  • One of those purchases that has exceeded all expectations
I Purchased this in early 2022 so I have had more than enough time to evaluate it. I was tired of having to mix/shake my hobby paints (mostly Vallejo) & wanted something that would make it easier as well as do a better job. Purchased this on a Lightning Deal half expecting it would not do that. It did exactly what I was wanting. Mixing/shaking paints is no longer an inconvenience or hassle when needed. It is also pretty quiet as long as it isn’t attached to something that will pickup & amplify the vibration. The build quality is solid as well. Just over 2 years of fairly consistent use & it is working the same as it did day one ... show more

  • Not bad
I think this is pretty much the same thing as like the crazy 140 dollar ones. Like none of them are really that great honestly. They don't do the magic that I thought they would. Even with a steel ball, thick paints are just too viscous for these things to do very much, you still kinda have to physically shake your paints but the way I look at it is I have to shake them less now and am probably doing a more thorough mixing, I think, but...I dont have to exert myself as much, however you do shake the absolute bejezus out of your hand which also, as a scientific fact, is not good for your fingers so........that's why I waited on one of these for so long but I will say this, it sits on my desk and when I go for a paint, I give it a few shakes then I use this thing, then I give a few more shakes....its like a whole ritual. I probably got the best shaken paints in town! But anyhow, I digress. In conclusion, so you're tired of shaking paints when your paint is drying out and your shoulder and elbow kinda feel uncomfortable when you're shaking paint bottles so you went to check amazon for a vortex mixer, saw that they were crazy expensive and then you were like hmm...what about this thing for like 50 bucks?.....is it as good? Well, yes, but you're still gonna have to shake your paints, just not as much and you know if you don't get it, you're just gonna keep thinking about it until you do get it, so you should probably just get it cause then you can be like "yea I got one of those vortex mixers.....whats that? Yea, it works okay" But anyways, you know you should just be working on your NMM instead of looking at vortex mixers on amazon. How are you ever gonna get as good as Angel Hiraldez when you're just wasting time aquiring new miniature painting gear. ... show more

  • DOA
The device immediately started vibrating upon plugging it in and wont stop, while the instructions state its only supposed to be vibrating while being used. Bought it to save money, learned my lesson. Edit: while not ideal, the actual mixing function works great now that I've set it up that I can easily unplug it. No different from if it had a physical switch and for the price I can't complain. I was offered a refund by the seller but that is unnecessary as it still does what I want it to do just with 1 extra step. Updating review. Kudos to an active seller. ... show more

  • Good and sturdy
Very strong motor only issue was the case for the mixing bearings broke in transit so there was a hundred ball bearings in box with machine if you order I would suggest buying the bearings on a separate order just in case

  • Great for mixing mini paints.
First off, when the mixer arrived, I could feel the weight. It felt like a product that was made 50 years ago, in a good way. When you hold a product, you can tell by feel whether it's a quality product or not. Previous mixers I've owned felt cheap and lightweight; this mixer just felt like it was going to be a quality product. Placing it on my desk, the suction cup feet held extremely well. No vibrating all over the desk. It was quieter than I expected as the others I've owned were very loud. I'm not sure how much easier some of the more expensive mixers can mix your bottles of paint but this one works great. Another benefit of this mixer vs others is that you don't have to worry about getting your paint bottle just right in order for it to operate. You can hit it on an angle or hold your bottle pretty much any direction and it will turn on. I'm usually not this excited with a product so trivial as a vortex mixer, but I have nothing but good things to say about this one. ... show more

  • Excellent mini mixer for the price
I purchased this a year and a half ago to use with model paints and have been exceedingly pleased. It takes up a very small amount of space, is relatively quiet, and is powerful enough to agitate my dropper bottles. After a little more than a year, a capacitor in the power adapter failed. I reached out to OmniLab's customer service via email and they offered to replace it and pay for shipping even though it was no longer under warranty. I'd definitely recommend this if you're in the market. ... show more

  • Great value for the price
This vortex mixer is half to 1/3 the price of competing options and does exactly the same thing (and I had previously bought one that was more than twice the price of this and it was DOA). I use this for mixing miniature paints in 17ml dropper bottles. I use Vallejo Model Color almost exclusively, with the odd Scale75, Army Painter, and Citadel colors as well. This mixer works with all of them. You do need to add 1-2 steel mixing balls to thicker paints. I haven't tried with glass mixing balls, but I don't think they're heavy enough to really be useful with this. As some other reviewers have mentioned, however, it will not thoroughly mix exceptionally thick paints. You need a physical shaker (whether a machine or your own hands) for those really thick paints. You could potentially thin them down in the bottle if you wanted to. I've been using mine for over 18 months now and I love it! ... show more
