    • An exceptional oak bourbon pellet.
I would looking to add a bourbon or whiskey oak pellet to my collection and these were highly recommended. These pellets are phenomenal. I baked a salmon at 400F with butter, salt, black pepper and dark brown sugar. These pellets added a nice smoke flavour along with subtle bourbon elements that enhanced the brown sugar and black pepper. Definitely something to keep in the collection. I definitely need to find more uses for these pellets like in a peach cobbler or something like that. Burns reliably and leaves little ash. All smoking is done on a Traeger Timberline 850. These pellets were so good that I tried the Ol' Hick from this company which are also outstanding and have become my go to pellets for Hickory. I would also love to try their apple if I can ever find them. ... show more

    • a good tasting pellet! but zero detectable bourbon flavor
none of the various whisky pellets impart ANY noticeable liquor flavor. its a scientific improbability (the liquor components are in too low concentration and burn off too quickly) but aside from that, this one is a good tasting pellet. gives an almost "bacon-ish" flavor. while NONE of them impart any liquor flavor at all, i consider the jim beam a far better tasting pellet in it's category. better than bear mountain's bourbon bbq (forgettable) and the crown royal (sweeter) pellets. ... show more

    • Bourbon Barrel Pellets!
I am new to a pellet grill and would like to experiment with different flavors in my cooking. Overall these pellets add a nice aroma while cooking with them. I cooked with them for around 6 hours using the 3-2-1 method for some St. Louis style ribs which turned out excellent. There was a nice smoke ring on the meat and the bones could easily be pulled away from the meat. The smoke flavor was light and subtle, but still a hint there. I will have to see how these can add some flavor to other meat outside of the pork I cooked. Overall, these are nice pellets, but they are a bit pricy. ... show more

These pellets are some of my favorite. It’s not a strong bourbon taste or anything. But, the food was great coming off the smoker.

Jim Beam fan here, so my review is biased! I like the flavor on the ribs. Has a good smoky taste without being overpowering, but not as subtle as apple. Not as strong as hickory. Just a nice, smooth smoke flavor. I couldn't taste the bourbon flavor, but I also had a dry rub on the ribs. Was pleasantly surprised that the pellets smoked much longer than I was used to, but then I remembered - duh! The barrels are made from oak. Going to try it on baby chicks (cornish hens) in a few weeks. Thinking this will pair well with all types of meats. ... show more
