I bought the japan import to teach myself Japanese through Animal Crossing. (Doubutsu no Mori) For my big adult hands the LL feels way more comfortable and the big screen is great for trying to read the small characters. I have an english regular 3ds for english Animal Crossing and over time my hands do start to hurt. Things like longer battery life is just a bonus to this already great system. I bought black because there are some great covers to make it more cosmetically appealing. They don't protect it much but any color will always match black. And it's a lot cheaper and easier than trying to get your hands on a limited edition ds. If you don't already know THE GAME HAS TO MATCH THE DS' REGION. You can ONLY play JAPAN games on a JAPAN 3DS. This goes with the english ds as well. ALSO import 3DS LL/XL do not normally come with chargers. YOU HAVE TO BUY A CHARGER SEPARATELY.

My son hinted at wanting one of these, because he prefers the original Japanese games to the ported Americanized versions. We ordered this for his birthday, and (understandably) the shipping time from Japan meant that it would probably arrive a week or so after the event. BUT! These guys somehow hurried this, and it arrived two days BEFORE my son's birthday... about two weeks before the earliest estimated arrival date. It was in PERFECT condition, and my son was thrilled. FYI: the Japanese versions do NOT come with a power cord; I guess they assume everyone already owns multiple Nintendo devices and already have dozens of cords lying around anyway.

I got this as a gift for someone that is studying Japanese. Got a chance to ask about the system the other day. They said it is a great game system. This is in fact the JAPANESE VERSION as stated. Ability to play Japanese games. Great for people studying Japanese and enjoys playing games. I guess, study while playing is the best way to learn. The only down side I thought was you can't play any of the U.S games.

First off its a 3ds so that much shouldtell you how it is. And yes it only plays Japanese region 3ds games, as for the 3ds itself. It came in sooner than I expected considering it was being shipped from japan. While amazon expects 18-32 days, it really took a little under 2 weeks from the day I received the shipped notification. I would have wrote soon but I was too busy having fun with a few games I bought.
