    • Does not work for 2018 Honda Accord Touring
It will scan, but it will NOT do any of the functions that I want. This effectively is the same as a $15 scanner from Walmart if you have a 2018 Honda Accord Touring. dont buy if so...

    • 6 GB software patch required?
Unlike reports from some other reviewers about this device needing a very large update patch, mine apparently did not need anything close to that size. After I downloaded the app, it only had to install a single quick update for a GM vehicle that I had already plugged the dongle into before it updated, and shortly thereafter it was all ready to go. My best guess is that if you activate the software before the dongle is plugged into a particular vehicle, then it may just preemptively download updates for every vehicle manufacturer it covers instead of just the single one needed at the time. In anticipation of needing so much storage space, I had already purged my phone of nearly everything I could and managed to just barely make enough room, but the size of the app plus the GM vehicle patch afterwards ended up only being 730 MB total, so I guess I'll still have plenty of room left after all. Besides basic complaints inherent to most mid grade foreign made scan tools I've used before (poor English translations, redundant menu choices, slow interface, occasional glitches), my only major one so far with this device is that the dongle is difficult to slide on to the OBD port of my car. I had to grab the OBD port with one hand to stabilize it well enough to be able to slide the dongle on with my other hand to not feel like I was going to break the OBD port off. Other than that, as far as performance goes all of the most common live data and tests that I use relatively agree when compared to other scan tools that I have, and all of the non-critical trouble codes I already knew I had showed up on this scan tool too. Since I have not had any other major trouble with it so far I will go ahead and give it 4 stars for now, and if it earns any more or less in the future then I will come back to update this review and rating as well.     • An excellent budget option
I like this. I test OBD2 scanners regularly, most of them higher end $200+ versions from Mucar, Autel and Foxwell that come with bags of options and bright, crisp touchscreens, so I didn't expect to be impressed with a little plastic dongle that needs to be paired with a phone, but I've been pleasantly surprised. On the same day I tested the THINKSAFE I also tested a similarly priced ThinkScan SDF100 from the same brand, which is a full unit with touchscreen that retails at approximately the same price. I expected to prefer the ThinkScan, but it turns out the be the other way around. See, where the ThinkScan is a full sized scanner with a touchscreen it seems most of the money went into the device rather than its functions, so the features were quite limited. The THINKSAFE, on the other hand, is just a little plastic dongle that probably only cost a few dollars to manufacture, so what you're paying for are the features. This thing connected to every car I plugged it into. and it gave me simple health reports for each of them without missing a beat. It wouldn't be nearly enough to satisfy the needs of a professional mechanic, but if you want to keep on top of your car's performance or you're planning to check out used cars this thing is invaluable. ... show more

    • Very Powerful Diagnostic Tool
I’ll admit that this wasn’t exactly what I was looking for when I received this scanner, but it works very well. I was really looking for a nice, high-quality scanner that I could use with various third-party apps to monitor my car’s performance while driving, but this only seems to work with the specific app. While this can record and graph information while driving, it’s not something with a nice configurable app dashboard that I could add my own gauges. That being said, as far as a diagnostic tool goes, this is one of the best that I’ve seen. I frequently mess with the programming in my car, and sometimes things don’t work out right. They might not cause any outwardly visible signs, and won’t trigger a check engine light, but faults can still be recorded in various modules. With this scanner and it’s app, if was finding all of those “hidden” errors and identifying them, going far beyond just giving me an error code that doesn’t show up in any Google searches. This scanner and app can specifically tell me which module has incompatible settings loaded into it. None of my cars have any actual problems, so I haven’t used it to really diagnose any faults, but from what I can tell, it would be outstanding for this use. The Bluetooth connection is very solid, unlike some other Bluetooth scanners that I’ve used. Not once did it lose its connection. It just works.
