Update: I've been using this litter for over a year now. It is BY FAR THE BEST!!! The large box lasts two full months with two cats. Which also makes this the most cost efficient litter I've ever tried. Super easy to use, I just flush it, so now I don't have to have a litter genie out either. The 'fine' or whatever it is clumps well (unless you happen to catch right after a pee). The poops get dried out pretty quick or you can get rid of the smell of fresh quickly by covering (one of my girls doesn't cover unfortunately haha). - - - Original I'm about 4 days in now with trying this litter, and so far I'm really impressed! You can see the 'what I've tried' at the bottom of the review for reference. Does it track? Yes, that is so far the only downfall, but I really don't think you'll find a litter that doesn't, or at least not one that is well-rounded good. Luckily I bought the 'fine' one, so it's like soft sawdust... much better than the neon blue Fresh Step crystals that were previously ending up all over my house and hurt to step on. I have a litter box enclosure with a mat inside, and then a mat outside the enclosure, so much doesn't go beyond those two. It smells like low key just wood. And still after 4 days that is all it smells like. It clumps perfectly, the 'hard goods' get coated completely with it, and so far other than just arriving after a visit to the box, I can't smell ANYTHING. So far it is low dust. I pretty much expect dust from all of them at this point, but this one isn't noticeable. It is soft and easy to clean. Luckily my girls aren't picky at all and I've been able to switch litters whenever and they don't care. This was no different. Luckily it is lightweight too so easy to clean, easy to fill, and my Amazon driver didn't look like he wanted to kill me carrying it up like they did with the 40 lb. Dr. Eisley's box haha. Of the box, I still have about 1/3 or so left to be able to add. Honestly even if it lasts 2 weeks that is going to be better than the Fresh Step Crystals did with my two girls... it just became 'pee dust' at that point and I couldn't handle cleaning anymore. I will update if anything changes, but so far it's got my approval! I've previously tried: Pretty Litter (DON'T do it!), Fresh Step Crystals, Target Clay, Dr. Eisley's Clay, Vibrant Life Mini Crystal

While I was currently using a crystal kitty litter from our grocery store, and it worked perfectly because there was not scent residue after my cat did his business. As a first time pet owner, I ordered ökocat Natural Wood Cat Litter - it is the nicest litter I have tried and I couldn't be happier. The litter clumps SO well which makes clean up a breeze and it controls odors effectively keeping my apartment smelling fresh I use a top exit litter box to minimize traces and it works well with this litter. While there is still some traces, they are minimal compared to what I have seen with other litters. I have tried at least 3 different types of litter in the last three months, and I have finally found the best one. I appreciate how well ökocat works. The natural wood content is a big plus for me, it smells like wood just the way I wanted it. It is something eco-friendly and safe for my cat, you get used to it and it seems to be a healthier option for my pet and home environment.

A couple of years ago, I received a coupon for free box of this litter. I tried it and have been using it ever since. I use the super soft (pink) box because I have a 19 year old cat. The good parts: it’s light weight, inexpensive and one box goes a long way. One box changes one jumbo litter box, one large litter box and a small one. It clumps and absorbs odors pretty well. I have three cats and so long as I scoop daily and change the boxes at the end of the week, you can’t smell them. The bad: this is absolutely not a dust free litter and it tracks like crazy. My cats get it all over the rooms their litter boxes are in and it ends up all over the carpet in the neighboring rooms. We run our vacuum a lot. With that said, I have tried to switch to other litters and always end up coming back to this one. I’m not made of money and nothing else that I’ve found works quite as well for the price.

I have 2 cats and an ever flowing collection of fosters. I have 6 cats at one point and this litter held up. I’ve had several friends gush about how impressive it is that my house doesn’t smell like cat when i’m basically hosting a cat party in here. I keep this item on a monthly automatic shipment because it’s so crucial to my households wellbeing. It clumps really well and handles my IBS cat like no other litter has. I really love that it’s biodegradable because i toss my dirty litter in the compost pile. It’s actually low dust as well because my asthma cat doesn’t react to the box. It does track a bit but unlike clay litter im not washing it out of my cats paws or my bed sheets. I recommend this litter to everyone

This has been my go-to cat litter for years and it never disappoints. I now have only two indoor cats and they seem to use it a LOT. The litter is a grainy sort of "sawdust" but doesn't have the higher dust levels that other litters have, and it seems comfortable on their feet. It clumps really well and the clumps don't break up when I shovel them out. When my cats DO cover their business, it has good odor control and coverage... but it's their choice to cover or not. Kids today. Great value for the money since it lasts a really long time, compared to other litters. As long as they make OKO, I'll be using it!

I use the extra soft, as I have two senior cats. They adjusted to it no problem. Cons first. This tracks. Everywhere. Be prepared to sweep a lot and brush off any surfaces your cat frequents, as this litter will get everywhere. Small price to pay, I’ll happily deal with tracking. HOWEVER…. DUST - Clouds of dust when you pour it. Clouds of dust when you scoop it. A thin layer of dust on everything. Dust particle build up on, in, and around the box. I put the air purifier in with the litter box, (I had previously been using it in the main area of my studio) and within a few days I got the alert to change the filter. I’ve considered buying two containers so I can pour them back and forth outside to get rid of it all. The company needs to address this. Pros. No smell. At all. Ever. There’s of course the basic smell you get because you are using a product and it smells a bit like saw wood. Not bad, just a neutral woodsy smell, never litter box smell. I live in a studio apt, so this is a big thing for me and it’s perfect. Clumps really really well, though sometimes those clumps are HUGE because it clumps so well. It absorbs very quickly, and even if my cats use it right before I clean it, I cover the area with some litter and within a few minutes I can scoop no problem. It does get heavy, so I suggest a heavy duty metal scooper. Biodegradable. This is a big plus, as I have no plans to get rid of my cats, sustainability should be considered. Lasts a long time. Bonus! Final thoughts - if the company could actually make it 99% dust free, easy 5 star review. All litters will track to a certain extent, and if that was the only bad thing about it, then it’s an easy price to pay. I’ll continue to use unless I find a similar product that acts the same, without the dust. No one can afford the number of air filters it currently requires.

My cats can lay some absolute crimes against cat kind in the litter boxes. I have 2 cats. 4 boxes. My boy Lil Man kept using on the rugs right outside the boxes & I read that he might want a softer litter. So, as I was ruling things out with him, I switched to this litter, and I'm NEVER GOING BACK. It fluffs out & lasts longer than the clay based litters. My cats seem to really like it better. It has a natural nice pine scent, so I'm saving money on products I used to buy to mask smells. And that pine scent is pretty nice, too. I'll go in to clean the boxes & there'll be a RANK uncovered affront to my senses in there--enough to make me retch, and I'm not a queasy person. And if I cover it up with the Okocat litter & just keep scooping, it really gets the smell under control way faster than you'd believe. The pine scent mostly takes back over, and I can finish the job without turning green and needing a ginger ale after. It's also lighter than other litters, a surprising bonus for how much you get per lb, but I'm noticing that this also makes it easier for my cats to kick it every which way out of the boxes, so more sweeping. I don't mind though. It doesn't track far.
