Features

  • The silver Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Lens is a standard prime lens with a 35mm format equivalent focal length of 50mm that is designed for Micro Four Thirds cameras.
  • This lens features a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture ideal for working in low-light situations and for separating your subject from the background.
  • Contributing to image quality is the use of two aspherical elements that helps to eliminate spherical aberrations and distortion.
  • During shooting, a high-speed Movie & Stills Compatible (MSC) autofocus system allows you to silently and quickly achieve focus.
  • This focusing system also lets the 25mm lens focus as close as 9.4-inch for getting tightly framed shots.

Description

With a 25mm focal length and 47 degree angle of view, this lens sits right between wide and telephoto designs, making it a great choice as an all-around lens for your photography. A fast f1.8 circular aperture delivers beautifully soft defocused backgrounds for impressive portraits or when subject emphasis is the desired photographic effect. An inner focusing mechanism assures fast and accurate auto-focusing, and because it is an MSC design, it offers nearly silent focusing operation – a great feature when shooting HD movies.

  • Worth the Wait. Fantastic Little Normal Lens from Olympus.
*: Black Style: 25mm f1.8
This Olympus lens has been long-awaited by the Micro 4/3 community, and I am pleased to say that Olympus delivered the goods. Qualities: -Sharp wide open throughout most of the frame with both near and far targets. Overall sharper than the Panasonic Leica 25mm f/1.4 (which I will compare to on several points below) when you consider edge performance. -Less color fringing than the Panasonic even when both are shot on a Panasonic body (I tested both on my GX7 as well as E-M1) -Pleasing/smooth bokeh rendering -Fast autofocus (AF), comparable to the Panasonic -Good AF performance even in very low light -Much closer minimum minimum focus distance than Panasonic -Smaller and lighter than Panasonic (balances better on the smallest MFT bodies) - much smaller if you include the dedicated hoods (finally Olympus includes a hood) -Has solid build, despite being plastic and light. The "decorative cap" is more snug, less inclined to fall off as compared to the Olympus 45mm lens There are lots of samples and analysis to back all of this up at Mu-43.com For me, the Olympus 25mm f/1.8 is a definite keeper. A no-brainer. However, I will also be keeping the Panasonic lens for it's extra 2/3 stop of speed, more shallow DOF capabilty, and unique rendering character. Both are wonderful choices. ... show more

  • Just What I Needed
*: Black Style: 25mm f1.8
This lens is a great addition to any M43 camera. For the price it can’t be beat. Quick, and accurate auto focus. (All pictures were taken with Lumix GX85) Pros: Good price Light weight Compact Affordable especially when bought used Cons: Manual focus is very difficult to use Plastic build feels kinda cheap No zoom option in camera to help with already difficult manual focus ... show more

  • Small size, great performance for OMD system cameras. Value for money.
*: Black Style: 25mm f1.8
I owned a Panasonic 25 mm 1.7 lens prior to this one. I was using it with an Olympus EM10 MkII but I was getting somewhat soft images no matter what I did. I switched to this lens and it made all the difference. It is the perfect choice for a nifty fifty for OMD cameras. I love the size, quality, and handling of the lens as well as the color rendition and definition. It is perfect for the prize. I do street and I carry one lens in my pocket while shooting with the other. Right now my goto combo is this one and the fantastic Olympus 45mm 1.8. ... show more

  • What a Lens!
*: Black Style: 25mm f1.8
I think this is the Olympus version of the famed Cannon 50mm. Tack sharp, wonderful colors, beautiful depth of field, excellent (for Micro 4/3) low-light performance, dreamy and fun. I have the 17mm and the 45mm and this one just feels a lot more useful (though I love the other two, too). If I had to pick just one of the three, this would be it. It's relatively cheap, and the plastic feels a little light, but the glass is just superb. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • This is a Perfect Lens
*: Black Style: 25mm f1.8
Zoom lenses are nice (and you should own a couple), but prime lenses are the basis of fundamental photography. And this one is an absolute jewel. The lens also includes a lens hood, which is a nice feature not mentioned in the description. If you want an ND or polarizer filter for this lens, buy one. But you do NOT need a UV filter, as one is included and built in, another feature not mentioned in the product description. ... show more

  • Great Lens!
*: Black Style: 25mm f1.8
Amazing lens! I bought this to use with my Olympus Pen EPL7 for better quality photos. It does great in natural light and pretty well in low light when you hold your camera steady. Takes pretty photos of food and people (you get a nice little bokeh going on if you are into portrait photography). I use this to take photos for my travel blog too instead of lugging around a heavy camera set up. This is a great lens for the price as well. It is the equivalent of a 50 mm for a full frame DSLR, which is the best lens ever! So, I am glad I have something comparable to use for my smaller cameras. I've included some photos on a trip to Italy so you can get a little idea of what this lens can do. ... show more

  • Nice job with this one Oly
*: Black Style: 25mm f1.8
My rating system: 1. arrived broken or shortly after 2. terrible quality, but works 3. works, but a few things I'd like different 4. Great! Meets expectations for price 5. Exceeds expectations, with surprise features or similar I traded the famed Pany 20mm pancake in to buy this one. I just couldn't take the awful autofocus and constant seeking of the pany. This lens trades pocket-ability for accurate zippy AF and with the extra 5mm of focal length, I feel like it gives me a slightly narrower DOF for nice subject isolation and pleasing bokeh. With the $100 off I got with the body+lens deal, this was totally worth it. Add a L-Fn button, and it would have gotten 5 stars. ... show more

  • An Olympus nifty fifty
*: Black Style: 25mm f1.8
25mm in micro four thirds is equivalent to 50mm in full frame cameras. The promise of micro four thirds is to produce compact cameras as well as compact lenses. This is a feat full frame and APS Mirrorless cameras are unable to match. Enter the Olympus 25mm f1.8. This is a sharp lens that delivers fast and precise auto focus in a very compact size. If you like to shoot at full aperture you will be pleasantly surprised how good this lens is. If you need an all weather prime consider the Olympus 25mm f1.2. Nonetheless The 25mm f1.8 is still a great prime lens that has made its way into my kit. Four lenses I use most often are the Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 PRO, 25mm f1.8 and Olympus 40-150mm f2.8 PRO as well a Sigma 56mm f1.4. ... show more
