Prior reviews had me ready to send this rug back but I won't need to. 8.6x11.6 size is exactly what I needed. It's jute so it's imperfect but that's the look on those things. I've owned enough of them from high-end stores to 2nd hand ones to know there is no perfect jute rug. If it's perfect, it just ain't jute. It's braided tightly and this thing is a beast to schlep around/under furniture but it looks really good. I like the feel of jute which is like walking on massage beads. It's not a high maintenance rug and very forgiving of a crowded household. I trimmed or knotted up some loose ends and no one can tell the difference. The rug is thick, and came without debris/sand/dirt or smell. I previously owned one just as big I had paid $400 for, so the price on this is pretty fair, IMO. ... show more

I ordered this jute rug because I thought it was a descent price for the jute rug this size. The rug is good and heavy but easy to unroll. The first thing I noticed upon opening the plastic was the strong petroleum-like smell from the rug. I read a few reviews that mention the smell, but it was too strong for me. I'm sure there is some logical explanation for why the manufacturer douses the rugs in the solution, but it was too much. I tried letting it sit for three days hoping the scent would dispel but didn't happen. It took a couple of weeks before the scent lifted. Another issue I had with the rug is does not lay flat, so I found myself tripping a couple of times. It frightens me to think that someone will trip over the edges. Hopefully, the ends will flatten out over time. The rug tends to move a bit, so I will be purchasing a mat for the rug. Overall, the rug is made well. It has tight weaves throughout. The color is natural jute with a little green in it. I like the rug, but I'm not in love with it. It wouldn't be worth returning it for something else. ... show more

THIS RUG IS THICK & BEAUTIFUL. I live in a farmhouse & jute rugs keep the dust & dirt from adjacent fields from getting tracked around the house. I have jute rugs as a base for layering, jute runners in the halls & circular ones in the entryways. THIS IS THE BEST OF ALL OF THEM. The 9x13 is on our den. Purchase this 4 months ago. Was debating between this item, or one that was twice the price but could be washed. This item said hand wash only so I assumed an occasional spot treatment was possible. Had one spot on the edge of the rug that I needed to clean so I carried the rug outside and placed that one edge over the rail and cleaned it and rinsed it. The entire 3 ft area turned light brown. Thought maybe it didn't dry fast enough so trying to even out the discoloration I wet and the area around it and tried to dry it promptly in the sun and with a fan. The new area that I wet turned light brown as well. I now have two different colors and it is very unsightly. Will try to wet the whole thing to uniformly discolor, but now it's not the color I wanted. Initially, I loved this rug and it served all the intended purposes. There was some variation in the off-white color which I thought added character. The fact that I cannot spot treat areas that become soiled would have been a deal breaker had I known this prayer to purchase. The care instructions should be updated. But if you're putting the rug in an area that you don't expect the need to clean or spot treat with any wet substance, it's a nice looking rug (for the appropriate decor). ... show more
