I can't speak of the durability as I've only had the rug for about a month, but I have 2 dogs and have had no problems with snags from their claws. I’m very impressed with this rug. I wanted the layering effect and didn’t want to fork over pottery barn prices for a rug that would mostly be covered by another rug. After a long search I bought this one. I totally intended to be disappointed, but I’m actually very impressed. It’s a beautiful natural color. It’s well made and isn’t falling apart. This rug has the appearance of a neutral rug like jute but the texture of walking on a thick sweater. I liked it so much in a smaller size in my kid’s room that I bought another one for our bedroom! I do recommend getting a rug pad for underneath, as this rug does not have a rubber backing and moves around a lot without one. With one, it stays in place perfectly and lies flat nicely. Absolutely love this rug. Just bought my second one.. our Aussie puppy put the first one through heck, lol, and it still held up pretty well. However, it was time for a replacement.. and happy to report, Kiba is 2 now and no longer chewing rugs!

    • Rug smells like dirty shoes and the smell does not go away.
I searched forever for a jute rug. When i was ready to buy, the review mentioned bad smell and shredding too often. I found this rug that was a nice look and no smell problems mentioned. Well... it smelled odd when I opened it. I thought it would disappear over time, so I set it out. Looked great, but i had a hard time with wear due to my dogs. This rug is made up of strings and the dog nails pull them easily. 6 minth later my husband complained of an "dirty shoe" smell. The smell of the rug was not going away. I spayed it with febreze with no help. I decided to take it outside to air. Still "dirty shoe" smell. I need rugs for bedrooms in my house, but didnt want those rooms to smell like dirty shoes. Unfolded with no permanent wrinkles. Lies easily but because it’s a knit weave, several small areas bunch up and need to be patted down or pulled so these areas lie flat. This rug needs a pad because there is no cushioning effect . After 3 weeks, small fiber areas have started to come up. See photos. I live alone with no pets. So I would not recommend this rug if you have pets with claws. Will need to trim these ends with small scissors. I do love the two tone effect which will easily hide dirt and crumbs. ... show more
