    • I'm glad for the "problems," they probably saved my life.
Initially, I was really disappointed in this product. I kept getting error messages and wildly varying results when it gave me a rating. When I took my wife to the doctor's office a few days later, I asked the nurse to check my BP. Before telling me the results, he said that he had to speak with the doctor. Both he and the doctor came back into the room, the doc told me to lie down for and ECG. Upon completing it, he told me to go to my cardiologist immediately, which I did. My cardiologist told me to go to the ER immediately and that they were waiting for me. Upon arrival, I was immediately wheeled to a cubicle in the ER. Another ECG. The ER cardiologist said we're admitting you immediately for a likely pacemaker procedure. While my resting heart rate was 35 to 31 bpm, I had NO symptoms. I felt fine, no fatigue, no chest pain, no dizziness, etc. During the night my heart rate dropped to 25 bpm, but in the morning, I felt fine. The next morning, I was sent for a stress test. It came back with okay results, but the irregular heart rate remained. Another night and another test the next day. While I actually did better on the second test the profound arrythmia remained. Thursday: the cardiologist came in and said you can go home, BUT, you will be back within a year and the circumstances may not be favorable. I told the doc, "Let's get it done." He agreed. While I was upset with the initial performance, the problems may have actually saved my life. Thank you Omron!! If there were 6 stars, I'd give it to you. This is a very reliable, easy to use unit at a reasonable price. Surprised DC adaptor a $20 add on not included (although batteries were). I had DC adaptors from prio Omron units over past 30 years. I'm a physician. Reading prior reviews people frequently complain readings from this model not accurate and vary from reading to reading or different than Doctors office). While one may very infrequently get a "bad unit" this not typical Generally not the unit but normal variation within patient. Many factors can effect spot blood pressure ( stress, excitement, ambient temperature, recent meals/ beverages, medications to name a few) Blood pressure is dynamic ( it changes) and can be labile. Blood pressure often higher in Doctor office than at home. Blood pressure ofter higher first reading than subsequent readings even at home Recommendations are to take blood pressure after relaxing in quite setting for 10 -15 minutes with 3 readings taken 1 minute apart when establishing diagnosis of hypertension by home monitoring. Surprisingly many healthcare providers don't follow these recommendations with nursing/ medical assistants taking a single blood pressure almost immediately upon placement in an uncomfortable exam room. Pros: *Records heart rate too *Has an app to store reading and can share with doctor *Can use batteries instead of power *easy to use for self monitoring *storage bag *easy large numbers for viewing * simple to use app CONS: *Does not come with power cord--I ordered one which wasn't much but still. Orginal batteries last a long time--haven't changed mine yet. *A little bulky to store but not a deal breaker Overall I would buy again, especially since I can use it by myself.
