  • best protein if you hate artificial taste
Flavor Name: Unflavored Size: 69 Servings (Pack of 1)
i almost never make reviews but this product deserves a great one, i was a little worried when i got it as it catched my eyes that it was “unflavored” i was pretty sure it was gonna still have that artificial taste almost all proteins have, but i was preasently surprised, it mixes great, its not thick and hard to swallow, it has no flavor at all, no sweetness no nothing, PERFECT, its almost like it just has a light kinda milk taste when mixed with water… if you just take protein powder to hit your macros and you hate the fake flavoring most protein powders got, then this is perfect for you, their creatine is also great too and best in price. ... show more

  • Affordable protein
Flavor Name: Unflavored Size: 69 Servings (Pack of 1)
The product arrived with a safety seal and a freshness seal which is nice to see. The freshness seal was a job in itself to remove. It required my teeth, the handle side of a spoon, strategic peeling and patience. Once open (workout completed...lol) there was a very mild scent somewhat like malt or raw oats but, I'm not really sure because it was unique. The scoop was visible and not buried thankfully. I tasted the powder off of my finger and it had once again a very mild taste somewhat like malt or raw oats. I have not taken protein supplements since my days of body building which have long since passed. Back then I was taking EAS Myoplex and it was then, and is now, extremely expensive. Considering I weighted 268lb when I started lifting again and dropped 38lb over several months, the cost for protein would of been too much for my budget supplement or food wise. The problem was that I was extremely sore and it was taking an extreme amount of time to heal between workouts, so I decided to go back to protein supplements. Daily I make a vegetable and berry smoothie that I put all of my powders and supplements in. So, after putting THIS protein concentrate into that same smoothie, it did change the taste. It made it again taste kind of like a mild malt flavoring which did permeate throughout the mixture and was stronger than expected. It wasn't a bad flavor mind you, but it was definitely not flavorless. I think this taste is typical for whey protein because I did recognize it. I went with the concentrate rather than the isolate because of price and taste. Yes, you get a few less grams of protein per scoop but, I didn't want a chemical taste from the over processing of the isolate. I will try the isolate from this same manufacturer next and compare them. The most important point is that this is an affordable, 3rd party tested, contaminate limit product and is comparable to most of the products produced by this company. No it is not tasteless but, it does not have a bad taste. Considering the amount of eggs (which are comparable pricewise right now) I would have to eat daily this seemed a much more viable option. ... show more

  • Taste good, but gave my wife gas
Flavor Name: Strawberry Milkshake Size: 61 Servings (Pack of 1)
Tastes good, huge bottle, 25 grams of protein per scoop is awesome. Blends up super nice. It takes atleast 2 scoop for a good shake though. Only 3 downsides I see so far. 1. It contains sucralose 2. It gave my wife the Fluffies ( Bluey reference) she was tooting and scooting all around the house for about 2 hours. 3. I may end up with divorce papers if she ever reads this review lol Overall probably one of the better protein mixes I've had, top 3 for sure. ... show more

  • Protein is and price are good, taste is decent.
Flavor Name: Vanilla Size: 63 Servings (Pack of 1)
I've been using protein powders for about 20 years, and I've tried many brands in my time. I usually use vanilla flavored protein, as that flavor tends to compliment just about every other type of flavor one would mix it with. Since a lot of my regular protein brands have jumped up in price severely, I figured I'd give this one a shot and see how it was. When it comes to taste, this brand's vanilla flavor has a distinct buttery overtone that can be hit or miss, depending on how one is planning to use it. For baking (Yes, try baking with whey powder to boost up the protein content of muffins or whatever), this might be a real win! Most vanilla flavored protein won't add much sweetness to things, but it will contribute to the overall result in terms of flavor (for better or worse). For my preferences, the flavor detracts from how I use it. I'm prefer a much more straightforward vanilla flavor, and the buttery flavors just throw me off. You might personally like that, and if so, then this is the protein for you! Another small gripe is that when I mix this with my shaker in my post-workout concoction, it tends to foam up A LOT. I attribute this to the fact that all the protein in this is whey CONCENTRATE, and not a mix of isolate AND concentrate, which is what I'm used to. No matter what, protein is protein, and whether it's concentrate or isolate, the protein amount and quality is the same in the end. The difference is that isolate is approximately (by volume) 90% protein and concentrate is approximately 79% protein, which means that there's a bit more of the other components of the milk that the whey originally came from that are present. A bit more fat, sodium, and cholesterol will be in it, but a far smaller amount than whole milk, of course. All this to say that when I mix my shake, I have to let it sit on the counter undisturbed for over 10 minutes just to get the foam to decrease and become somewhat drinkable. It still has a lot of foam after that, but at least it's not an overwhelming amount at that point. In conclusion, I think this protein is a price conscious smart buy, assuming the cost (about $56 a lbs at the time of writing this) stays relatively the same. I like the consistency of the dry powder, as it's a satisfying granular texture vs the flour-like texture I'm used to with the isolate dominant varieties I normally consume. The buttery taste is ok, but the foaming really gets to me. It's such an annoyance that I'll probably keep searching for a similarly priced product that won't foam as much after mixing. If you're OK with a little extra foam and a buttery vanilla flavor, then this is right for you. ... show more
