  • Best entry-level mirrorless interchangeable lens camera for the beginner in 2025
Color: Silver Set: Mark IV Silver + 14-42mm EZ Lens Kit
Small, easy to use, almost pocketable (in a jacket pocket it is), and what a great value! It's a versatile camera for the beginner, with menus that help you learn photography on the camera! Scene modes, Art modes, AP (advanced photography modes), it's all there, it even stitches panoramas together for you in-camera. This has all the advantages of a point and shoot, in a seriously nice and ergonomic retro body look, with interchangeable lenses. And there are soooo many Olympus/OM System lenses to choose from (most are small and very manageable) Behind all the ease-of-use menus and features, there is also the full set of manual settings for the amateur photographer. Great for selfies but also more serious work. You can definitely grow with this camera. I guess that is why this is Taylor Swift's favorite camera (not kidding look it up), she goes with it everywhere. Love this when I run out and want to bring my smallest easiest to carry "kit", that will always give me pics that are so much better than my iPhone 15 Pro. ... show more

  • Light, portable. Great image quality for the price point
Color: Silver Set: Body
Originally wanted the Sony ( per Wirecutter) which is out of stock. I was afraid this one wouldn’t arrive on time. Thanks to Amazon’s super speedy delivery! I bought this for travel, portability, convenience and picture quality ( at this price point). Doubt if it can match the quality of my Nikon D750 which is a full body DSLR camera but a pain to carry it around all the time. Waiting to compare after I get a smaller Nikon 50mm lens to see if this is worth keeping. I like that the you can change to more powerful low end or high end lenses. Perfect for hobby phographers for travel! Cheap plastic built dosent bother me as it’s convenient and more functional for travel. ... show more

  • Perfect travel camera with lots of features
Color: Silver Set: Mark IV Silver + 14-42mm EZ Lens Kit
I'm sort of a Nikon guy, but I saw this Olympus OM-D in a camera store and really liked it. It's my go-to camera for travel. All the features I need for travel photography along with light weight and small size. It's also well priced for what you get. I've included some pictures comparing my smallish Nikon Zfc. ... show more

  • So far so good, more later...
Color: Black Set: Body
just wanted to communicate a quick message. not that i want to focus on negatives but these things jumped immediately as not so great at me when using the camera for the first time. for all of this i subtracted 1 star. From all i was reading i do expect that all other function perform as described. 1. It said charging can be done through USB cable, so i was hoping that for long-term exposure (like astro photography etc) one can add an external battery to keep it going bit NO: "Even if charging is in progress, it stops when the camera is turned on." that is what the manual says and i checked it is true 2. the EVF is activated by eye contact. basically the moment the EFV is darkened. the weird thing is when reviewing images on the LCD and then you look through the EFV to see more details etc the camera switched to the regular recording mode. to see the image in the EVF you have to put your eye on it and THEN switch to viewing mode. on all other Pen cameras i use the EVF-1/2 and it is switched by a button on the EVF which i like better. 3. the battery door has no automatic lock when it is closed, you have to manually move a little slide. also different from previous Pen's. i though it was broken. 4. autofocus seems ok but have not directly compared to my EP5 and EPL9. once thing that bothered me on that older cameras was that they did not focus well on the moon at all which disappointed me a lot (that was with the 14-150mm zuiko). 5. EVF: clearly the external EVF-1/2 have the advantage that they are articulate. meaning you can orient them 90 degrees up which is very convenient for many situations. now that would be great to do here too. or they could have added the port to use the EVF in addition when needed. update1: (2) i found out that the automatic switching of the EVF can be turned off with a button next to it - very good! Update 2, Jan 2 2021 Did my first shooting outdoors. AF works very good compared to my epl9 and ep5. It even focussed very easily to the moon. The 2 dials on the top are very convenient to quickly change key parameters. I explored the HDR function a little but have not seen too dramatic impact. On my phone I use Snapseed for HDR and feel it has more impact on the image. But so far so good. I also played with the Art14,splash color, function and it is working well. More later 2021 january update 2: tried the nightscape mode for the stars. everyone who has interest in that one probably knows the Pleiadies (see picture). this was taken handheld with Zuiko lens 40-150mm, not bad overall. the camera takes 8 frames with 1/10 sec each and combines then. outcome is not bad at all. to get the focus to work i had to point first to another brighter star and kept eh release button pressed half down when pointing then to the barely visible Pleiadies (this was in the city so no really dark sky). this scene mode does not allow for manual focus which would be nice. ... show more

Color: Silver Set: Mark IV Silver + 14-42mm EZ Lens Kit
Great while it lasted. Stopped working day two of the trip I bought it for, now it is just an expensive piece of junk. It was never exposed to the elements and was treated gently. Very very disappointed and even more so was i didn't get to use it until after the return window. I would avoid this camera and get something built a little better. ... show more

Color: Black Set: Mark IV Black + 14-42mm EZ Lens Kit
I am completely new to photography. I took some time to practice and get familiar with a good bit of the settings which wasn’t too difficult. Since I don’t have photography experience I’m not comparing against much but I have been very satisfied with my photos! These are some photos I took from my vacation to Australia! ... show more
