Works very well. My sister was in a wheel chair and part of her therapy was to walk around the pool. She wore this to feel comfortable in the water and 3 months later graduated to swimming laps wearing the belt. Gave her buoyancy while allowing her to exercise. The float pad has good buoyancy for a 160 lb person. It works well enough for me to perform my deep-water PT exercises and for my aqua aerobics classes. It could be improved by a wider strap, because this one (about 1.25" to 1.5" wide) often turns over or slips off the ends of the floatation pad. That doesn't make you sink or anything, just requires a quick adjustment, a bit annoying. Friend's float belt just like this one has lasted 6 years just fine, so it's durable. ... show more

Got these for snorkeling in Hawai’i. Wife and I are in our mid 50’s and not as strong as we used to be. It was nice having just enough extra floatation so we could stop out in the water and fix our masks. I didn’t try diving with it, probably would be difficult. They take up a lot of luggage space. We pretty much had 3/4 of a medium suitcase devoted to snorkeling equipment. They seemed secure and comfortable to wear, no problems with needing adjust them as we swam. I attached it around my waist, hooked on a waterproof pouch and hopped in the ocean. It kept my body along the surface and didn’t allow my butt to sink which was perfect when I snorkeled over shallow coral reefs. Used daily for 7 days.
