This Homestead kennel was cheaper than others which is why I purchased it a few years ago. However, the clamps provided with this kennel bend easily over time and eventually will not keep the panels together (my pups have escaped through the cracks a few times). The clamps slide/fall even after the bolts are tightened repeatedly. Also, the panels are lightweight and are NOT sturdy or strong compared to similar kennels. Therefore, if you ever have to move this structure while it’s assembled, it will easily fall apart and/or collapse on itself. Afterwards, reassembly is a nightmare (sadly it’s happened to me many times). Additionally, the gate latch was missing upon delivery but when I asked for it, the vendor was non-responsive and I’ve since had no luck finding one that can be purchased separately to fit this specific kennel gate (it’s since been secured with a bungee cord). If I had it to do over back then, I would’ve purchased a different kennel of higher quality in the first place. While recently searching for another kennel to purchase, I ran across this one again and wanted to remind buyers that you definitely get what you pay for - lesson learned.

Good kennel but door and lock are SUPER weak. Easy to put together- I did it myself in about 45 minutes (pro tip - set up corners first). I did not use the roof part or canopy because I'm using it indoors and the canopy would cut off visibilty... so I bought 2' X 4' metal grid panels (on Amzn - used for displays) and zip tied those to the top. I put photos here to show. It's been great... however... the way the door attaches - both on hinge side and the very flimsy single gate lock - are not at all secure. 50lb dog popped the door off just by leaning his big bum against it. I've had to use one of the extra grid panels I bought and some bicycle cable locks to MacGyver the door to be secure. For the price I'm more than happy to have to customize it a bit - but the panel wires are thin and the door security issues will NOT work for any dog that has separation anxiety and/or will bite/pull at a confinement.

We own a dog boarding facility and I bought these for small dogs. They will do fine for that but I would never trust these to hold a dog over 25 pounds. Also the rod that holds the canopy up was too long so my husband had to cut it to fit. The brackets that hold it on are flat not curved, so it slips off center of the end pieces it attaches to. My husband will have to drill holes in the end pieces and buy new bolts to make it stay in position. Just keep in mind that you may have to work on these, thus the 3 star review. The rod over the gate is annoying, so we plan to cut it off and use some of the plugs to prevent cuts from the raw edge. If the seller would include enough rubber grommets for the top and bottom of the unit it would be much better. I use these inside and they scratch my floor. Will have to locate extras. All in all, these are still much cheaper than the ones we have gotten from K-9 Kennel Store so will probably buy again.

So happy with this purchase. It arrived earlier than expected and everything was in the box and undamaged. Easy to assemble. Followed the instructions and set up was complete within 45 minutes. Well built and sturdy construction. The top canopy is included which is a great bonus to protect from the elements.

We use ours as a small pen for our Boston Terrier who cannot have unfettered access to the yard due to allergies. I modified the cage for him to be able to access it through his dog door. While using the main door as access for get inside and trim the grass with a weed eater.
