I’m using this small/portable UST projector in my home office as an alternative big screen, and it’s honestly been an awesome addition to my setup WFH setup. I already have a triple 27" monitor setup, but adding this projector gives me an ~80" image that works great as an extra or extended screen for work, videos, or even games after hours. I can Google Cast to it super easily, or switch to the on board google TV to have sports on in the background as I work. What impressed me most was how small the projector itself is compared to the image it throws. It only needs a few inches to get a big picture, which makes it incredibly easy to fit into an office setup without having to rearrange everything. I can throw the image off to one side as I have it set up and shown in the image, it sits on the corner of my desk, but pushes the image off to the right, and the auto keystone corrects it to be square and focused. I never thought I’d be able to add a screen this large so easily and not have to hang a TV or screen. It’s made working from home feel both more productive and more fun. During the day, I use it as a large external display, and after work, it’s great for gaming or watching content.     • Using Google Home/TV is not a convenient feature, it's required.
I wanted a good quality ultra short throw projector for Software Development collaboration work. I assumed Google TV, and needing Google Home app to set that up, was simply a cool additional feature. I had no intention of ever using that, and assumed the projector would work just fine with an HDMI cable only. Unfortunately it doesn't.     • Perfect as a Second “TV” for My Small Condo — Huge Screen, Zero Hassle
I picked up the Optoma ML1080UST as a second TV for my small condo — Mainly for movies, sports, and weekend gatherings. I already have a regular TV in the living room, but I turned the spare bedroom into a second area for when my girlfriend is in the living room and I want to watch without her or have buddies over for games. The room is too tight for anything bigger than a 55". I wanted a big-screen experience without rearranging my entire layout. Because this is an ultra-short-throw projector, I’m getting a 90-95” image with the unit sitting just a few inches from the wall. For a compact condo, that’s honestly the only practical way to get a screen this big. No ceiling mount, no casting shadows, no pulling the sofa back 3 feet — it just works. Picture quality is excellent for the size of the projector. As a long-time projector user, I know what to expect from 1000 lumens: it’s not for bright daylight, but in evening or controlled lighting, it looks sharp, colorful, and surprisingly clean for such a small UST. Perfect for movie nights, YouTube deep-dives, or watching football with friends. The fact that it has Google TV built in is a massive win. I didn’t need to plug in any streaming sticks — everything from Netflix to Prime to YouTube runs smoothly out of the box. Setup took maybe 10 minutes. Geometry controls and the UST optics made alignment go quickly. Final bonus is how easy it is to move around and take with me to a friend's, camping or anywhere I can get a spot to put up my mobile UTS screen or a flat wall. A few notes from someone who’s been through a lot of projectors:  -If your wall isn’t perfectly smooth, consider a UST-compatible screen — UST lenses pick up every bump.  -Don’t expect full TV brightness with lights blasting; using it in ambient-controlled lighting gives the best results.  -LED + ultra compact design = zero maintenance and super easy to move around. Overall, the ML1080UST is exactly what I wanted for a second screen: huge image, small footprint, smart OS, and no installation hassle. For condo or apartment living, this thing is a dream.     • Love this projector!
I bought the ML1080UST for my kids’ room (they’re 8 and 6), and honestly it has worked out even better than I expected. I didn’t want to mount a TV in their room, so this felt like a safer and more flexible option — and it really is. The thing I love most is the portability. I bring it in for movie time or bedtime stories, and when I don’t want them watching or sneaking in a game, I just pick it up and take it out. No arguing, no hidden remotes, no drama. It’s so small and lightweight that moving it around is incredibly easy. The ultra short throw design is also amazing. Their room isn’t big at all, but this projector still gives them a large picture (around 100") even when it’s basically right next to the wall. It’s literally plug-and-play — put it down, turn it on, and it works. All I need is my fire stick, and turn the light off. Another bonus is that I don’t have to worry about the blue light from a TV blasting into their eyes at night. A projector feels gentler and more comfortable for bedtime use, especially for stories or calm videos. Overall, this little projector has been perfect for our family.     • Awful sound quality. Bad seller. Pass on this one.
Picture quality was fine. I wanted it for its portability but the sound on the unit was so bad that you could not use it without some sort of an external speaker which requires a special cable adapter. No good. It was bright enough to watch at night- not so much until then. I returned this product for these reasons almost a month ago and the seller is not refunding my money. I would stay away from this product. Spend the extra couple hundred and get something that you can use without a ton of other stuff. ... show more

    • Super buggy, crashes all the time. Extremely slow to respond.
I wish I could say I love this because I love the concept but it’s super buggy and crashes all the time. Plan to turn it on at least 10 minutes before you actually want to watch tv because the first few times you turn it on nothing will happen or it’ll turn on to the home page but none of the apps will work. The DirectTV app is absolutely garbage on this, I think it’s just too much for this to handle.. half the time the app won’t even load. It crashes a lot and will just go to the google tv page forever.. this video is 23 seconds and it was on for many more minutes before and after. The 25% of the time this projector works right, it’s great. Great picture and sound and the footprint is AMAZING. No more huge tv taking up space but it’s really frustrating how slow it is to respond and how much it crashes. ... show more

    • Powerful, small, and impressive
Overall, really impressed with this little thing. It's much smaller than I thought it would be and does exactly what it's advertised to. I bought this because I want to have a clean room, with clean walls, when I'm not watching TV. I did not want to mount another large TV because they're just ugly black rectangles when they're off for the majority of the day. I bring this out and set it up (usually without a screen) in just a few minutes. My walls are an off-white/beige color and it works well. Some people put projector specific paint, but I don't think it's necessary. If you're really serious about a projector, you're probably shopping for more expensive models, anyway. I have a basic screen that I also bought on Amazon. It's the type that is sort of stiff and you have to roll it up and roll it out (rather than the bedsheet/fabric kind). It makes the picture clearer and more vibrant, especially when the room is not fully dark. But again, this projector is generally bright enough that you can just use a light colored wall. Auto-keystone is pretty good and will suffice for 90% of people buying this. There are some manual adjustments you can make, but they're limited. You can also adjust the focus manually, but I find the auto focus to work just fine. You can get a ~100" diagonal image with the projector positioned just 4-5" from the wall. The remote works well and is easy to pair. Google TV is really nice and offers all the apps that you need. The UI is a bit slow, but you just have to get used to it. There's no AUX for audio and no bluetooth, it's just optical audio. The built-in speakers are not going to replace a surround system or even a decent 2.0 or 2.1 system, but considering this is just plug-and-play, the speakers are perfectly fine and get loud enough for anyone's needs. It looks and feels premium and has some surprising heft to it when you pick it up. For under or around $1,000 - this is the best UST you're going to find from a reputable projector brand (not like one of the hundreds of brands with alphabet soup names). ... show more

Decent for the price, extremely lightweight, good picture quality and impressive color gamut. My only complaint is that the lens doesn't render small text well, and since I bought it to use as a display for programming, I was disappointed on this front.
