This has turned out a terrific buy. My old cuisinart food processor and blender both punked out at the same time. I was thinking I had to make a choice and sacrifice some functions. However, the 55351 has solved all the food processing issues I have used it for. I love the attachment that is specifically to process smoothies. I have one for breadfast most days and they are always smooth and well blended. Most of mine have some form of nut, kale, etc. and it is always processed expediciously and pronto. A little noisy, but I live in a single family home. It blends soups well, chops nuts without a problem, etc. I haven't used it for dough, but I expect that won't be a problem. Also the attachments are easy to clean and don't usually get food stuck under the blades, which are sharp enough to cut up nuts and harder items with ease. The products I put in are almost always incorporated into the smoothie or whatever (cauliflower, fruit, etc.) and yields the product that the word "smoothie" employs. I was looking at some much higher end professional products and saw many complaints in the reviews so decided to check the less expensive Ninja and am more than delighted. It works better than I expected and better than the Cuisinart food processor that just died. I was going to replace both a food processor and blender for both, which had punked out at the same time. The 1400-peak-watt power-dense motor is extremely powerful and can handle any task I throw at it, from crushing ice to mixing dough. The 6 preset Auto-iQ programs make it easy to create smoothies, extractions, bowls, spreads, chopping, and dough with the push of a button. The variable speed control allows me to customize the speed for precision chopping and mixing. The 72-oz. pitcher is perfect for making large batches of smoothies or dough, and the Nutrient Extraction Cup allows me to extract vitamins and nutrients from fruits and vegetables for smoothies and frozen drinks. This is an affordable (relatively) and feature packed set, with something for almost any application. I primarily use it for smoothies and banana “ice cream” and it does a much better job than my previous blender (a black and decker). I like that it has programmed cycles for different types of foods, making it easy to blend while doing other tasks. The main concern is that the plastic seems to scar easily and despite what I thought was adequate care, my pitcher and smoothie cup both have scoring on the outside...honestly do not know how it happened as I keep the blades separate from everything else when drying or storing. This is my second ninja blender and it is definitely worth the money. Note: it is loud, but I don’t think that it is substantially louder than what you would expect from a blender. Maybe consider wearing hearing protection if you’re concerned about that sort of thing. As for cleaning, I always spray the blades and the pitcher/cups thoroughly immediately after use to avoid difficult residue from building. In the past, I had food seep into the handle of other plastic pitchers, so far I haven’t noticed anything of that sort, but the potential is definitely there, so as a precaution, I recommend cleaning immediately.

I was a little scared to give this a try after seeing reviews of people getting stitches and injuries. I decided to give it a try anyway since I have come to learn that most negative reviews are due to user error rather than the product itself. After a week of use, my assumption was correct. There is a literal warning on the top of the lid that warns you not to take the lid off the blender while the blender is turned on and not to remove the kid until the blades have called me to a complete stop. The lid clearly holds the blades in place so removing the lid will cause the blades to jostle and potentially break through the plastic pitcher and could cause serious injury. If you need to top off or add anything to your recipe for blending, make sure the blades come to a COMPLETE stop and then you can take the lid off and add what you need. Even without the warning, you can clearly see the lid holds the blades in place and common sense would tell you not to remove the lid while blending. This is a powerful blender. So powerful it sounds like a jet is taking off in your kitchen. I have used it every day for smoothies salad dressings and sauces. I have not yet tried making cookie dough or anything thicker but so far I am very satisfied with what I have made so far. If you put the ice in last it will blend a lot more evenly. All-in-all this is a great blender for the price and has played a vital role in creating healthy meal plans to reach our health goals. Read all instructions and warnings and you have yourself a great blender.

Another fantastic Ninja product! I got this model specifically because of the smoothie cup. While it does help tremendously to get everything well blended without some random fruit chunk left unblended in the bottom, it's hard to clean. The arms for the apparatus that twists don't come off. I usually clean my blender by putting a squirt of soap and hot water in it and blending. In the past, this has always been the easiest way to get the little nooks in a blender. But It doesn't work with this one. I've learned a bottle scrubber with a sponge top specifically is the best way, but it's still time consuming, especially when dishes are my least favorite chore.

This blender starting coming apart on me soon after i bought it. The screws that hold the main compartment that houses the motor together started breaking within the first few months. I carefully kept it together as long as I could and tried not to move it if I didn't have to. metal pieces would randomly fall off and out of the motor compartment. It finally completely exploded on me with parts flying and smoke coming out this week. It did have it for almost four years, but only through very careful and cautious use. For almost $200, I definitely expected better. *sigh
