I have had this CO2 laser for over 2 years...it has functioned flawlessly and I couldn't be happier. I have engrave everything from leather to acrylic and as long as you take your time and learn the lightburn software you can make just about anything you want. I really like engraving slate - see the grave marker for my daughters horse and the coaster. Nice contrast. Works well on wood but be careful with the power. Pictures also show some 1/8" plywood engraving and porcelain tile....key is the power/speed. It takes practice and patience to dial it in. Invest in a chiller! You can't go wrong - this is a great machine! Only downsides are the learning curve with lightburn, the exhaust fan is a little weak (I added an additional inline exhaust fan in the ducting to fix that), and the manual focus can be a pain...but take your time to get your setup and it works great. Arrived on time without any damage - set it up, installed lightburn and my chiller and within 2 hours I was engraving. It is BIG and heavy so have a partner to help with uncrating it. ... show more

    • Exceeds expectations - very nice machine
After you purchase the machine, the company will email you links to download LightBurn (with your activation key - which is included), and a link to tutorial videos about how to use the software to run the machine. I have also found their help forums to be very easy to search and use for minor quesitons/issues. The machine arrived over a week ahead of schedule (which was appreciated). Easy to setup if you're a bit tech-savvy, but you need (seriously) to watch about 1-2 hours of tutorials, and READ the manual it comes with - very important. For example, if you don't connect the water cooling system before using the laser, you're all done and will need to buy a new laser tube and have it professionally installed. Another example is focusing the laser onto each project's surface height. Another example is properly and routinely cleaning the internal mirror system (remember these are probably front-surface coated mirrors - very sensitive to being scratched and damaged). This is not a toy - this is a machine which could be used to run a trophy/engraving shop, so treat it with the humble respect it deserves and it will perform nicely in return. I also found that having a good working knowledge and experience with Corel Draw and Corel Photopaint is very handy (very handy) - so consider getting that software if you want to do fancy stuffs. All in all, I'm extremely satisfied. It does need to be installed into a room where you can install a 6-inch ventilation hole to the outside world - otherwise it will literally fill the room with smoke during larger projects. You'll possible need to buy $10 worth of 6" ducting as well because this unit only comes with about 4 feet of ducting. It comes with everything you need to run it (including the water cooling system). I was burning projects within 1 hour of setting it up, and haven't stopped - possibilities are endless! ... show more

1 year later, after engraving a piece of wood, I tried to turn off the machine, however the switch wouldn't go off, so 4-6 try"s, I unplugged the laser machine from wall, I reinserted the AC plug, the wouldn't go on, I check the AC and it was OK with 120Volts. Now, I emailed Amazon about problem, they contacted Orion, And some back and forth emails, they sent me a half completed wiring diagram with no power, laser and Emergency switch information on the drawing, I ask them to send the complete wiring diagram, with switch information included, the manufacture decline to do so. Now it's up to me to fixture this. When I first purchased the machine the laser mirrors we're off, I had to do a mirror alignment. I've tried real hard to take care of the machine, I purchased a good water cooler, extra fan, and never ran the machine over 80% power to conserve tube or over 28C temp. So make your own conclusion whether you want to purchase from these folks. ... show more

    • This is a good deal...
This arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. Easy to use with LightBurn. I would recommend the Red and black version that has Auto-Focus though. I didn't see that one until I had already bought this one, but focusing isn't really that big of a deal. I personally don't see a good reason to pay $12,000.00 for an American made machine when I got this for under $3,000.00 It works great! ... show more

This is a great upgrade from my prior laser a k40. Unit shipped with in a few days of purchase, I received it on less than a week. Was a little worried as the crate was damaged when I received it but there was no damage to the unit. The exhaust fan was not great and had to buy a new one for it. I have had my machine for just under a year now and am very happy with it. It's definitely a learning curve if you are new to laser engraving/cutting but just do your research and join a few FB groups for support. I highly recommend upgrading the air assist on this machine and adding a 5200 water chiller. ... show more

Came in perfect condition and had no problems setting it up. You will need to figure out a ventilation setup, and a better solution for air chiller. Overall happy with this purchase and glad I choose this one over the more expensive machines.

For the money, you can't beat this laser. OMT was very responsive to my emails. Surprisingly good quality. I have been using this laser for a variety of projects, and it has performed flawlessly.
