Description

THE INSTANT 1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! “I like to think of Not All Diamonds and Rosé as the ultimate reunion. I know readers will be surprised, entertained, and even shocked at what’s in store." ―Andy Cohen Dave Quinn's Not All Diamonds and Rosé is the definitive oral history of the hit television franchise, from its unlikely start in the gated communities of Orange County to the pop culture behemoth it has become―spanning nine cities, hundreds of cast members, and millions of fans. What is it really like to be a housewife? We all want to know, but only the women we love to watch and the people who make the show have the whole story. Well, listen in close, because they’re about to tell all. Nearly all the wives, producers, and network executives, as well as Andy Cohen himself, are on the record, unfiltered and unvarnished about what it really takes to have a tagline. This is your VIP pass to the lives behind the glam squads, testimonials, and tabloid feuds. Life’s not all diamonds and rosé, but the truth is so much better, isn’t it? “This exhaustive oral history features dishy interviews with 185 cast and crew members behind the Bravo phenomenon. Fans will delight to read about how it all got started.” ―New York Post Includes Color Photographs Read more

  • must read for true heads!!
This book is everything!!! It gave me a whole new appreciation and love for housewives and encouraged me to watch franchises that I thought I would never be interested in (looking at you New York! And I’m obsessed!!!) genius writing and storytelling and dare I say even better than watching a really juicy messy funny HW episode? Highly recommend! ... show more

  • “Wow Bethenny, Wow”
To the person who’s reading this review: I bet you watch a ton of Housewives. Maybe you started with RHONY or RHOA, inevitably you were sucked in. Then you decide to binge watch every city of (or most of) The Housewives. I’m going to assume you did, like me. You probably had a few questions about things here and there you googled to find more information about. With certain Housewives or incidents, only to be disappointed to come up empty. Maybe you’re even more like me, who has to wrangle children and don’t know all the behind the scenes or blog information. Much less where to find it. Maybe you just love Housewives! either way: THIS IS FOR YOU. THIS IS LINEAR, YOU CAN SKIP TO THE CHAPTER OF THE HOUSEWIVES FRANCHISE YOU LOVE. YOU FIND OUT SO MUCH. THIS IS THE BRAVO HOUSEWIVES BIBLE YOU DIDNT KNOW YOU NEEDED AND MAKES YOU WANT TO REWATCH EVERY SINGLE CRAZY MOMENT IMMEDIATELY. Purchase now! ... show more

  • I couldn’t put it down! Finished it in one day
This is the best gift to give an OG housewives fan. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down! While reading it, I was smiling, laughing and cringing as if I was watching a highly anticipated explosive reunion episode. Definitely recommend to anyone who is a fan of the franchise and wants to know how our beloved characters felt about some of the most iconic moments in HW history or how the casting came together. The only critique I’d give is that the Atlanta chapter didn’t seem as well-rounded as it could be. Something about not having the perspectives from Nene, Porsha or Kim made it sound a bit one-sided and flat in a way that the other chapters did not. Hopefully they could be layered in during a second edition . Other than that, I really enjoyed the book and would pay to read the full transcripts from all the HW interviews! ... show more

  • Very good read
Enjoyed reading the behind the scene commentary of the ladies and production. I’m a bravo fan with all the housewives.

  • What?
I would have to stop often in the middle of sections or at the end of chapters and think "what am I reading?" Do we really need an oral history of a fairly recent reality franchise? I guess so. I mean I finished the book, but it took me forever because of brain fry. The language wasn't particularly hard, but it would jump around a lot in conversation, and I would have to reorient myself with a new cast every chapter, also I clearly wasn't in on most of the drama when I watched some of these shows. Things the women re-counted as big issues, I did not think were... 3 out of 5 just because it was vapid...yes a lot of effort was put in interviewing these women who had already been interviewed like a million times about the same subjects... ... show more

  • I loved the inside information!
This was a great behind the scenes look at some of our favorite shows. It would be great if there was a sequel that talked about other Bravo reality shows like Summer House, Southern Charm and Below Deck. I enjoyed learning about personalities of cast members and their thoughts on situations that happened on their shows. ... show more

  • Excellent Entertainment
It's a shame all books must end. This was a good one and I'm so glad I read it. The years have really gone by and many changes have shaped and reshaped the housewives and their life stories. The reality remains interesting and definitely entertaining. I learned many, many things, big and small, throughout the chapters (housewife city). Some questions I had were answered and I love that; exactly what I wanted! If you love watching Housewives, you'll likely love this book. ... show more

  • Detailed but seems to lean in on certain locations over others.
While it's obvious a lot of work went into this book it also appears that this "super fan" author put more time and effort into some franchises over others. The episode details in locations like NY) seem to skimped on in BH which has been on as long. I did like the way the construction of the interviews make it feel as if the subjects were in the same room. It's also a shame that it ends in late 2020 right before SLC & BH pivotal legal dramas occur (fodder for another book maybe?) All in all a good read and well written, but I would have liked to have seen a little more balance and little less "fandom". ... show more
