Features

  • Beautiful background blur: the fast f/1.2 aperture is shaped by 11 rounded blades, more than most lenses, for smoother, rounder, more natural blur.
  • Dramatic focus transitions: Enable linear focusing with Z 9, Z 7II, and Z 6II for controlled, accurate manual focus pulling, or let the camera do the work with near-silent Eye-Detect AF.
  • Camera compatibility: Compatible with Full Frame/FX format and APS-C size/DX format Nikon Z series mirrorless (on APS-C size cameras, the lens has a 35mm equivalent field of view of 128mm).
  • Striking background separation: A paper-thin f/1.2 plane of focus, the flattering perspective compression of 85mm and the intense sharpness of this lens create a three-dimensional effect that immediately commands attention.
  • Exacting Control: Activate subject tracking, image playback, AF Lock and more from the L-Fn button; manually adjust aperture, ISO or exposure compensation with the Control Ring

  • Incredible lens with a few tradeoffs.
Spectacular sharpness and wonderous image quality. The focus speed is fairly fast. Very thin focus range at smallest aperture creates exotic imagery. Contains typical Nikon cost cutting, like their unnatural attraction for plastic front filter rings (no excuse to not be metal at this price range). Lens hood fits well and has no rattles. 82mm front filter isn't overly large. Beautiful Bokeh. Excellent sun stars. Little or no internal lens flare. From a physics standpoint - the lens is large and heavy. Am I pleased for the price? I'd say wait till it goes on sale. Overpriced at list for all the plastics. Definitely buy if portraits are your passion. ... show more

  • Best lens in my kit by far! Worth every penny
To say that I like this lens is putting it mildly. Having recently taken to portrait work, this lens is unbeatable. The 1.2 creates such an amazing separation of subject and background that you will notice the difference the first photoshoot and ask yourself why you waited so long (outside of the absurd pricetag that is...) Save you pennies but do not wait too long as these lenses will only be seeing tariff-related increases in prices rather than the "I can wait until the price drops" sale that we all have come to expect. Expect this lens to go up about $500 due to the manufacturing country being punished for trying to earn a living. ... show more

  • So much subject separation
Great for portrait, product photography or showcasing. The f/1.2 aperture creates an amazingly sallow depth of field that can be very easily harnessed to ensure the viewer's attention is drawn straight to the subject. Not gonna go into great details about the tech specs, sharpness, weight and all that as those are very well covered by online celebrities for such a good lens. Just gonna say: this lens is totally worth every penny for those looking to take more artistic pictures and explore their creative photography side. ... show more

  • Wonderful lens, worth the money.
Excellent lens in all respects, only downside is size and weight.

  • Excellent
This lens is excellent, I don't wanna take it off my camera. LOL And, I find myself wanting to use it for everything. It takes some getting used to because of the short depth field but once you learn how to control your depth of field ,speed and lighting for different scenarios it's fantastic. I've been in photography for many many years and most of my lenses are F2.8, F1.4. For me it has really taking more time to learn this lens over my other ones. How ever it's been worth ever minute. I love the Low Light Control, how to get the best for less light. Professional, it is! on my Z8. ... show more

  • Another Nikon winner
It’s hard to imagine a better performing lens. Nikon’s S-line lenses are outstanding, and this lens is no exception. Now that autofocus and eye focus has gotten so good on cameras like Nikon’s Z8, getting consistently great shots with shallow depth-of-field lenses like this f/1.2 lens, is easy peasy. This is my new go-to lens for portraits. ... show more

  • Best lens my go to
This lens is sharp. It’s expensive and I expect it to be perfect. Nikon has been off the mark on some of their lens but this is a great lens.
