  • ABSOLUTE UNIT (also addressing other reviews)
This computer is a TOTAL BEAST! I am very happy with everything about this computer. I am able to play Modern Warfare on this beast at max settings. For the price, it is hard to find something with this level of components. The processor is fantastic. Load time on a game like Borderlands is maybe 2 seconds, which still blows my mind. The awesome performance is thanks to both the processor and the awesome Nvme sdd. I am a huge fan of the OMEN dashboard. It gives you some pretty helpful data like GPU, CPU, and memory usage as well as the temperature of each, which I think is nice. It also allows your computer to operate on Wifi and Ethernet simultaneously, which allow me to pull 700mbps on most downloads. I would not consider this program to be bloatware at all, because I find it extremely beneficial. I want to address all of the comments complaining about the cooling of the GPU. Yes, this GPU definitely SHOULD have a water cooler. It does not have one in this system, primarily to keep it so affordable, also to limit the size. (I LOVE how small this thing is, the footprint is very tiny compared to most towers, which I am very happy about.) The first time I played Modern Warfare my GPU hit 85C pretty fast, which I was not crazy about. I had some obvious thermal gating, and the case itself even started to get a little hot. I did a little investigating. I downloaded MSI Afterburner to see what level the GPU Fan was running (the one stat OMEN doesn't show you). When the GPU was around 85C, the fan was only running at 40%. Since MSI allows you to manually control the fans, I upped it to 70% and the temp immediately fell 10 degrees. I played for several hours and never saw the temps get above 75 again. I have no idea why the default temp curve maxes out at 40% fan speed, but it's a really easy problem to fix! The fan gets a little loud at 70%, but I play with a headset on, so it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I 100% recommend this computer. It shipped in a very protective box so there was no damage to the computer at all. For the price, it's hard to beat! ... show more

  • SO FAR - Great... I'll be back if anything goes wrong.
IF YOU DON'T READ MY WHOLE REVIEW, PLEASE SKIP TO THE NEXT ALL CAPS SENTENCE! I'm going to be very honest with my review. I made a $300 mistake. I saw this on sale during the Cyber Monday deals and I held back from buying it because of some of the reviews about it overheating and throttling back the computer and running slower than it should. I quite frankly did not want to be dealing with a poor design, and trying to find a way to cool an overheating computer to get the full value from it. So I decided to wait and look on my own later. A few days later, I couldn't find ANYTHING CLOSE to the specs on this computer for the price it was listed at after Cyber Monday. That's right, even after it went back up by $300, I couldn't get anything CLOSE to it for the same price. I looked at all the big names, here on Amazon and elsewhere. Most of the computers I was looking at in this price range were coming in with i7-8700K processors and 16Gb of RAM. Many of them also had smaller SSD boot drives and a large conventional storage drive. Almost every spec was lower in some way unless I was willing to add ANOTHER $400 to the price of the computer. So I bit the bullet and ordered this computer, fully expecting to send it right back to Amazon. I was expecting poor build quality. NOPE, it arrived and appears to be a well built, quality computer. I was expecting loud fans, and high temps. SO FAR - neither of the above. The fans are generally silent... and only crank up a little during Fortnite with all settings (except Shadows, my son doesn't like them turned on for some reason) set to EPIC he is getting 150 FPS, where he was getting about 95FPS before with his older computer. The computer is crisp and fast, and things just happen instantly. I have not had much time with the computer yet, to go through the BIOS and to see if all the cooling is working properly. When we get past Christmas, I will try to update the review with my experience of looking through the BIOS settings (and updating if necessary) and tweaking the machine to see if we can get anything more out of it with overclocking. ONE POSSIBLE TIP: WHEN CONSIDERING OVERHEATING PROBLEMS, ONE THING WE NOTICED WAS THAT THE BOTTOM of the PC Case is perforated and has a FILTER on it - as though COOLER AIR IS SUPPOSED TO BE DRAWN THROUGH THE BOTTOM of the PC Case... So, we lifted the front and back of the computer off the ground with a couple of short, cut 2x4 slabs - which elevates the case 1 1/2 inches off the floor, and leaves the bottom of the case open to draw cool air up and into the case, while the fans circulate the hot air out the top of the case. If you are putting the PC on the floor, it is stopping this air flow design. While I realize that is stupid of HP if that is what they did, and did not include feet to take it off the floor, or a stand - but if it is as simple as raising the computer a couple inches off the floor and leaving room for air to flow through the case, it is worth trying. I hope this may help someone out who is having trouble with overheating. SO FAR WE ARE NOT... so it could be our efforts to lift the case and leave the bottom able to circulate cold air into the case, or not? I keep saying this, but SO FAR we are very happy with this computer. I sure wish that I had ordered it on Cyber Monday and saved $300, but I'm STILL happy with it at the higher price based on what we have seen up to now. I WILL change my review if anything happens to make me rethink my recommendation. Go ahead and shop around. Look for a PC with: i9 processor 32 Gb RAM 1 TB SSD 2080 Super Graphics Card Liquid cooling on the processor Z390 Mobo and price it compared to this... if you find something better - please comment below. Because as of this date (Christmas 2019) I'm not finding anything even close. I hope you find this review helpful. I take Amazon reviews very seriously and I try to make sure my reviews help other customers save money, avoid bad products and find good ones. So if I have gotten something wrong here, or if you can help me with information on how to make my review better - I welcome the correction! You can contact me at my Amazon Profile page and I will try to get back to you right away! Thank you for reading my review! ... show more

  • Great system. Runs things more then expected (Updated into new case for Rtx 4070 ti Super) Great system. Runs things more then expected (Updated into new case for Rtx 4070 ti Super)
Original System is indeed an i9 with an RTX 2080 Super. CPU is liquid cooled by default. UPDATE: 2-19-2024 REBUILT HP OMEN 875-1123 INTO NEW CASE FOR RTX 4070 TI SUPER (SEE IMAGE 2) 1. Case: CORSAIR 7000D AIRFLOW Full-Tower ATX PC Case (AMAZON) 2. PCI E 4.0 RIser extension cable (200m) needed for LARGE RTX cards (AMAZON) 3. Used the Corsair h20 H60 cooler that came with this HP (since it already had another liquid cooler installed) I wanted to upgrade the GPU from the RTX 2080 Super to something more robust. However the default case and the way the 24 pin Power connector is positioned will not allow that by default. Solution new case. (kept 750w HP power supply) Updated case to the CORSAIR 7000D AIRFLOW Full-Tower ATX PC Case. Removed mobo, mounted, fits perfect. Case connections are perfect except you will only use 1 of the USB front connectors for 2 of the 4 front usb ports. Used pciex16 4.0 riser cable to extend the pci E port because the mbo of the HP has the 24 pin power connector below the pci E slot, meaning the large 4070 ti super will not fit in that slot because it will hit the power connector. Mounted card on the VERTICAL slots in the case clower to glass. Don't worry, it will get airflow and temps will be the same. I lowered the front bottom included fan (2 in front 1 rear) to align with GPU. amazingly air flows along glass and is cool making the GPU happy. I used the Corsair liquid cooler that came with this HP system that i didn't unbox as it already had a liquid cooler on it. to use the hp make sure those little pins that po front back of mobo to front are slide inward to center so it fits board. I removed the old thermal paste and also the default on the newer cooler and used artic 4x. Medium pea size in center of vpu and it self spread even and temps idle at 31c. When hp board and all are in the new larger case, it looks so nice. cable management of this corsair case is amazing. Power unit is hidden under neath with great airflow. The i9 or this hp plus an RTX 4070 TI Super runs games so fast. In hogwarts legacy i run Ultra - DLSS - frame gen on and on my 4k 60hrz monitor it stays at 60 FPS locked (higher when not locked). thats with full ray trace on at ultra. can run full 4k at 55-60 with high RT setting. MS flight SImulator run so smooth now i cry. Even with other peoples skins and ai skins shown. ... show more

  • Incredible value for what you get
Overall I love this machine. Very happy with the purchase and would buy again. I want to address some of the key points from others. Make sure you sit this on tile or raise a few inches. I stuck felt feet on the bottom - you want to make sure the intake on the bottom is not covered. This will keep your gpu 1-2 deg C cooler or more. I have seen others mention thermal gating of the GPU - I don't think they are correct. Yes the GPU (OEM 2080 Super) in this computer gets up to 83-85C at full load, but it still produces the same frames/sec as when its just getting started. I think the manufacturer just wanted the fan to be as quiet as possible while operating under full load. I don't see any change in performance after gaming for several hours vs. when just starting. At 1440p max settings (ray tracing disabled) I get 120-130 fps in Modern Warfare, occasionally above or below that depending on the map. Ray tracing on drops me to 80-90 fps but I feel like some maps are unstable with it so I just keep it off. The processor cooling is fine. I never see over 80C The value is insane - Most computers with the i9900k, 16+ gb ram (this has 32!), 1 TB SSD is going to run you $2k+ even with just a 2070 super, and this has a 2080 super! You couldn't even build a new computer yourself that was the same price as this and still had windows 10 with the same specs. Cons: (None worth taking a star off, but worth mentioning) -The processor liquid cooler has some coil whine as it kicks up, so you hear a regular pulse of fan noise every few seconds.. If you wear headphones it won't bother you. (The gpu fan is not really perceptible, it is very quiet by comparison). If I cared enough I would change the AIO cooler but its not really a big deal -Ram is only 2666 MHz, and I don't think the motherboard supports any faster. But with an intel processor and playing at 1440p+ (which you should with this beast!) you should never see processor bottlenecking so I really doubt you would see much if any performance change with faster ram. -The wifi card doesn't seem great. Definitely play on ethernet if you can. Maybe my driver was out of date or something, but I always lost 2-5% packets on wifi even being very close to my router. Ethernet fixed this. ... show more

  • Great gaming computer if you can get it for the right price.
I bought mine used from an Amazon vendor for $1724 ($1924 after taxes) and so far it's been a dream. I can run all of my games at least 60 fps on a 3440 x 1440 monitor. I don't have any trouble browsing the internet or ever feel bogged down because of all the memory on the system. When I received my computer the front LED lights were not attached fortunately I've built some computers before so I was comfortable enough to find a video, open the case and plug it into the motherboard bus board. My only gripe with this PC is the wifi/bluetooth. It does come with it but it's basically garbage. So much interference no matter where I've tried placing it (on the desk, closer to the floor, off the side) if you're using bluetooth headphones they will disconnect if you try to walk out of the door. Previous laptop let me walk away much further. The WiFi also has given me some stability/rubber banding issues while gaming, another issue my laptop does not have. A google search for this computers WiFi adapter, the Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11ac PCIe led me down a rabbit hole of the exact same issues so it seems to be a common issue with this device and driver. We all know gaming on wifi blows but I've done it for the past few years with no problem and I would have preferred to not have a long ethernet cable stretching around my room. This is still a really good computer but for the price you kind of expect everything to be amazing, I couldn't imagine spending 2.4k full price for this and not have everything behaving fully functional, so I can only recommend it with 3.5 stars, rounded to 4 because Amazon. ... show more

  • 2 weeks in, great machine. Don't be scared away by negative reviews.
So like most of you I saw the "this PC overheats" reviews and got a little weary. Decided to purchase it regardless thinking I could just modify the cooling system if need be. Fast forward about two weeks of ownership. Love this computer. The heating problem you are reading about is almost certainly people setting this PC on the ground. The way the airflow works on this PC is intake on the bottom and exhaust on the top, so if you set it on the ground....it will probably overheat. I mounted mine to the bottom of my desk and no issues. I have run games like Valorant @ 350FPS for 12 hours straight and the highest I could get the GPU temp was 67C, usually sits around 55-60. This is nothing for a Nvidia, which can handle 70-80 for thousands of hours with ease. All around super fast, beautiful graphics and frame rates 300+ with a 240 hz monitor (Omen). TL;DR This is a good PC and as long as you don't block the bottom and top of the unit, it will NOT overheat. Happy Gaming! ... show more

  • A Good Value
I was due to build a new gaming rig, and this was comparable to what I intended to build at a similar price. I expected heating issues with the included liquid cooling system, so I bought the Corsair H60 in preparation. I also bought a wheeling floor stand for a desktop that is ventilated on the bottom because this machine vents heat from the bottom of the case. So far, idling at 29 Celsius and under load it doesn't go above ~54 Celsius, even with the stock liquid cooling unit, so I might forgo installing the Corsair for the time being. Someone else on here said the included WiFi card is garbage -- and they are right. I was experiencing a steady packet loss of 3% and connection drops periodically. I bought a replacement, but the internal antenna cables I received were of a very poor quality and don't attach to the new card, so I had to replace those, too. Another minor complaint is that the case is very compact for such large components. I had to unseat the PSU and the GPU to properly access the M.2 slot for the WiFi card. That said, I still consider this a great value and am very happy with the machine overall. I've also installed a second M.2 SSD because I do content creation and need the space and transfer speeds. ... show more
