With the Super-resolution Zoom feature of the TOUGH TG-1, you can even reach 13.6x magnification. This conversion lens is particularly helpful when shooting long-distance shots enjoying the high brightness even for far away subjects. I was worried that the quality would be low, but was surprised to find it made well yet not very heavy. The lens appear to be glass. It fits my camera well. Just make sure to set your camera to the telephoto adapter in the settings. I have not used it in the water because it is not rated for that kind of use. I bought it for my TG-5. Honestly, I down see much use out of it. The 1.5X offers little in the way of magnification, the lens is as heavy or heavier than the camera, and it's probably not worth the trouble, for me, to tote it around outdoors and switching it out for what you get from it.
