I've read the reviews on this rug so I see that a lot of folks have been disappointed. I bought it and was delighted, but I think the difference is that I was very aware of what I was buying and not everyone is. So, before you buy, here's some info on this rug and those like it. (Also, for those who can't get it to uncurl, the trick is to roll it back up the opposite way. The natural fibers will overwrite the fiber's memory quicker.) I have a number of sisal and seagrass rugs, including everything from custom jobs for my stairs and kitchen to this one from Amazon that I had zero familiarity with other than background on material and weave. Lots of folks think all seagrass is the same or that sisal is the same as this, but none of that is true. This particular rug is woven into a less tight and more textured pattern, using a sturdy seagrass that takes a beating, but isn't soft on the feet. It's best used in places where wear needs to be hidden, but comfort on tender bare feet isn't a must. It's not for places where people wear skinny high heels either. I got this to replace one in my kitchen, which has hardwood floors, in a high traffic area for the dog as well as people. For that purpose, it's perfect. The variations in color make any dribbles from glasses or dog drool invisible. The texture gives it stability for my dog as he races madly for dinner time, completely freaking out because there's food involved. It's also great because it's winter and people are walking around in socks and this gives some protection from slips. So, I would say this is perfect for that. If you're looking for a flatter weave with less texture against the feet, then you might want a boucle sisal and not a seagrass like this one, though those also stain far more easily. Also those are more pricey, if that's a consideration. A sisal in a plain, tight weave of the exact same size with the exact same color border cost 2.3 times as much as this last year, so that's something to consider. It was good quality, yes, but it's more expensive in general than looser seagrass.

I did lots of research regarding natural fiber rugs. Seagrass wins by far and the one we settled on is beautiful. It is under our dining table and is also part of a walk way that gets heavy traffic. The chairs glide comfortablely on the rug and the traffic area looks as fresh as when we got it. Oh yeah... we have had spills and accidents on the rug. There is no residue or ugly water/cleaner spot left from cleaning... I just use water to dilute the stain and towels to sop it up... so easy!!! It vacuums well and even is sweepable for quick clean ups. It is a little coarse on bare feet I suppose for the tenderfoot; it is not plush carpet, but we walk on it barefooted and it doesn't bother us. I wish I had purchased on years ago. Lastly we didn't purchase a pad to put it on... the one sewn on the back works perfectly well. Hope this is helpful.

I purchased this rug to give as a house warming gift. I was at first hesitant to make the purchase sight unseen but after receiving this rug I was not dissappointed! The entire purchasing process was great with exception to shipping which actually took 5 business days (not 2-3 as Amazon committes) with an additional 2 day transit time. Amazon customer service made it right with a simple call. Quality of this rug is fantastic and the listed size in both length and width are spot on (8' x 10). This rug also has a antislip layer incorporated on its bottom side which is very effective so it could definitely be used in a high traffic location without worry. Five stars all the way!

came with several large threads pocking out and/or cut in the middle. am not sure if mine is just damaged (given the amount of threads cut off it seems like it) or if its just how they manufacture it, but it certainly looks very different on the picture than it does in person. According to reviews it looks like some of us get good ones, some of us get bad ones.

This is my fourth seagrass rug purchased on Amazon. This particular rug is the largest. After comparing several rugs, I went with this one mostly due to price. I've had it for several months now, and these are my observations: * Does not seem as durable as others due to the amount of fibers that have broken and/or come unwoven. I constantly have to snip the ends that keep popping up. * The smell is taking MUCH longer than usual to dissipate. Because I have had several seagrass rugs over the past ten years, I know what to expect in terms of smell. I don't mind the slight grassy/hay smell as it eventually goes away, but this rug STILL has a strong (almost barn-like) odor that, due to the rug's size, permeates the entire living area. Finally, I do not love the color, as it is actually much darker than it appears online. I have a feeling I will need to re-place this rug sooner than I had anticipated, so I am living with it for now, but I would not purchase it again.

Thank god I decided to go with this rug. It looks great, its very low maintenance and resistant. I have two 40-50 lbs dogs and two cats. The dogs play on it, drip water on it, and the cats do their nails on it. I did have to trim the little straws that were sticking out because the animals wanted to pull on them. We have had it for around 6 months and it still looks great! Its in a high transit area and holding up great, we get a lot of compliments on it. When we first received it the smell was pretty strong for 2 days, but not a bad smell at all. The only bad thing I have to say is it took FOREVER to relax the rug and make it completely flat. It held the shape in which it was rolled for at least 2 months. Once that was over though, I have nothing bad to say!

The 8 x 10 rug matches my roman shades very nicely. The rug rolled out flat and nice when it arrived. Because of its neutral tones, I can decorate with any colors and it will all mesh well together. We live near Lake Oconee and seagrass and sisal type rugs go with a lot of outdoor and indoor decor around here. Very happy with it's craftsmanship too.
