I have a problem getting enough protein in me. It's been an issue for nearly three years now, and my doctor suggested adding protein drinks to my diet, but it isn't easy finding ones that don't have large amounts of added sweeteners to taste "better" or don't otherwise taste like crap. I've tried a great many varieties, but I've found that I REALLY love Optimum Nutrition's Vanilla Ice Cream and Double Rich Chocolate flavors. I cannot recommend the French Vanilla Creme or Chocolate Peanut Butter. They're horrible and I can't make them taste better no matter what I do to them! I haven't tried any other flavors, but I've heard rave reviews about the Extreme Milk Chocolate flavor. That's my next try, and then I'll update my review. One of my favorite things about these is that there is such a small amount of added sweetner (sucralose) that I can't even taste it! I detest the flavor sucralose brings, so if it was tasteable, I would 100% pick it up. I appreciate that it's literally the next to last ingredient. I can sweeten them up with frozen fruits if I want to, but honestly, I'm good drinking the vanilla ice cream straight up. The chocolate always gets something added (usually a small hit of flavored coffee creamer) because it hits me wrong if it doesn't. It is also a great vehicle for frozen pineapple or cherries! This is my opinion. Your mileage may vary. If you're looking for enough protein in your diet or an added protein boost for a particular reason, I highly recommend trying O.N.'s products!

I recently tried the Optimum Nutrition's Whey Protein in milk chocolate flavor, and I must say, it is one of the best protein powders I have ever tasted! It mixes well and has a smooth texture, and the milk chocolate flavor is absolutely delicious. I also appreciate that it has a high protein content, and it helps me to recover quickly after workouts. The powder dissolves easily in water, and I have also mixed it with milk, which enhances the taste even more. I have been using it for a few weeks now, and I have noticed an improvement in my muscle recovery and overall energy levels. I highly recommend this protein powder to anyone looking for a high-quality supplement to support their fitness goals.

The ON Gold is $76 for 5 lbs. Price keeps going up so I tried "another" protein powder with decent reviews and about the same stats (BCAA's, protein mix, flavor, Protein per 2 scoops, etc.) and have tried to drink this new powder and was shocked. I saved about $20 by buying the 4.25 lb of Ascent but it had zero flavor. Very thin (2 scoops) like water. The ON Gold had great flavor and was thick enough that you knew you were drinking something (not water). So saving a few dollars is good, but not at the expense of flavor and creaminess. I do not drink the Gold for the flavor and texture, but it sure helps.

The hardest thing for me to do post gastric bypass surgery was to get adequate protein in my diet. We need 60 to 70 grams of protein in 5-6 tiny meals/snacks per day! Thankfully, dietitians have us include 2 shakes per day which gets us 2/3 of the whey there. Lol a little protein humor there! Since eating has become more of a chore for me, like taking medicine, I mix a scoop of strawberries and cream with just enough water to choke it down. It’s turned into a sweet treat for me. Too bad since I don’t really have any cravings I oftentimes forget to have treat #2 for the day! It mixes easily without a blender otherwise I wouldn’t drink it every day. The taste is mwah! Chef’s kiss. I can dry scoop this stuff. Mix it with water, milk, or milk alternatives. At most, I mix it with a bit of water and just mash up a banana with the back of a fork and drink. I make sure I gradually stir in water and make no more than 4-6 ounces. The powder just “melts.” It’s also takes well to powder supplements nicely, but mechanical mixing might be necessary to achieve smoother results. Throughly mix your DRY ingredients first, then your liquids and give them a try. Remember. Make your regimen easy so you can stick to it.

The product looks authentic even though it did not have the sticker to authenticate it, but I guess it is because it was shipped in the US and selling fake product using a company’s name can land you in big trouble gere. If you’re worried about if this is chalky and gross, you don’t have to be. This powder is the best for a reason. Blends well and the vanilla ice cream flavor barely betrays it being a protein powder. Blending mine with fruit or hot coco mix tastes closer to a milkshake than a smoothie, which i love.
