky sweaters/hoodies underneath, scarves, gloves, the whole winter kit, and it still has room to move and be a human. It's also warm enough that I've worn it with just a t-shirt and leggings underneath and felt toasty warm, and the look or feel of the coat still wasn't too big. Don't be scared off by how much room I'm bragging about! It's not that this size Large is so gigantic, it's just that unlike most other winter coats I've tried, there is actually versatile construction that takes into account the fact that women do have shoulders and arms, and parts of our bodies that are curvier. Even if you were a taller or thinner person, this would drape in a flattering way. There are side panels that unzip all the way up to your hips allowing for a bit more flexibility, and while there is still a panel of fabric holding the the unzipped area together, it's still helpful. There is also a row of snaps on either side of the zipper that can be unsnapped to allow for extra room along your belly and chest without changing the look of the jacket much at all. The pockets are slightly above your hips so there isn't a strange pulling on your hips when your hands/items are in your pockets like in many other coats. There are two huge utility pockets around the waistline that zip up and fit things like your cell phone/small wallet/phone perfectly. See? It's just smart. I do imagine that in a few weeks, I'll have trouble sitting in my car with the coat zipped up, even with the side panels unzipped for that extra bit of room. That's not particularly a problem, though. It will warm up in chilly Kansas City eventually, and I have plenty of room in the coat to wear layers to keep the chill away for the short periods when I may have to move around unzipped when my belly is just so big. For the price, I'd honestly consider buying one size up if I ended up outgrowing the jacket before the baby is born in spring and just donating it when I no longer needed it. If you can only afford one coat and you are just starting your pregnancy, or are already far enough along to have a huge belly, I'd order up a size from your normal measurements just to assure you'd be able to sit down while zipped up without pulling the jacket a little higher on your hips. It might look a bit too big at the beginning, or might not be as flattering post-pregnancy, but not everyone has the luxury of buying multiple specialty items during a pregnancy and your normal non-maternity size might not work as well for you. Bonus- I am usually very allergic to goose and duck down, but the down feathers used in this coat seem to be very clean. I've had no sensitivity to the feathers! It's hard to beat down for warmth, and I'm so glad to have found genuine and clean down for a wildly low price. ... show more
