  • 8 bucks we'll spent
For 8 bucks, are you kidding me? It's good. Really good. Sturdy, heavy and solid. Sharp for what you paid. Blade can easily be sharpened if not sharp enough. Definitely worth 8 bucks for sure!

  • Great hand axe!
Awesome axe! First hand axe I have honestly owned and it came with a way to remove nails, pretty cool! Not super duper sharp when you first get it but it has some weight to it so it chops just great. I used this to remove some large left over stumps that were growing near some concrete. Could not get a chain saw near the concrete so I used this to chop most of it down and then dig down and remove them. They were small and up against concrete so they could not be pulled out with a chain either. ... show more

  • Decent And Sturdy Axe
Sturdy dense steel, decent rubber handle although mine came with a slight bend but very easily missed so not too bad. Not edge but to be expected sharpen it yourself if you know or a hardware store if not. All In all solid hatchet/axe for any camp out 👍

  • Somewhat heavy and works good to split the wood
Seems to be very sturdy and while it works well to split small wood

  • Dirt cheap is good, everything else is bad
I have owned plenty of axes so I believe I know them well enough to give you a useful review on this Coleman Camp Axe. The curve on the end of the handle is not really helpful. Part of me thinks they are so cheap because the company is basically trying to liquid their inventory - mainly because of these types of shortcomings. The weight is respectable for its small size. This is a hatchet at best. This "hatchet" ships with a very wide blade angle. So it doesn't do near as well as it could mainly because it ships kind of... dull... After grinding the blade down to a better angle it did much better at chopping and biting into wood. You don't want it as sharp as a knife, obviously, that would cause it to chip or get stuck in the tree you are chopping up, but you do want it to penetrate on each whack! That said, stock sharp it can work through less dense wood, but don't expect it to chop through a dry avocado branch. The back of the blade head has a curve to it. Why? It is another shortcoming for this hatchet. Had it been flat you could use it as a hammer and other uses that require a flat back to the axe head. It does have a hanging notch so you can put it on a nail on the wall. It does NOT have a sheath. But at stock sharpness you don't need one. Overall I have mixed feelings about this hatchet. I have used many that had a stock sharpness that was much better and didn't have the above mentioned shortcomings so I give this a three. If we were just talking about price and if I hadn't used something much better I would consider this a four and a half stars perhaps. But knowing better I cannot suggest this unless you know you will be hacking at soft wood and/or need something dirt cheap. ... show more

  • Great Axe for Use as a Splitting Maul
I have used the same Coleman steel head axe for at least 20 years, severely abusing it using a 3lb hand sledge to reliably split 15" cordwood into smaller kindling pieces for camp fires. This thing served me splitting wood for maybe 40 campfires a year for 20 years. Last week it finally gave up the ghost, and I was thrilled to find Coleman offers the same axe for $10. Looking forward to another 20 years with my new Coleman axe! ... show more

  • Still a trusted great quality axe for camp
These are the real deal. I had one for approximately 20 years and wanted to buy another one for my son. The new model was exactly like my old one and was what I wanted. If you don't know this axe than you should. Super tough and an absolute must for camping.
