Description

You won’t know where the blade ends and your hand begins. This tactically- inspired everyday carry urban tactical knife proves that form follows function with swept finger grooves, a formidable blade, and the Assisted Opening innovation. Whatever the need, you’re good to go through anything with this bad boy of a blade. Ken Onion of Kaneohe, HI designed the Foresight. This one is just another example of Ken’s tight mechanics and comfortable form in a blade that’s ready for your urban law enforcement and professional tactical needs. The 3.5-inch modified drop-point blade has a generous belly and re- curve cutting edge. It absolutely rips through anything that comes its way. Yet it opens like a well-oiled cutting machine thanks to the Assisted Opening innovation coupled with the IKBS ball bearing pivot system. What truly sets this blade apart though is how it feels when you hold it. The glass-reinforced nylon handle of the Foresight is purposefully styled and shaped with swept finger grooves and proper palm swell to provide a confident, comfortable grip no matter what the use. You’d swear the designer made a mold out of your own bare hand. Hindsight may be 20/20, but with the Foresight you’ll show you can plan ahead when it comes to the right tools. How Assisted Opening Works It's held securely closed in your pocket, but initiate the deployment, and part way through the rotation the blade swings open at impressive speed for simple, powerful, one-handed opening. • THE FORESIGHT IS A GREAT EDC FOLDING KNIFE
THE FORESIGHT IS A GREAT EDC FOLDING KNIFE. I've been a knife collector for a long time and have seen a lot of good blades. I wish I bought this sooner. IMO, I've experienced no CONS with this CRKT model. Slick surface provides no grip, but the knife's ergonomic design makes up for that. The IKBS makes the "need" for a thumb stud obsolete and the liner lock release is just right. I've always felt most clips on folders were unnecessarily too long, so for me this feature is a welcome change. This model requires some time getting adjusted to. If you position your finger in just the right manner, the flipper functions like a well oiled tool. It can be just as quick releasing as a spring assisted design. Likewise, if you position your finger in just the right way on the liner lock release - again, no problems there as well. Play with this pup a bit - it's different and as such needs you to be patient with it. Innovative new designs always have unnoticeable nuances and because of that, have a bit of a learning curve that you need to get past before it works properly for you. Gravity and inertia have a lot to do with how well this knife performs for you. If you're looking for a solid, sturdy and dependable multipurpose folding knife that comes with a very well balanced AUS8 blade. . . Look no further! For it's price point, you won't find a better knife - much higher value for the money. This one's about as perfect as it'll get - until Ken Onion comes up with another mind blowing innovation in the knife industry. In the past, I've only bought one of any production knife, but I learned a hard lesson. My last favorite production folder eventually ended getting lost after it was discontinued - that's not happening with my Foresight. With enough foresight on this pup this time, I'm getting another one or two soon if in case I end up losing my first one, LOL. PS: I saw a review that said because the Foresight was manufactured in Taiwan, the buyer was going to return it to Amazon. What a bad decision! This knife was very well designed and the manufacturing is very well executed. Asia is getting much better in their production practices. If you only want to buy American, fine. If you don't want things made in Asia just because it's made in Asia, fine - but I have news for you. IMO, about 80% of the products we use daily are made in Asia and in my experience some US made stuff have a lot to be desired nowadays. Now, realistically, if you really want quality US products, be prepared to pay a premium price. A custom piece like this would probably run you about $700 - $1000. I know, because I have a couple of custom knife maker friends and Ken Onion is one that I've been good friends with for about 25 years now. I'm just saying. . . try it before you knock it. I highly recommend this folder. ... show more

  • Beefy
I was kind of shocked when I opened the package. This knife has that "WOW" factor. It's big and beefy, and it just oozes that solid heavy duty feel. The spine on it may be a hair thicker than my 7" Ka-bar fixed blade, and the handle plates have gotta be 1/4" thick each. It makes you feel like you could use it to pry open a deadbolted door. It's smooth too. First time I used the flipper confused me. It popped open so fast and smooth I was convinced I bought an assisted open knife. As an added bonus, the clip has just the right amount of tension. Some knife clips grab my jeans too tight and make for an awkward draw. This comes in and out of my pocket smoothly. Also, extremely sharp out of the box. All in all, it's an excellent knife for the money. Only con is it's got that scare factor. Like, I'm not sure I would want to take this out and pick my nails at the grocery store. Might cause a scene. ... show more

  • Once you hold it, you'll want it.
This folder feels better than almost any other knife you'll hold in your hand. Okay, That's my opinion. Nice ergos. It's seriously sharp and looks wicked cool. Feels perfect. Everyone who sees it wants to handle it. Attractive design, but duh, it's Ken Onion. One caveat, however: the flipper mechanism was stiff as a corpse out of the box. Considered sending it back, but decided I was going to give it a shot and see if I could loosen it up. Finally oiled down the joint and just watched TV at night for two weeks, flipping it over and over and over (like 1000 times according to my wife). Wore a blister on my finger, but now it's smooth and works great. Even though I had a stiff one, it was worth the time to break it in. I love the knife. Now if you're not a patient person, you probably should avoid folding knives anyway and stick with fixed blades. It's my EDC every other day. Take my Ken Onion Blur every single day. You know how knife people are with a Kershaw Blur. ... show more

  • Quick spring and sharp!
Color: Foresight Assisted
Excellent knife. I have owned a CRKT before and this one as well does not disappoint. Extremely sharp out of the box. I am especially fond of the onion style shape of the blade. The craftsmanship on the blade and the distressed or aged look is beautiful. Solid knife, yet if there was a complaint at all I could find is the handle. I feel like this may have been an after thought when designing the knife. I would have liked something more solid like aluminum. Not a deal breaker what so ever though, ergonomics are there and its still really sturdy! Would 100% recommend! ... show more

  • Quality folder that won't break the bank.
I've purchased a few budget knives from CRKT recently and was happy with the quality of their products. I decided to go up into their higher priced knives and picked up the Foresight. Overall the Foresight is a good folder that will be added into my EDC rotation of knives. The flipper springs the blade out quickly. There's no gritty feeling, no noises, or anything else that would delay deployment of the blade. I have big hands, so the engraved finger grooves in the grip don't quite line up. My pointer finger fits the best while the other fingers generally fit. Maybe the angle is is bit off for the rest of my fingers to fit correct. The blade was sharp out of the box. There's no jimping on the blade, which is something that I like in a knife. The pocket clip is AMAZING! It really hides the knife in your pants pocket where all you can see is the clip itself. Sadly the clip is only right handed, tip down carry. I prefer tip up carry. There is a nice spot to add a bit of paracord to make a lanyard. I gave the Foresight a 4 star review based on the the lack of jimping on the blade, the finger grooves not quite fitting my hand, and because of the pocket clip being stuck in a tip down carry position. None of these things are deal breakers in my opinion, but buyers should be aware of them. ... show more
