Is this better than a Yeti? I don't know. I've never had a Yeti cooler. But I do know that the Ninja Frost Vault is a competitor, offered at a slightly lower price. And now that I have the Frost Vault, I have no desire to ever buy a Yeti. Like the Yeti, this cooler offers superior insulation to standard options. I put it to the test in the summer heat on our pool deck (in the shade, the temperature was still in the 80's). I filled it up with ice and drinks and checked back after 48 hours. I opened it a few times in between. A before and after picture is attached. Most of the ice had melted, but the cooler was still sufficiently cold, with the drinks still being very refreshing after 48 hours. The dry drawer is the true game changer here. It's perfect for food items and anything else you don't want getting soggy. The temperature is surprisingly similar to the main compartment, although a drink sitting directly in ice is still probably preferable. This cooler is not super portable. You'll need two people to move it when it's filled up. I wish it included wheels for easier transport. It's also bigger than standard coolers with the same capacity. The bulkiness is a necessary trade-off though for the extra insulation. Overall, I'm very happy with this. If I was looking to purchase another high-end cooler, I'd be very tempted to buy another Frost Vault. ... show more

This is a great cooler. As many people people have pointed out (many of which did not work with the actual product) this is not a wheeled design. There are wheeled cooler, which are very convenient. This is not like that one. Loaded, this thing is a big heavy. I have no problem using this, since I have a nice folding dolly it fits on nicely, but it's not something that's easy to lug around. With that out of the way, this thing is fantastic. Performance-wise, it keeps as long as almost any Yeti (or other cooler) I've tried yet. In actual tests, I think it comes out middle of the pack, but that's really fine for most people. That means the ice is not melting for days. In terms of convenience, this thing is top notch. That drawer completely changes things. For a beach day or picnic, you can pack completely differently. I don't have to worry about items getting drenched, and trying to plan the top. I can put in sandwiches, salads, etc in that drawer, and they stay cold, drinks in the top along with items that you put in a standard cooler. I think this is outstanding. This is a high end cooler, so expensive. By definition, not a great value for the money, but no high end cooler really is. There's too much diminishing returns. That said, I would buy this if I lost mine somehow. The only reason I'm not doing 5 stars is just because that bulkiness is a legitimate concern, so this is not a product for some consumers. ... show more

Kudos to Ninja for coming out with a new cooler concept. I can't wait to get some use out of this dry compartment considering the last time I went camping I accidentally submerged a new ketchup bottle leaking cooler water into it. The cooler has a decent amount of weight to it, and after filling it you will likely need 2 people to lift or carry it. My build and wingspan will allow me to lift it into a vehicle or move it a short distance, but the job will be considerably easier with a 2nd set of hands. It would be awesome if this had wheels, but sans wheels keeps the price point and overall bulk down while still delivering a quality product. Remember, premium brands tend to have models with and without wheels so I wouldn’t be shocked to see something rolled out in the future. The price point is on point. It’s cheaper than another premium brand I used for cross comparison. Actually, it’s cheaper, has more features, and a few more quarts than that particular model. The dry storage area has a sliding lock to keep it from unintentionally flying open. And it will fly open if you do not utilize this feather. Mine did while unboxing so you might want to be mindful of this. I found the drawer to be easily removed for cleaning and can be put back just as easily as it is removed. Just remember the dry storage area is included in the 50qt volume so you do lose some space in the main compartment. The latch works well. I enjoy the ease of use of only having to open in the middle instead of some cooler models that require latching at two touch points. The lid stays open while lifted making for easy loading/unloading. It’s a huge pet peeve of mine when lids need to be propped open or in the case of some soft shell coolers it’s just strenuous. The color scheme of the gray looks way better in person than it does in the advertised pictures. It’s a matte gray coloring except for lettering which is glossy. The lettering on top in the same color as the chest is almost reflective. In my opinion Ninja did a good job with the aesthetics. I have not tested with ice yet, but given the thickness of the walls I can’t imagine it doing anything but a stellar job keeping the ice in. Overall this is a great product. If you are a gear junky, or in need of a new premium ice chest for use on more than just drinks, I believe you will be happy with this product. ... show more
