Description

The captain of the hockey team has a lot of responsibilities but when it’s just us, all he wants is to be my good boy. Senior year should have been the same as the previous years: football, hook ups, and homework. But after the season ended, somehow, Joey Carpenter happened. He’s weaseled his way under my skin. Into my heart. The strong, intimidating, hockey player melts so beautifully for me and I’m addicted. He pretends like he doesn’t need anyone, but I see him. See what he really needs. The longing to be cared for is there in his eyes. I desperately want to give it to him. If I’m being honest with myself, I need to matter. I need to save him. Save him from himself. Save him from his family. Will I be able to convince him that he deserves to be loved without conditions or will they leave him ragged and broken? Off SIdes is a one night stand to lovers, hockey, romance with daddy vibes and angst. To check trigger warnings, please check my website. Read more

  • ♥ Joey and Nick ♥
♥ Joey and Nick ♥ Genre: M/M Romance Format: E-Book (Kindle Unlimited) Series: Darby U Hockey Boys # 3 I received a free copy of this book via Indie Author Creative and am voluntarily leaving a review. Character Development: 4.5/5 Each character felt like they could exist in the real world. I felt like the characters from previous books weren't over explained to a reader who is caught up in the series but I also felt like there was enough detail for a reader who chose to read "Odd Sides" first. I loved the mental health rep in the book. It felt real and not over dramatized for the story Plot: 4/5 The plot was engaging and well written. It was not heavy on the hockey (which is not a bad thing). I loved watching each character go through it and grow. Writing Style: 4.5/5 The book was well written, with no grammatical or spelling errors. It was not too wordy. Things were explained in a way that didn't feel like overkill. Spice Level: 3.5/5 I will never look at a cinnamon roll the same way, omg.... The spice did not take away from the story. As Brendon said "Consent is sexy, dude." Overall Rating: 5/5 When a dedication, makes you tear up, you know it's going to be a good one. Joey and Nick are my favorite couple in this series (Sorry Preston and Jeremy). The compassion they had for each other could be felt throughout. Nick being patient and learning/understanding what Joey needed was so heartwarming. I absolutely loved them. I just wish there was an epilogue at the end, that showed more of their life after the story ended. Tropes: • College Hockey • Jock X Jock • Hurt/Comfort • Mental Health Rep • HEA ... show more

  • Beautiful end to a beautiful series
I don’t think anything can top Hidden Scars for me but this is definitely a close second. A beautiful end to a beautiful stand alone series. Love how the books incorporate scenes from the previous so you can see things from many pov’s. Will def be reading more from Jaxon.

  • Pastries...
I will never look at pastries the same again lol but darn what a good story! My heart hurt for Joey. You can't help but just hate certain members of his family. Nick, oh Nick!Everyone needs a Nick in their life. This whole series has been absolutely amazing. If you don't shed tears during this book I don't know when you would. Just so good. ... show more

  • very mixed
So I’m really torn on rating this one. Personally I really connected to both characters. My mom died young, I didn’t have siblings to raise but my dad was pretty checked out after that so I had to raise myself. So I loved how painful and relatable it was for me. But I don’t really love how it was written? The writing was 3/5 at best and I feel really bad about saying that because I was very emotional reading this, but it was not possible to ignore the writing. I think I read this at a time in my life when it was extremely relatable to my current life situations, but I don’t plan on revisiting it. ... show more

I love this book so much. Nick & Joeyy are my favorite of this series. I love how Nick takes his time to show Joeeey he deserves to be loved and can trust that Nick will take care of him, unlike everyone else in his life.

  • very touching
This book tugs at your heart strings as one broken boy finds love, himself and becomes a man. Very sweet, sometimes sad story that shouts love, and sex, conquers all.

  • Joey and Nick 🥹🥺🥰
I knew I was done for starting with the dedication. I just knew I was going to be in my feels from start to finish. Despite knowing this, I was unprepared for the range of emotions I was going to feel reading this story, of seeing more of Joey and Nick. They are my babies and I would do anything and everything to protect them and their happiness. They have wormed their way into my heart and there they shall stay. I have been obsessed with this series since Hidden Scars and I’ve just made it my whole personality to anyone who will listen. That pattern of behavior will also be applied to this book and to Joey and Nick. When I found the their “little story” in the Worthy anthology, really just this bit that I downloaded, I was obsessed. Though it was a shock finding out Carpenter’s actual name is Joey. I met him as Carpenter or Carp for short so that was a fun shock for me. Okay, now for the actual review and not just me gushing about my feelings 😂 I RAN to my email to get my hands on their story and I have focused on nothing else but them and their story and it consumed me in the best way. I loved seeing more of Joey and seeing him grow, even if I didn’t like some parts of his past and present. He was carrying so much and to know, to feel, that no matter what you’re doing it’s not enough and that you’re at fault when something goes wrong, I have never felt so seen in my life. Being the oldest sibling sucks sometimes and the pressure that comes with can be overwhelming and daunting because you’re expected to keep going and not break, despite wanting to. It can become too much. So seeing Joey find Nick, someone who lets him fall apart when he needs comfort healed something in me and I loved this for him. Nick was just who he needed and I loved seeing their relationship develop and how patient Nick is with him. This isn’t to say Nick was perfect (but I think he is) and not without baggage of his own. He is perfect for Joey and Joey was also able to help him as well. He was learning to need someone and that’s all Nick ever wanted and they are a perfect balance. I also loved seeing cameos of the other Darby U hockey boys, the ones who first made me fall in love with this series and world. God I love this book, this series and all of my hockey boys and Nick 😂 I hope there’s more in this world because I’m definitely going to miss it if this is the end. ... show more

  • Drew me in and kept me
This one was hard to put down. I loved the two MCs and the way their relationship developed, how THEY developed and grew through the story. There was so much hope, and the ending was so satisfying. I still want more Nick and Joey! And cinnamon rolls!
