These knocks turn on when knocked to the string serving. All 6 that I purchased performed this way which leads me to believe these are fake or a very poor quality controlled batch from Faradyne Outdoors. I personally have bought over 30 of these nocks from local archery stores in my many years of hunting and everyone has functioned correctly. The knock lights up when shot from the bow, not when nocked. I shoot a lot of deer here in Wisconsin and the blood eventually effects the knock functionality so I go through a lot of these. I could only get the new universal fit style locally so I came here to purchase the same ones I have been using for years, big mistake buying these from Amazon. ... show more

Very bright and very long-lasting battery. Very bright even in full light. Red seems to be the best color for visibility. Reliable deployment. The shut-off switch is accessed by a small port on one side of the nock base. It would make sense to put a port on each side. You do need a pointed object to turn the nock off -- in a hunting situation I usually use the tip of a Muzzy broad head, but there are certainly safer alternatives. Of all the lighted nocks I have used, the Nockturnal is clearly the best. Don't expect shooting a lighted nock to help you determine where the arrow enters the deer. On a pass-through, you just see a continuous stream of light ending on the ground, while the deer bounds away, and at least my eyes and brain can't tell where the arrow hits. If the arrow does not pass through, you see the nock going through the woods but you still don't know exactly where the shaft enters the deer. Lighted nocks have a very high "cool" factor and they are almost worth it just for that. What they DO incredibly well is help you find your arrow after the shot. This can save a lot of time and give you valuable and immediate information about the hit -- or miss. Lighted nocks weigh more than conventional nocks, so there is a chance that your impact point or flight characteristics may change, especially if you shoot a very high speed or otherwise finicky setup. Check that out before taking lighted nocks to the woods. ... show more

I really like these. It really helps me know when my form is good and when I make mistakes. I'm 48 and my eyes are not as good as they used to be. I like knowing instantly how good or not good my shot was. These are very bright and work well on sunny days too. They are pretty easy to turn off. They turn on as soon as you nock your arrow. I would recommend these to beginners but I think they are great for everyone. ... show more

These lighted nocks do exactly what they say. They fit a bit loose, so I covered them in bow string wax to keep them tight. All 3 worked and continue to work after several uses. I would recommend covering the on/off switch hole with bow string wax. This keeps blood from getting into the unit. You can still turn them on/off and then reapply the wax. I was able to see my arrow flight at dusk, go directly to my shot arrow, and even find an arrow in tall grasses once night set in. For the price and easy of use, I recommend! ... show more
