UPDATE x2 My partner fixed the loose axe head by adding two metal shims going in the opposite direction of the original wooden one and sharpened the head. Now I absolutely love this axe. It's fits me perfectly. UPDATE! Finally got a wooden target to try out my axe. After about the 4th throw, the axe head became loose and wobbly. I'm afraid that if I continue to use, the handle will break like others have complained about. It's a bummer it will be for display only The overall look and feel is great. However, I've not been able to try it out yet. My partner will not allow me to throw it at one of our trees.

My initial thought was a little disappointed because it didn't look as good as the picture and this was gotten as a gift. That being said once I actually looked at it, as it was giving right out of delivery box I was extremely disappointed and disgusted. It is molded and not a little. Not in a look closely kind of way. It's severe, and I included pictures because I need it known I'm not just making a mountain out of a mole hill. Also as I was inspecting I noticed the top of the handle which is also molded is also cracked so if this were to be thrown it wouldn't last. The design and color can be over looked, sharpness can be fixed. The health risk of it being completely covered in mold not at all up for debate. And we have immune compromised people in my home so this is extremely irritating.

I wouldn't call this an axe, it's size is more of a hatchet but that's not bad if you want that. Read the measurements and if that is the size you want, great. It seems well mad, a hammer portion on the back side and a good blade. I've used it as a hatchet and so far it appears well made, durable and easy to handle. I've been using it to cut brush and trim/split small stuff and it works fine for that. I haven't tried throwing it yet but that will come in time.

At first, please understand that my writing may be awkward because I am using a translator. If you bought this axe for display at home because you wanted to give it a Viking feel, it would be perfect But I never recommend it if you're buying it to actually throw it in As many other reviews say, the wood at the head of the axe is poorly durable. I'm sure it will break down within 20 throws at the most. But at least it looks really nice! This axe is cool enough without having to throw it. I hope you make the right choice for your own purpose.
