Description

Brighten your view with PROSTAFF P3 10x42 binoculars. Full-size 42 mm front objective lenses gather maximum light—17.6 relative brightness—for a brighter, clearer view, even as daylight is fading. 10X magnification brings faraway subjects into close focus, ideal for birding, hiking, boating, sports, stargazing and more, and a wide field of view (367 ft at 1,000 yds) shows you more of the scene for locating wildlife or using the binoculars on the go. The lenses are made from eco-friendly glass and have Nikon’s multilayer coatings, which cut glare and improve contrast for spectacular HD views. The mirror surfaces of the roof prism have a reflective silver-alloy coating that delivers more of the visible light spectrum to your eyes. The binoculars are waterproof down to 3.3 ft (not intended for underwater use) and fogproof. A durable slip-resistant rubber armor provides drop protection and feels great in your hands. Adjustable eye cups with 15.7 mm of extra-long eye relief let you dial in a clear, comfortable view with or without eyeglasses. The evolution of Nikon's award-winning PROSTAFF 3S line of binoculars, PROSTAFF P3 10x42 binoculars deliver performance far beyond their price.

  • These are the binoculars I wish I had when I was in my 20’s …
Style: PROSTAFF P3 8x30
Hi. My family has been using these compact Nikon binoculars to quickly get a closer look at the creatures that enter our backyard from the woods beyond. These are the glasses that are always out on our kitchen counter for “grab ‘em quick” access. We always leave the eyepiece caps/covers in place when the glasses are parked because they are easy to remove quickly (with the flick of a thumbnail to the centerpiece “squiggly” connector). I tell you this because it speaks to the overall quality of these binoculars and their ability to be handled frequent by many hands / multiple people. The rubber armor has a slightly nappy, texturized, surface that helps to make it secure to grasp and slip free. And when, and where, it counts, the armor is very effective at shrugging off frequent “pick them up and put them down” contact on hard (countertop) surfaces. It works well … I find that the ergonomics of these Prostaff are fine for their price point. They fit comfortably “in hand” and are easy to adjust for different users. The (right eye) diopter, while slightly stiff to rotate, is aided by thumbnail friendly raised ridges on the adjustment ring. The eyepieces optics are wide at 22mm (my measurement) and provide a widescreen, relaxing, view. In total, the view they provide is both sharp and crisp and the optics’ color rendition is quite good for these Nikon’s modest cost. The takeaway: As mentioned in my title, these are the glasses that I wish that I had in my early twenties when I spent a good amount of time with friends hiking, and camping, in the White Mountains of northern New Hampshire. These ruggedized, compact, binoculars would have made a home in a “quick access” side pocket on my pack. And, I’m confident, they would have survived their adventures. I feel that these Nikons provide a lot of value for their price and that they would … will … make a excellent gift that will be used for many years. ... show more

  • FANTASTIC!!!
Style: PROSTAFF P3 10x42
These Nikon PROSTAFF P3 10x42 Binoculars are absolutely fantastic! Super-Clear lenses, excellent magnification and great field of view for a lightweight compact pair of binocs! These are perfect for hunting or outdoor hiking activities as they are very light and when you're out in the woods, every ounce counts. I love Nikon products, and these binocs definitely live up to the Nikon name. 10 times better than Bushnell. Lens caps are cheap - but so are all factory lens caps on all binocs. Has a nice sturdy case and a makes a perfect addition for any outdoorsman or adventurer. I'd give these 10-Stars if I could. Highly Recommend! ... show more

  • Outstanding quality and value
Style: PROSTAFF P3 8x30
For very portable and versatile binocular, this was the best option of many. Sports viewing critical with a wide field of view to stay with movement (soccer) and easy adjustability for increased magnification. Great purchase and speedy delivery - much appreciated.

  • Superb optics; not so good on an important detail
Style: PROSTAFF P3 8x30
They are superb, and especially for the price. Extra-long eye relief, and I love that adjustment on the eyepieces, to just rest them on my cheekbones, excellent. And the right-eyepiece adjustment, though notably stiff, works very well. HOWEVER, as it true of almost all binos, the lens caps are a pain. Why can't Nikon, or any other bino manufacturers, put a little more thought into attaching the lens caps to the body of the bino (NOT to the strap), so that they can be quickly flipped off and on? Buy them, you'll love them, except for those annoyingly impractical lens caps. ... show more

  • In some ways better than far more expensive binoculars
Style: PROSTAFF P3 8x42
These are the best birding binoculars I’ve ever used. I go with a tour group at Prospect Park and the leader has a pair that cost over a thousand dollars that he let us try. The image quality on this is mostly comparable once you’re on the bird and the binoculars are fully up to your eyes. The advantage of the very expensive ones over these is that you can kind of see through them to line up on the bird before you fully bring them up. To me that’s a skill you get after two or three hours of birding if you don’t have that crutch anyway. The advantage of these over the expensive ones is the image of a bird in shadows is brighter with these. The tour leader thinks it’s a trade-off to get that ability to see through them at a slight distance, and to me the better view of the colors of the plumage would make these superior even at the same price point, once you put in the time and get the skill. The case that comes with these is nice. It’s compact and it protects the binoculars quite well. The strap is comfortable to wear and I generally don’t like hanging things from my neck. This one has a nice strap. ... show more

  • Beautiful binoculars
Style: PROSTAFF P3 8x42
Beautiful binoculars, a pleasure to use daily. We use them to bird watch, as well as night sky star gazing. A real treat. 8x42 is the sweet spot for general use binoculars. 8x is enough power to see detail but still be able to hand-hold. 42 is a big enough lens to gather plenty of light for day or night viewing. 10x is too hard to hold by hand (realistically the upper limit for hand-held), as the image jumps around too much. 50mm diameter lens is also the upper end of hand-held, as it is heavier and bulkier to hold without a tripod. The P3 line is a perfect balance of good lens coating at a value price. The higher end models have better lens coating technology, but for the extra $$$ you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. The only other option to consider paying more money for is waterproofing. Only get waterproof if you really need it (using on a boat is the obvious situation). But for birdwatching outdoors on a clear day, the P3 is a great model. We literally use them every single day. Our living room looks out on a big field with a lot of nature activity. We keep these binoculars on the window sill, ready at a moments notice to watch the show. Nikon is known for optical quality, and these don't disappoint. Easy to focus, stays in focus, well made, sturdy. Just quality all around. ... show more
