It was somewhat gritty the first time I tried it, so now I just blend it in my magic bullet for a minute or two just to make the grain more fine. There's basically no texture after that! I subscribed to the unflavored powder. It's not the best by itself, but I like that it's more versatile and gives me the option to add some chocolate to it, or add it to fruit smoothies. Between a whey protein shake in the morning, and this one in the evening, it covers a lot of my daily protein goal (made with milk). This review is for Unflavored. Overall, it is a good protein source. It is pure, simple, cost effective, and digests fairly well with much less gas/bloat than whey protein. It is difficult to find single ingredient protein powders, and this fits the bill. The texture can be gritty if you don't add any other ingredients. I mix with 16 ounces of milk, 1/2 a teaspoon of nutmeg, and a tablespoon of cane sugar. I get headaches from artificial sweeteners, and I like to control my sugar intake, so a single ingredient protein powder like this is ideal.
