Smooth, glad I went with the higher speed version. Casts a mile with 10lb braid. Smooth drag. Lightweight. Very happy with the reel.

  • Best budget reel I've ever used
Size: EPXT-30, 160yds-10lb Style: Stadard Speed, 5.0:1
I love this reel. I got it for under $40 and it feels like I stole it. I like it more than my $100 Daiwa BG2500. So far I've fished the 3000 size for about a month. I've caught a few 30+ inch Black Drum, lots of big Jack Crevalle, Sheepshead and tons of other fish on it. It's handled them all with ease. I've even dunked it in saltwater a few times on my kayak and it's still as smooth as the day I opened it. All that being said, there are a few things to note about the reel. 1. They run small. The 3000 is more like a 2000. 2. The rotor and body feel like plastic. That's to be expected at this price and is also what makes the reel so light, but durability is a concern. 3. The drag slips. Not terribly, but it happens. 4. The bail doesn't flip shut smoothly when reeling. It sticks often and I have to close it with my hand. 5. The line holder sucks. 6. You'll see people saying you shouldn't use braid with this reel. They're wrong. I've put hundreds of casts on this reel with 15 lb braid and haven't had any tangles or wind knots. In summary, this reel isn't perfect, but it performs as well as reels twice its price. ... show more

  • outstanding caster, smooth
Size: EPXT-30, 160yds-10lb Style: Stadard Speed, 5.0:1
Plus: slow oscillation line lay means this one outcasts even a stradic ci4+ which I also fish, smooth retrieval, and solid solid bail snapback. Felt drag is adequate. This reel is so so good, I swapped out the drags with carbontex and drilled out the handle knob to swap in a machined aluminum knob. Drag now is super smooth and truly powerful. It's a micro saragosa sw now in that the drag pressure ramps up quickly and smoothly. My go to surf reel is the gosa sw6000 and the big + with the gosa is drag and the exact waterproof sealing of the stella sw. The only non solvable nit is the weight being on the heavier side but given it's price, no big deal. This reel in it's price category is way ahead of all it's competitors. Swap out the drag, this reel deserves it. Got the 30 size for $33 a while back. I used the epixor 30 on a daiwa presso ultralight landing stripers on the surf using sandcrabs on owner mutu light circle hooks. cool! ... show more

  • FABULOUS REEL!
Size: EPXT-30, 160yds-10lb Style: Stadard Speed, 5.0:1
I've used them all... All brands, a ton of models and there's always something to nit pick apart on most reels, except this one. This thing is as close to perfect as I've seen. The china brands always have issues, even the expensive ones. I have one of the top of the line KK spinning reels and the drag sticks, then works as expected. I've blown out knots on hook sets because I thought the drag was right. The okuma is buttery smooth. I have a ton of confidence using this reel and over the moon that I can stop searching for a "good" reel. Maybe I got a diamond, but I'm super happy with it. From 4 lbs mono with fingerling trout to 8 lbs striper on big braid, this thing just works. Update: I have 8 of these now and they’re all solid. This is my gold standard fresh spinning model. The ITX from okuma is my salt standard. ... show more

  • Okuma reels are smooth and light weight.

I use this reel on an ultralight spinning rod fishing for crappie. Very smooth and so far durable.

  • Know that it's small!! Great reel!
Size: EPXT-20, 110yds-6lb Style: Stadard Speed, 5.0:1
First thing to know is these are at least one size smaller than the name indicates. The 20 size is smaller than a Daiwa 1500. I bought it for crappie fishing knowing it was small and it's the perfect reel for panfish. It's darn smooth and the drag is consistently smooth. The body is sturdy and feels strong even at the reel foot which is key on these smaller reels. Line lay on mine was perfect. The oscillation is very slow so it works great with braid to reduce over wrapping on the spool and it makes for excellent casting. Slow gear ratio helps me with crappie. For $45 it's a winner. Bought the xt30 also now and it's the same. Awesome reel for the price. Super smooth and I really like how rigid the frame is while still being very light. I put 8lb stren magnathin on it on a 6'6" medium fast rod. Light enough to cast for crappie and plenty strong should the largemouth decide to bite. The technology is simply better than on the low priced small online manufacturers reels. ... show more

Bought a few of these reels for a favorite fishing guide to salmon fish. These have held up very well and the guide has informed me that all his clients have been impressed with the smoothness of the reels. Being fished every day during the season they are holding up excellently. I waited a couple years to write this review so it would be accurate on the durability. ... show more
