Should I Buy It?

If you're in the market for an upgrade or a solid starter camera that punches above its weight in terms of features and performance, this Olympus model is a great choice. However, if you frequently shoot in adverse weather conditions or prioritize an extensive accessories connection, you might want to consider these aspects. Overall, it's a recommended buy for its quality, especially for those who value lightweight and high-quality imaging.

  • Great camera
Replaced an older Sony system and am pleased with the Olympus upgrade. Easy to use and lightweight performance.

  • Sleeper camera in the olympus line
I am a retired professional now just enjoying retirement. I bought this camera to replace my old worn out original em5. I even chose it over the em5 mk2 because it has a better LCD screen for landscape photography and more importantly has a better updated 20 meg sensor with the latest processer. Some complain about the lighter plastic body but I think it is actually a plus. The body is of high quality and I am enjoying the weight reduction when hiking around. It does everything I want it to with no unnecessary features and pairing it with my 12-40 f/2.8 is a match made in heaven. No extra grip needed now with the new camera grip design. Easily better than em10 mk 1, 2 and 3. Very Underrated!! ... show more

  • Great for the price
Great quality and image stabilization. Really worth the money for a new photographer. Or even intermediate. The only thing I didn't like is the settings menu and it's not weather protected. There's no headphone jack or exterior recording jack. But if you ever use an exterior recording device, no one ever plugs it back into the camera, so that's not really an issue. Be warned, you need to know what settings to turn off to get the best pictures. Hit up the pros on youtube since they helped me a lot (and these pictures still aren't as great as they could be because I had a noise reducer on by mistake) ... show more

  • a worthy replacement for my OMD EM10 m2
I sent my OMD EM10 m2, along with the 12-42 pancake lens to a friend in South America, who needed a camera. I loved that camera and lens combination. I replaced both, with an OMD EM10 m4 kit. I was wary of criticisms of the newer model. Too much plastic, feels cheap, some say. I don't agree. This camera feels just as solid to me as the m2. I have no issue with plastic, as metal can scratch and dent in ways that plastic will not, though I'm still concerned with stories about a weaker lens mount and tripod mount. The m4 is somewhat less customizable than the m2, but it is sufficiently customizable for me. Autofocus and capture are faster than the m2. I also have the original OMD EM1, and a couple of primes, and the 12-40 2.8. I prefer the feel of the EM10. ... show more

  • Product sucks - do not buy.
The user experience with this purchase is terrible. You get get a jumble of parts. Mine seem to have been opened. There is no memory card despite the instructions telling you it comes with one. The product support on the site is terrible. I filled everything out and it would not send the email to support. I would give this zero stars if I could for a terrible experience and a shoddy product. ... show more

  • Excellent 4/3rds camera. Large selection of very good optics too (pricey glass though)
Small with lots of features. Fully automatic to all manual. First class in-camera stabilization. Menu can be intimidating since almost anything on this camera is customizable. They sell this as the starter camera, to me its just about a professional one with a starter price.

Incredible camera, loved having it. Did end up returning it because living in Washington state without the weather sealing is a bit scary
