We've had this filter for about a year now. It has never stopped working or cracked. Keeps the water temperature even in our 30g. We don't use the electric thermometer it came with so, I can't comment on that. The heater is chunky but I'm thinking that's probably helped it not to crack. The rubber piece at the bottom stretched out and won't stay on even though we've never removed it. Also, as the picture shows, the suction cups seem to be melting (which I just discovered after a year of use, not sure how long it's been this way). I hate to think how many chemicals have seeped into my aquarium because of that. All in all, it works but the black plastic/rubber pieces are lacking in quality.

I've gone through three of these - not the same brand. This one is working great so far. Only issue is (and not an issue for me because I just have one beta) is that you can't adjust anything. If you just need a simple heater that is low profile for a small bowl, this is perfect. It is lasting longer than my others, so I am pretty happy with it so far.

This heater is so much better than my older one! I sometimes have an issue where suction cups don’t seem to hold onto the glass due to my turtle being pretty strong and knowing things around, but this heater came with pretty nice suction cups that don’t let loose even when my turtle bumps into them. This heater does amazing to keep my 40 gallon breeder aquarium, in which I keep around 3/4 full, at a consistently warm temperature and the build itself seems well made! It was also packaged very well.
