From Non-GMO Safflower Oil CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is a class of fatty acids produced by animals that is naturally found in beef and dairy products. Although CLA plays an important role in a number of cellular metabolic processes, humans are not able to produce CLA and therefore can only obtain it from the diet. Since CLA is generally more abundant in grazing animals, changes in agricultural practices have resulted in less CLA in our foods, decreasing its availability in modern diets. Therefore, using a CLA supplement is recommended to obtain desirable levels of CLA for its optimal effects. NOW® CLA is derived from Non-GMO safflower oil and delivers 800 mg CLA per softgel. After reading reviews, pros and cons, and doing my own research I tried NOW CLA. I found, in my research a common thread that those who didn't exercise or were generally not very active had the most negative reviews. Since this product is meant to increase the body's ability to metabolize and burn fat (it actually shrinks the fat cells keeping fat from expanding them) it seemed logical that the more active person is the better result they would see. I was already working out daily; 30-45 min. of circuit training: cardio with 5 lb. weights. I noticed a definite impact within the first 3-5 days of using the CLA at the suggested dosage of three times per day with meals. I then added, to my regular workout routine, a higher intensity cardio circuit training and was shocked at the rate the inches were coming off and even more, the definition in how my body was shaping; I was overweight for the past 2 years gained 4 sizes over the course of that time and now, in 2 1/2 months of regular cardio type exercise and using the CLA I am back in my size 32 waist and my clothes fit better than before, I'm proportioned better now). Was I having results prior to using CLA? Yes. Was the CLA benefit enhanced by the increase in cardio? Yes. Bottom line: my experience with CLA is that it does work very well with proper diet and exercise; it's not a quick fix but it does work as an enhancement and tool for fat redistribution and muscle toning bringing better definition. I don't count calories; I simply eat a proper balance of carbs, protein and fat (reduced fat foods as often as possible); I also make a protein shake after working out. Cutting out processed flours, excess fat and never ever using fake sweeteners is key for balancing hormones. I would definitely recommend CLA, and for the money you can find a better value and price, but not a better purity or name brand. NOW is in it to win it. I admit I was very skeptical about this product. I am losing weight with diet and exercise but just could not seem to get rid of the belly fat. I tried taking it as directed on an empty stomach an hour before meals and it caused extreme gastro upset. I started taking it along with my meals and it made a huge difference -- no stomach upset. I can honestly say that I started to see a difference in my torso area after taking one pill with each meal after the first two weeks. I will finish the one bottle and expect to be done with the product. The pills are very large but they are gel caps and I had no difficulty swallowing along with a full glass of water. The one downside for me is that it does cause flatulence and mildly loose stools. I can deal with the downsides for the time it takes to take one bottle and then be finished. ... show more

This was my first bottle of CLA ever. I took one pill, once a day and noticed a difference in the way my body handles carbohydrates. What stinks is that I wasn't consistent in taking the pills BUT yet I noticed a difference. The main change I've seen is my weight doesn't fluctuate like it did before. With the CLA, I am encouraged to eat better. My husband started taking it too. We finished the bottle and have ordered another (more potent). I'm confident I would have seen better results (on the scale) if I'd taken 2 pills a day consistently (I'm horrid in remembering to take pills). My fingers are crossed w/this next bottle. I didn't give it 5 stars because I didn't take 2 pills a day, 2x's a day as directed. And yes, I would buy this again. ... show more
