Description
The electrical wire romex 14/2 250 ft is a copper wire that create individual circuits for residential electrical devices, such as GFCI outlets, lights, and wall outlets. They are also known as non-metallic building wires or NM wires. They have a flexible plastic jacket with two to four wires and a bare wire for grounding. The cable can be used for both exposed and concealed work in normally dry locations at temperatures not exceeding 90°C (with ampacity limited to that of 60°C conductors). Voltage rating for NM-B cable is 600 volts. NM-B cable may be run in air voids of masonry block or tile walls where such walls are not wet or damp locations. To make connections to devices, the cable jacket is torn on one side with a metal device called a cable ripper. At the end of the tear, the remaining adhered coating is cut away with a utility knife, scissors, or the cutting end of a wire stripper. The individual wires (conductors) within the jacket are insulated with color-coded PVC (polyvinyl chloride). Individual conductors typically have black, white, and red insulation. Also present within the NM cable is a copper ground wire which is usually left bare and uncoated.
