Made of durable metal, the transitional-style shade offers a clean, casual look and general all-over room lighting. Use it anywhere from over the kitchen table or bar to above a sitting area in the living room or in a workshop, game room, or studio. The shade comes with a 12-foot power cord for easy hanging installation, and it uses a 150-watt A19 medium-base incandescent light bulb (not included). We bought four of these in white. It looks fantastic for the price! This is a wired light - meaning that you install it on an existing conduit box. You can use extra cord and drape from a hook adjacent to the box if the box location isn't where you want it. I took off a star because the directions were not for the product we purchased. The directions didn't show the mounting plate, the position of the four screws, etc. And when you're on a ladder trying to hang a light, you really don't want to have to guess over and over and over... We probably disconnected and reconnected the light about 4 times. Also, the screws to connect the white cap onto the box are so long that they don't work - I'm going to pick up alternate (shorter) screws and hopefully this will fix the problem. If anyone has a copy of the (correct) directions that match this product, please upload them. We bought 4 and all 4 lights have the wrong directions inside. *** EDIT August 4, 2015 - Contacted the company, they sent out a new direction sheet that is the actual product and offered to help however they could. Light looks great and easy to install in my kitchen. I bought an old house recently and it had a very similar light but was an old off white and looked horrible. I thought it was just a cheap piece of junk and threw it in the basement. Then I started seeing them in models and pictures online and they looked really. So I ordered this silver one and it looks sort of "retro-modern". Kind of conservative yet kind of hip. Then I took the old one from the basement, cleaned it up, and spray painted it a high gloss brown with antique white for the inside and put it over my dining room table. It looks great and much cleaner than the chandelier type light I had with a bunch of glass and shades, etc. I think this style lamp looks great, is versatile, easy to install, and such a bargain that you can change it if you get tired of it. ... show more

I needed a light or a lamp for my bedroom, and because II have a wall outlet wired to the switch by the door (see the note below) I was looking for a swag lamp. The brushed nickel exterior looks a lot better than I expected and the white inside the shade ensures that the reflected light isn't harsh. I'm using a "warm" light led bulb so I can't speak to heat issues. The cord is extra long, so you'd probably be able to make it work for most scenarios. Note: This is NOT a plug-in lamp. I saw the length of the cord, didn't see hard-wire in the description, and made an assumption. Ended up ordering a straight blade industrial angle plug (Leviton 5266-CA) because I figured that would be easier than shipping this one back and finding another plug-in that I liked as much at a similar price. ... show more

I got a pair of these hung today and they look great, this would be a 5 star review if the instructions were of any use whatsoever. I'm attaching a pic of the proper setup of the included hardware. The outer screws are from the ceiling box (not included with the lamp), the next two inner screws are for mounting the base plate and screw in from the opposite side, make these long as they will tighten up as you install the nuts and it's a lot easier to get the bolts thru the holes (learned this on the second lamp). The green is the ground of course, install the ground wire from the lamp here before you lift the lamp off the floor. There is ample wire provided with the lamp, once you figure out how much cord you need just run the wire thru the baseplate and make a knot at the right place and cut off the excess leaving about a foot past your knot. The knot is the only thing that supports this lamp. The wiring is basic, black to black, white to white. It's a bit more challenging when your holding a lamp with one hand tho, so if you can get a helper now's the time. (I did mine solo and it was a bit tricky). Screw the outer screws into the box, then wiggle the baseplate over the brass screws and attach the little nubs and tighten til the inner bolt takes up all the slack and your done. I really didn't mean to give a total step by step when I started here, but if it helps someone then it's all good. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this lamp again and after running the EMT and wiring to set this all up today, the lamps really were the easiest part of my days project. ... show more

Received the light and found it had a kind of blotchy haze on the canopy. Let the company know and they got right back to me and stayed in touch until the problem was solved. In the end, all it took was a little car wax to make the light shiny...so, problem solved. Easy to install and it looks great. I still can't get over how concerned the company was and how they stayed on it until it was fixed. Wish we needed another light so we could deal with them again. ... show more

I did a lot of pricing around before purchasing these lights. I am extremely pleased at the quality, condition, and value. They arrived promptly and well packed. They do have the UL sticker to address someone else's question. The cord is black and is about 12 feet long...more than ample length for an old high farmhouse ceiling. There is a matching red ceiling cover included, as well. (website did not mention or show the ceiling cover, so I was not actually sure it would be included...very happy!) The color is a true red. The price for these lights is so much less than even the plain aluminum color metal at the big box stores...AND you can't get them there in RED! ... show more

The size, shape, and function of this light is great! However, the shade of green is very different than what is shown in the description. I wanted a grassy green but the light is almost a forest green. It is not ugly and I am going to keep it but I was really looking for what was shown in the description.
