  • Poor quality, not worth the money
My Olympia Tools magnetic vise jaws arrived and there were 3 problems with it. 1) One of the magnets fell off - looks like it wasn't glued in place, 2) half of the magnets protrude from the surface cause the jaws to rock when attached to the vise, 3) the angle on the plastic jaws not 90-degree which also causes the jaws to rock. With these problem, these vise jaws don't actually work. They're not able to hold things securely in place. ... show more

  • Small, light duty
I shouldn't have expected much for the price. The magnets barely hold these jaws to my vice. They are small in height and thickness and feel if you clamped anything substantial in them the jaws would break. Wood, plastic and the like will be OK. Most likely they will fall on the floor when you release the material due to the very weak magnets. I will use these but look for more substantial ones for the long run. ... show more

  • OK-- but limited by its design.
The top level step almost entirely sits above the top of the vise so that if you try to use it, the whole jaw pair rotates up and out of the vise. The Vee grooves are OK. Both the aluminum and plastic jaws needs to be about 1/4" taller (as measured installed in a vise) with the top notch about a 1/4 deeper so that at least half of the top notches sit below the top of the vise's basic jaws. The current design means if you want to rest something on a step in order to keep it from sliding downward, you can NOT do this with this with these magnetic vise jaws. ... show more

  • Plastic Jaw is Junk
As said in other reviews, the plastic jaws are molded so the vise side is not at 90° so it will not fit correctly. The magnets were a disaster, as well. all but one fell out, which was actually a good thing since the polarity of the magnets was installed wrong so the jaws could not be put together in storage. Plastic jaws just broke when tightening down on a rifle barrel. Bottom half flew off to parts unknown. The aluminum Jaws are solid, though, so half off and then some for the plastic junk. ... show more

  • Excellent for the price, I dont think you can beat this set for the money.
I dont see how you could beat these for the price. You get a set of soft jaws and a set of rubber jaws for one low price. They came in a nice retail type package, and fit nicely. They grip securely and dont move in use. The magnets are sufficiently strong so that they stay secured during use and will not marr the vise or work. They have about a 1/8" shelf in the top, which allows clamping of parts by the minimum required for a secure hold. In practice, this allows much better repeatability when taking parts in and out during operations, as it indexes back to the same place each time rather than just holding it somewhere in the jaws. These are not precision ground or advertised as such, so they should not be expected to be a precision tool. They are for holding work you wish not to dent/scratch as you work. Overall, I am very impressed with these for the price. If you are shopping for a set of jaw guards to keep from marking parts as I was, these will fit the bill nicely I think. I dont think you can beat them at the price point for two sets of jaws. ... show more

  • These are meh
These things are pretty simple and pretty hard to mess up but the magnets keep falling out because they aren't glued in and most of them don't fit flush with the material and are in crooked. 3 starts because they will do what they're supposed to do but the magnet feature is poorly executed.

  • Junk...Save your money!
Started off with high hopes out of the package, then about five minutes into using the the aluminium ones the magnets fell out that hold it to the jaws...Then when I switched over to the nylon ones they exploded in the vice as I clamped down the shock shafts I was working on. Junk in my opinion...!

  • Pretty Good. Yet
Pretty Good. Yet, a little more research might have been in order for the inventors for a more universal fit and small part application. These are for holding delicate items. The grooves are too deep for smaller items. I really need larger surface area grab, and smaller vertical and horizontal chambered grooves.. AND the magnet placement is too wide. If the magnets were about 1" closer to center, these could easily be cut down to fit my 4" jaws. I am using them anyway, and have already milled off their faces to get more flush-grab area. The price is very right! ... show more
