got this as a gift for my daughter for her 7th birthday. It was very nostalgic for me, but she didn't love it as much as I thought she would, but not because of the product itself. its just like the ones from when I was a kid. I think if it was backlit or something of the sort she may have liked it more. Maybe thats another option in a different one, but I think it was fun. ... show more

I had one of these as a kid and thought it would be perfect for my 5 year old daughter. She loves it and I occasionally mess around with it too. Works perfectly, instructions are very helpful and battery life so far is good. WARNING* If you do not train your pet to pester you 24/7 it will beep at you a few times after you set it down for awhile. Like it’s lonely and wants attention. I heard the little guy beeping twice in the middle of the night a few nights since Christmas but it was only the nights my daughter had been playing with it shortly before bed. So for any parents getting this for their younger children, if they play with it before bed, make sure it is in a place it won’t wake anyone up 😂 ALSO if your pet passes away for whatever reason, there is a small reset button on the back so you can start over! I had great memories of this toy as a child, but I don't know if I would repurchase for my daughter. It doesn't have any way to turn it off or pause it. I know that's probably how it always has been, but with technology now, it would be better to have a "pet" that you can at least tell what hours to be active in. It is active at all times...even when my child is at school. She obviously can't take care of it then and then it tends to die quickly. She gets very frustrated. Not sure I would rebuy even though the nostalgia is fun for me. ... show more
