ive taken multiple magnesium glycinate supplements, most work, some not so much, these are ones that work very well. nutricost continues the trend of great supplements for great prices, ive basically swapped to this brand for a variety of things (including the grass fed protein powder). easy to adjust the dose, i find 1 per day at night is usually good enough, 2 or 3 if im really trying to sleep. noticeable results even after the first day, i just slept instead of waking up over and over and over again. i also take it since ive had a deficiency before, so i try to take it somewhat regularly, on and off, but the sleep benefits also are great. ... show more

Where to start. This is what my experience has been like. Yours certainly may vary. I'm not offering medical advice here. I'm just giving information so others can make informed buying decisions. I started out taking the full recommended dosage of 3 capsules (about 210mg of magnesium). I did this at bedtime. The next day, I had caustic diarrhea. I literally had pain down below. I had to use Gold Bond medicated powder to calm things. I learned to EAT FOOD WHEN I TAKE THIS. What is supposed to happen is that the magnesium gets absorbed into your small intestine as part of the digestive process. If you don't eat, when you take it, it causes too much of it to pass through to the large intestine. It pulls in a lot of water, and apparently digestive acids as well, and it hurts when it leaves. Trust me on that one. It still works well in helping me relax so I can sleep even if I take the capsules at supper time. I have had a history of IBS since I was a baby. Not great, I can tell you. I'm currently on a medication that also has a tendency to cause diarrhea multiple times per day. I'm not saying this product did it, but that has calmed down greatly since I started consuming it with food. My doctor says it does not interfere with my medication, but it sure seems to complement it very well. This is my observation based on no medical study. I'm just an average Joe here. I am not saying it cures anything at all. It just seems to help me with some of the not-so-great side-effects of my IBS medicine. Gentle, Effective Magnesium That Actually Works

I’ve been very happy with Nutricost Magnesium Glycinate. The capsules are easy to take and have become a regular part of my daily supplement routine. Nutricost Magnesium Glycinate Capsules (210 mg) 360 capsules: Always be responsible and consult with your physician before taking OTC supplements! Our Primary Care Physician suggested this product to primarily help my husband with sleep issues (following a number of other health challenges) and also mentioned it may help with muscular discomfort at night. After the first night, my husband reported that he noticed that he fell asleep much faster and was able to fall back asleep quickly after a trip to the restroom. He wasn't sure if his muscles felt better, since he was sound asleep (regardless, that's a win). I want to point out that my husband is a skeptic and for him to admit that something works is a big statement. I have tried the supplement myself, and what I have noticed is that I am not waking up as frequently due to aches and pains. Previously, I have been restless and waking up nearly every 45-75 minutes, and by 3:00-3:30 am the best I can expect is to lightly doze until I get up at 4:45 am. I am now only waking up a couple of times during the night and reaching that light sleep cycle closer to 4:00 am. This is a huge improvement for me. ... show more
