I was unable to get a 1 gallon recipe in my first request for one. The recipe I received was for the 5 gallon. In an auto reply to my first question I was asked not to send more than 1 question a day. As a beginner to brewing this was not helpful in that I had several questions. I also asked what was that item above with no reply yet. I went with Amazon because of the speed of shipping over Northern Brewing. Today is the day after brewing. The smell while cooking the wort was great. I have some yeast activity going on this morning which is fun to see and also reassureing. I would recommend this for a beginner. In the future I'll still use the 1 gallon fermenter since I live in a small house and price for addtional brew kits is good.

Everything was included to make a mighty fine beer. The only negative comment is that the instructions included in the kit are a little vague. I found a video from Northern Brewer that was perfect.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he was ecstatic. He finally had time to brew his beer and bottle it....and it just ready to drink on St. Patrick's Day. He popped open his bottle and couldn't believe how great the beer tasted. He is already looking forward to trying other flavors. I highly recommend this kit. Just don't forget to buy some bottles also!

Very cool starter kit! If your interested in learning how to brew your own beer, this is a great place to start. The phone support is excellent. I text my question and they usually respond within 24 hrs. I messed up my first batch due to some rookie mistakes but it's a learning process. I've ordered more recipe kits and am enjoying learning about brewing beer!

The lid for the fermenter doesn't create an airtight seal so this is pretty much useless. Also the hole for the stopper is flimsy and the stopper pushes right through the hole. Contacted northern brewer and they refused to help. Thankfully Amazon is correcting the situation.
