  • Best Value I've seen
I'd probably give this a 4 star without the bonus USB repeated cable. These sensors are okay. As a replacement, this would be no problem but I'm using it for the 3-sensor roomscale setup and I've had such a difficult time (and I've read this on forums) with getting all 3 sensors to properly work during the setup procedure. If you manage to finally get past that, it's fine. Not sure if it's the sensor itself or software, but it's ridiculously stupid. If you're looking at buying a sensor, you get a free cable with this and if you have an Oculus, it's not like you have an option to buy some other sensor. Anyways, the base is detachable which is nice. I bought a 3D printed wall mount which I used the detached part of the sensor to cover my rear for roomscale. Stock cable size is decent and the bonus cable size is generous. ... show more

  • Doesn't always include a repeater cable
Though the description clearly says "Includes 16ft Repeater Cable", mine came with no such cable. The included cable attached to the sensor isn't long enough to use for the back of the room, which is the reason most people would order this. Sending it back for a refund. EDIT: Since some people said theirs did include the repeater cable, I ordered another one 3 days later and that one did include the repeater cable. It was a Monoprice USB 2.0 repeater cable packaged separately from the sensor. Once I got the sensor with the repeater cable, this worked great and really improved my VR experience. I think this allowed me to put my 2 original sensors a little farther apart so it was easier to get to the recommended room size. I've had far fewer problems with the Rift losing tracking since I got this extra sensor. Given it's relatively cheap price, I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • Works great, but a few notes
In the package it states that you should visit the website for "important steps" to using a 3 sensor rig for 360 tracking. In reality it's plug and play with one specific condition. You can only have 1 of the 3 sensors plugged into USB3.0. Once that condition is met, just re-configure the tracking and guardian boundaries. You're good to go. First thing I noticed is that the micro stutter is gone when I'm aiming down a scope in Pavlov. I've also noticed that I can actually throw things with some speed now. Before I was running 2 sensors on a 10x15' play area and there were small dead zones I would run into if I got too close to one or the other camera, I was also having an issue with the tracking following my hands properly when transferring inertia to an object. Making grenades just as hazardous for me as the other guy. Not having those issues anymore, so looks like this was a good fix for the little things that bugged me in full room-scale play. Hope this helps anyone else looking to resolve some of the tiny issues they may have experienced with experimental operation modes on the rift. Or those who were thinking; "Do I 'really' need 3 sensors?". ... show more

  • Something to be aware of... (Sends USB 2.0 extension cable)
As the header reads, I purchased this additional sensor and the included extension cable figuring that the extension cable will be USB 3.0 capable. My package arrived minutes ago and to my dismay upon opening it, I discovered that the extension cable was only USB 2.0 capable. While I could still run with a USB 2.0 cable, I purchased the additional sensors to ensure I would not have any tracking loss. Using a USB 2.0 cable with the 3.0 capable system was not part of the plan. I'm leaving 4 stars simply because the sensor can work on a 2.0 system as well as the price point of this bundle is priced equivalent to a stand alone sensor so I am not really out any money if I had of bought the sensor on its own. and then purchased extension cables on my own. (Which is what I'll be doing, unfortunately.) It would have been nice to know it ships with a 2.0, so I could buy a separate 3.0 cable. But it's nothing a trip to best buy can't fix. ... show more

  • 3 sensors are wayyyyy better
I have oculus, Vive and psvr they all have their strengths and weaknesses PS4 the most user friendly, plug and play no hiccups but poorest of all systems in tracking and room scale Vive hands down Winner on tracking and overall experience biggest problem, constant hang ups, long old times, rebooting, so many vr titles that a lot get pushed through that are crap and waste of money. The headset is the heaviest and most cumbersome Occulus has a polished library more stable os, hand gesture with touch, lightest of the sets and until the 3rd sensor was lacking in room scale. The only gripe I have with occulus is although their content is great why some titles are exclusive to each other sucks. The other thing no way glasses are fitting inside the headset, smaller area. ... show more

  • Needed for room scale tracking
Bought it for room scale. Works great and came with an extension cable. What's not to like? Setting up room scale with the Rift can be a bit fiddly but the software shows you which sensor to move or rotate if needed. You also need to make sure you have the USB bandwidth to accommodate the third sensor. This should be a USB 2 port as putting a third sensor on a USB 3 port is too much for a single USB 3 controller. The difference being that the sensor sends raw data to the PC when plugged into USB 3 and compressed data when using USB 2. In practical use for me the room scale tracking seems to work very well in the approximately 12x10 foot area I have defined with 2 sensors on USB 3 and one on USB 2. ... show more
