  • Excellent firm mattress at great price.
Style: Kin 8" Foam Size: Queen
Excellent mattress. We bought it to replace our camper mattress. It feels like our Casper mattress at home which we love. Great price.

  • Weirdly comfortable
Style: Kin 8" Foam Size: King
It's admittedly a bit early to review this mattress, having only slept on it for a week now. But I wanted to share my thoughts since I had initially purchased a Modway and returned it to get this mattress. First, I'll say this - Amazon tells you to give this up to 72 hours to fill up, so I actually called customer service to ask whether you really needed to wait that long. The answer is no - the mattress can fill out in as little as 2 hours (mine sure did), and even if it doesn't fill all the way right away, it doesn't hurt it if you sleep on it. So said the folks at Tuft & Needle. Second... This mattress does not immediately feel like the most comfortable thing in the world. The Modway I'd just returned was a memory foam mattress with a cooling gel pad, and when you got into it, it immediately felt super comfy. I could lay on my side and my back and both ways felt phenomenal. But when my wife slept on it, she sank WAY down. And she'd wake up with terrible back pain. So when I set up my new Nod mattress...and tested it out...it felt strangely rubbery. It didn't feel immediately soft OR firm (they say medium, and I suppose that's pretty much what it is). It also doesn't let you sink in - at all. With the memory foam mattress (Modway) I barely felt my wife moving on the other side. With this one, I do kind of feel it - but not as much as you would with an innerspring mattress. Laying on the mattress, again, it doesn't immediately feel like the most comfortable thing in the world, but both my wife and I have slept incredibly well on it. I wake up feeling refreshed, rested...and no pain for either of us! I sleep on both my back and my sides, in case you're a side/back sleeper & you're wondering... It also sleeps MUCH cooler than both my former innerspring mattress and the Modway, which supposedly has some sort of a cooling gel layer. With both of those, I woke up uncomfortably hot at least once or twice during the night. With this mattress, no such issue. So...older women rejoice! No more crazy night sweats on this thing. So...that's pretty much my experience so far. Here's a summary: GOOD STUFF: 1. don't feel your partner's movement as much as on an innerspring mattress, but do feel it a bit more than a memory foam mattress. 2. doesn't get hot - at all. No night sweats ladies! 3. wake up feeling refreshed, no aches & pains 4. can use it pretty much right away, within a couple of hours - no need to wait 72 hours NOT SO GOOD STUFF: 1. doesn't "feel" immediately comfy, especially if you're a side sleeper. Not sure how much that matters since my sleep quality has been amazing so far. 2. you do feel a LITTLE bit of your partner's movement on the bed...then again, my wife has not had to adjust as much on this mattress, so what little movement you would feel is reduced. Overall, I highly recommend this mattress so far. I'll update in a few months if anything changes. ... show more

  • A Pleasant Surprise
Style: Kin 8" Foam Size: California King
I bought this mattress to replace yet another air mattress that I have used for years as a replacement for a waterbed mattress. The air mattresses have been okay, the last one I had was a very expensive three chamber model, but it finally met its end (not a leak). I had seen commercials for the "mattress in a box" offerings, so I was curious if they came in a California King size. Some searching on Amazon lead me to Tuft & Needle. They offered very attractive prices as opposed to others I had seen advertised on television. They also carried a California King in an 8" thickness, that was perfect for my existing frame. So after reading both positive and negative reviews, I took the plunge and ordered. It arrived quickly, and in a box that was smaller than I expected. Unrolling and removal of the plastic protection covers was simple enough for me, but I would suggest two people do it for ease. I did it myself, so it can be done, but two people would make short work of the job and endure far less of a struggle. I experienced no strong chemical aroma that I had read about in some reviews. After a couple of hours I tested it out. The instructions said it was okay to use after two or three hours. My initial response was that of pleasant surprise. It was very comfortable and filled the bed frame exactly as I had hoped. It also allowed me to use my normal bed rails once again as the new mattress did not stick up above the rails. After I got the bedding on, the whole bed appeared much lower to the ground than it did before. That was really because the old air mattress was a good 12" and it had a 4" memory foam topper on top of it. Making it actually taller. This was not a problem. My first night of sleep on the mattress was blissful. So comfortable, dare I add, "soothing"? At first, I was sort of afraid I would sink, the foam compress, and feel the wood underneath. That did not happen. It also does not sleep hot, which was another worry. Yes, like all mattresses, you leave a warm spot, but the mattress dissipates the body heat and allows me a wonderfully comfortable night of rest. All subsequent sleeps have been just as comfortable and pleasurable. I honestly could not be happier with the experience I have had with my Tuft & Needle mattress. The cost was a lot less than I expected to pay for a mattress in a box. I had hesitation that I would get cheaper quality, but that fear was proved wrong. I have received nothing but great sleep and the feeling of a well made purchase. I can only imagine that the thicker versions would be just as, if not more comfortable, but I am completely satisfied with the one I purchased. In my reading, I believe that the "model" I chose is an exclusive to Amazon. They do offer a satisfaction guarantee, but since my satisfaction was met and exceeded, I will not be using it. If you are considering purchasing this mattress, do so with confidence. If for some reason you are not satisfied, use their guarantee. I believe that you will be just as satisfied as I am with this mattress. I would suggest not judging it until it has fully expanded (A couple of days), though I knew I had made the right choice the first night I spent on it. Thank you Tuft & Needle! ... show more

  • Collapsing fast...
Style: Kin 8" Foam Size: Twin XL
It was never firm--even brand-new. It was comfy though for the first couple of months, but now, the cushion feels softer and less supportive, and I worry I'll be out buying another mattress by next year... Update: after many months with the mattress, while again it was never firm, it is holding up fine and I have come to enjoy the comfortable sleep it provides. ... show more

  • Solid choice that didn't break the bank
Style: Kin 10" Foam Size: Queen
I bought the Tuft & Needle Kin 10” memory foam mattress after a cross-state move when I needed something affordable and comfortable. My partner prefers a firmer memory foam mattress, while I’m used to a softer, plush pillow-top, so finding something that worked for both of us was important. At first, I was worried it might be too firm for me, but after about two months it softened and now feels just right for both of us. It provides enough support for him while still feeling comfortable for me. We found Tuft & Needle after staying in a friend’s guest room that had their original hybrid mattress. The Kin isn’t quite the same feel, but it’s a good alternative at a lower price point. I also appreciate that the materials used are clean and natural. Overall, it’s been a solid mattress that didn’t break the bank and has worked well for our first apartment together. ... show more

  • A Pretty Good Mattress for the Right People.
Style: Kin 12" Foam Size: Twin XL
I have had this T&N Kin 12" mattress for nearly a month and while it is a pretty good value it is not a world beating mattress. I am 5'-11" and around 200 lbs, partially paraplegic and am in bed for pretty lengthy periods of time, I can only sleep on my back, the mattress is on a Tami power lift base (10 Stars all the way!). While I am generally satisfied with this mattress it is, IMO, not a medium-firm as listed, though it may be for smaller/lighter persons. The T&N Kin seems reasonably well made, sleeps temperature neutral/reasonably cool. I am also in the process of comparing this to a Tempur-Pedic Adapt Hybrid and I don't think that there is really much of a comparison. The Kin is fairly soft standard foam mattress but it has a far different feel and doesn't have the same level of support as the Adapt Hybrid. The Kin is a nice mattress for the money, I will likely keep it for a grandchild or just to have as a spare. ... show more

  • 1.5 year later review. 1.5 year later review.
Style: Kin 8" Foam Size: King
I have had this 8” mod mattress for a year and a half now. I absolutely love it! I have never had another mattress I’ve liked better. I used to buy $1000+ mattresses from mattress firm and other stores. This was my first time ordering a “bed in a box.” I ordered a couple different ones off amazon and liked this one the best. Amazon was great with retuning the others that didn’t work. I got the king size nod and it is true to size and height. When you first get it, it takes a while to expand to it’s full size. After a year and a half it is as good as new and still feels and looks the same. There’s NO weird indentions or what my husband and I jokingly call “ditches” lol. In other words the original form is in no way compromised after using it every night for a year and a half. Both my husband and I love it. It’s a medium firmness in my opinion. My husband likes a soft bed and I like a firm bed, this was a happy medium. When you lay down it has a little give, but not too much. I have horrible back problems and I sleep so much better on this mattress than I have on any $1000+ serta or what have you. Once upon a time I had a tempurpedic, it was way too hot! This Nod mattress is NOT hot in my experience. Even when I was pregnant and had hormonal sweating this did not make me hot. I’m a very hot natured person too so it’s very important to me that my mattress doesn’t add to that problem! With other memory foam mattresses I’ve had, I had to even change clothes during the night, not fun!! I definitely think the comfort and quality of this mattress is comparable to other high quality expensive memory foam mattresses, if not better! Like I mentioned I had to give away the tempurpedic (spelling?) due to it being way too hot! I would highly recommend this mattress to anyone really. I think it accommodates a lot of people due to its adaptive nature and medium feel. I think a medium firmness suits many different people and situations. It’s definitely not in any way a hard bed so if you are used to a soft bed, don’t let the word medium firmness scare you! I can sleep on a more firm bed (due to my back issues) but this works fine for me even though it’s a little softer! I am a stomach sleeper and my husband is a side and back sleeper. It works well for both of us. He is 220lbs and I am 130lbs and we both love it. It’s not easy to find a good bed for a stomach sleeper but this one is a winner! I would definitely recommend this to pregnant ladies, or hot sleepers as well! I also think this would work great for a child, toddler or guest bedroom as well. It’s sure to suit any guest who would come to stay over! Our kids love the bed as well. We eventually are going to order nod beds for their rooms. Oh and also if anyone was wondering I 100% purchased this mattress with MY OWN money and no I am not getting paid for this review or any other type or compensation! This is an honest review of someone who spent their hard earned money on this bed! My father is actually buying one for himself for Christmas because he loves our bed so much! He has lupus and is in the market for a bed that will make him very comfortable! Good luck and remember if it doesn’t work out amazon prime is really easy to return it! Just leave the bed outside your door and they come and get it! I hope my review was helpful to someone out there. I know ordering a bed online is hard. Look up some YouTube reviews, they really help! ... show more

  • So relieved!
Style: Kin 8" Foam Size: King
6 month review: I don’t usually update on reviews but honestly I am so happy with this purchase I thought I should share! I have now had the mattress for a full 6 months and love it just as much as I did when I first purchased it. I have also had friends sleep over and point out how comfortable it is. I do rotate the mattress regularly when I change sheets and have not noticed any dipping (this was what I was most afraid of) but I’m also single and can sleep where ever I want in the king mattress. Would definitely buy again! I have owned Serta pillow top beds my entire life (3 total) and was so scared to try out something completely different not to mention something I can’t lay on before I purchase. But I’m SOOO happy I did it finally!!! First let’s start with the unboxing. It was super easy! I’m a single lady and bought a king and was able to move it in by myself and unbox it. First thing I did notice thought was the SMELL OMG. It was seriously OVERWHELMING! My entire house smelt SO bad!!! I wanted to rough it out and just sleep in the bed the first night I had it and that was honestly a mistake. I wake up super early for work and shower at night and I could smell the mattress on myself at work the next day and it was seriously nauseating. I can’t even explain the smell. So if you do purchase the mattress I don’t suggest throwing sheets on and sleeping in it the first night. Give it time to breath maybe even open a window or something 😂 I was honestly having strong regrets about buying the mattress in fear that the smell was so strong it’d never go away. BUT GOOD NEWS IT HAS!! Now to the actual review! I LOVE THIS MATTRESS!! I’m soooo happy I went with the nod! I didn’t even realize I needed and wanted something more firm than my pillow top that I tossed and turned on all night. But it’s not too firm. It’s just perfect! I had wanted the original tuft and needle for awhile until I spent a week sleeping on one at my fams cabin and thought it was WAY too firm so I’m happy I went with this one. I’m a side sleeper and my hips and lower back were hurting on the reg and it was definitely time for a change. I like that the bed doesn’t swallow me and is easy to get out of. (I had a memory foam topped on my pillow top the last year and it was horrible in that way) Not to mention the price is so good! Very happy :) ... show more
