    • Pleasant surprise
I was pleasantly surprised by the weight and quality of this product. Having had an outboard motor stolen from a boat at my dock in the past this product will keep that from happening again.

    • Lock mechanism is not stainless.
Housing seems to be good quality stainless, but the lock is complete junk. Gets so corroded you have to clean, scrub and grease just to get it to work every time.

Has to be in certain position to remove key, which makes it loose and it rattles like crazy!

    • Not bad for first impression.
Initially, It appears to be well made. Time and corrosion resistance will have to tell. I like that the key slot is on the bottom and hidden so that water shouldn't get in there and seize up the lock. Also appreciate the foam padding inside. Locks solid and doesn't appear to rattle or make noise which is a significant step up from the previous lock I had. So far very happy with it. Adding to this year's later. After being in a saltwater environment for about 6 months, the cylinder on the lock was completely corroded and inoperable. The main body of the lock has withheld enough that I feel bad prying it apart to get my motor free from my boat. As far as corrosion resistance the lock doesn't hold up. I'd recommend some regular maintenance. ... show more

    • I have three now. Like them yes.
These are way better than the ferrous steel ones by Master lock. Be sure to keep the key hole facing down and well lubricated, in fact, squirt some graphite into the key slot and then after screwing it tight, pack the key hole with marine grease....at least if you are using it in salt water in a daily basis. The case is stainless steel but the lick mechanism is not especially corrosion resistant so it will need maintenance or may jamb up. There's a learning curve for assembly but not too difficult after you get a feel for it. Good value and anything you can do to keep your outboard is worth it. I recommend using this in conjunction with a Kryptonite cable or similar. ... show more

    • Well made. Fits Suzuki with modifications.
The handles on the Suzuki DF15AE are much thicker than those on most outboards. I couldn't find any transom lock that would fit, except for this one. You will have to remove the foam padding inside to make it work, but that's easily done, and when tightened down, it doesn't rattle even without the foam. ... show more
