Description

This heavy-duty SMS7630B Studio Mic Boom features a telescoping boom arm that adjusts in angle and length for precise mic positioning, making it a versatile choice that excels in a variety of applications. The midpoint clutch offers extra protection for mics by acting as a brake on the upper shaft during height adjustment, preventing the shaft from crashing down. The tapered front of the stable, heavy low-profile hexagonal base provides extra room for foot placement. From the Manufacturer This heavy-duty studio stand features a telescoping boom and is steady enough to securely hold a large condenser mic with a cage. A heavy-duty mid-point clutch is designed to act as a brake on the upper shaft, so even when loosened, it prevents the shaft from dropping down too quickly while adjusting height. The 16 lb. base brings superior stability to this stand while the unique hex shape means more room for feet placement.

  • Would Be Better with Metal Knobs
It's an excellent stand. Very well made and sturdy. The description says the base is 17 lbs, but the box says it's 16. Either way it's heavy enough to support my condenser mic -- a Neumann TLM 103 with a suspension mount. Like many other musical stand products I have purchased -- both cheap and expensive -- the knobs on this pricey mic stand are plastic. The shaft with threads is metal. But the knob itself is plastic. The knobs are the points that get the most use and, being plastic, will eventually dry out and crack. It's not like a knob on a guitar or amp that just gets moved to a particular setting. Mic stand knobs get twisted hard to apply pressure so that the position of the stand does not move. The plastic does appear to be harder and more solid than what I have seen on cheaper stands. Still, at this price, for such a nice stand, plastic knobs seem inappropriate. ... show more

  • Great stand at a great price!
I got an expensive mic and was afraid my cheap tripod stand would get bumped and fall over. I found this stand after a long search and did not want to waste money on a stand with plastic fittings that wouldn't last. This stand is very solid and quite large. The base is more than heavy enough to keep this from tipping over. It takes up a little more space depth wise but this thing is solid and will be around 20 years from now. ... show more

  • HEAVY
I have owned an Ultimate Support mic stand and was looking for replacement. This mic stand has a nice primary pole however the boom is a standard mic stand. The real issue is the base plate. This thing is not only HUGE but HEAVY X 10. As a gigging musician it is absolutely not practical, I would not recommend. It is possibly 3/4 size of my Fractal FM9! Did I mention its HEAVY! I ordered another mic stand and will use the base plate for work outs, seriously. ... show more

  • Quality stands with heavy weight bases.....
If you want quality mic stands with telescoping booms built to last, these are the type to buy....well worth the money

  • Heavy base and Tall
The heavy base will stay put and the boom height and reach will take care of most applications. However, the adjuster screw mech is no better quality than the smaller on stage boom stands....bu that is why it is only 99$

  • Amazing stand.
Love this stand! I had a big problem with rumble noise in my apartment and my desk doesn’t really allow a boom arm. Only thing I wish could be a little different, is the height of the minimum height

  • Best in class
Way more stable, same footprint (though base pole is taller), and less droop (no droop) than my similarly priced H&M. It is heavy, so, for some people, it may not be best for gigging, but it’s perfect for studio and home use. The tray that can be purchased as an accessory is also very useful.

  • Five Stars
Extremely solid and well-built stand. Make note of the measurements of the stand: It has a much larger footprint than a standard (non-boom) stand, which is what gives it excellent stability. It is truly massive. When installing the mic holder or cage for the first time, pay attention to the top-most collar: It might not be immediately clear that there is a narrower telescoping extension. You need to make sure you are gripping that extension when tightening the holder or cage. ... show more
