Nikon's superior 39-point AF system and Scene Recognition System means details will be clear and crisp—for static or moving subjects. HD video quality rivals more expensive dedicated video cameras. Nikon FX-format quality has never been more attainable.Experience the passion of Nikon full- frame photography. The power of a pro-level Nikon FX-format camera—dazzling full-frame images, broadcast-quality 1080p video at your fingertips, superior low-light performance, faster frame rate up to 6 frames-per-second (fps), tack sharp autofocus with 39 focus points, built-in flash with Commander Mode, wireless photo sharing and much more—is attainable in a compact, lightweight full-frame HD-SLR body. A new continuous quiet mode lets you capture a sequence of shots without the noise associated with the raising and lowering of the D-SLR's mirror. Optimized for full-frame shooting, streamlined for compactness and value, the D610 will fuel your photographic passion like never before. Nikon's Full-frame sensor raises the bar on image qualityStunning detail and NIKKOR lensesPassionate photographers who seek uncompromised full- frame, high-resolution performance rely on Nikon FX-format HD-SLRs. With a level of performance only bested by Nikon's own D800 series D-SLRs, D610's 24.3 megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor, wide dynamic range and high S/N (signal- to-noise) ratio captures every detail with lifelike sharpness and low noise throughout its wide ISO range. Low-light performance is synonymous with Nikon—shoot crystal clear images from ISO 100 to 6400, expandable down to 50 and up to 25,600 for extreme situations. EXPEED 3 processing system manages all that data with remarkable speed and accuracy, enabling up to 6 fps continuous shooting at full resolution in both FX and DX formats. Whether shooting people, landscapes or close-ups—you'll marvel at D610's faithful color reproduction. Add Nikon's newest selection of affordable fast f/1.8 primes, compact wide ratio zooms with VR image stabilization or tele- and supertelephoto lenses and you'll see the full potential that the D610 offers.Remarkable AF performance with compatibility up to f/8f/8 sensitivity benefits action and wildlife photographyOne of the keys to capturing razor- sharp images is a fast, precise autofocus system, and the D610 has one of the best. 39 tightly packed focus points with wide-area AF coverage offer endless compositional possibilities. Nine cross-type sensors in the center offer superior accuracy even when light and contrast are scarce. Seven center focus points work all the way down to f/8 for extended AF functionality with teleconverters and long-reach lenses. Switch between 9, 21 or 39 point AF, allowing for compositional freedom. D610's Scene Recognition System's subject identification and tracking information means enhanced performance by 3D Tracking and Auto Area AF. When shooting photos or HD video in Live View, Nikon’s responsive contrast-detect AF activates for accurate fulltime autofocusing.Exceptional performance and qualityFlawless metering and onboard intelligenceThe D610 delivers consistently beautiful images, thanks to Nikon's intelligent Scene Recognition System with 3D Color Matrix Metering II. Its 2,016 pixel RGB sensor evaluates every scene, taking into account brightness, contrast, subject distance and the scene colors, all within the time it takes to press the shutter release button. That data is then referenced against an onboard image database for consistently accurate exposures, auto white balance, i-TTL flash and subject-tracking autofocus performance. Broadcast- quality Full HD video at your fingertipsTwo video formats in one cameraNikon is committed to developing HD-SLRs that empower and inspire filmmakers and video enthusiasts, and the D610 is proof of that. Shoot 1080p HD videos with selectable frame rates of 30p, 25p or 24p and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression. Bend time with 720p HD at 60p, 50p or 30p for ultra-smooth video playback of fast moving subjects, or create slow-motion footage during post processing. Manually adjust ISO, shutter speed and aperture, activate Live View shooting's fulltime AF with face-priority and subject tracking or manually focus. Experience dedicated inputs for an optional stereo mic and headphones for monitoring sound, still image exporting, uncompressed recording of video via HDMI out to an external recorder, simultaneous live view on external monitors and much more. Multi-area mode Full HD D-Movie gives you compositional freedom using FX or DX movie formats. Enhance your video with the dramatic perspectives and depth-of-field control of Nikon's full line of NIKKOR interchangeable lenses, and you'll dazzle with every video project.Wi-Fi camera control and mobile sharingOptional WU-1b wireless mobile adapterWith Wi-Fi compatibility, sharing photos is easier than ever. Use your smartphone to instantly upload your shots to the web or email them to a friend. Install Nikon's free Wireless Mobile Adapter Utility and remotely control the D610—and shoot from your smartphone or tablet!Lighting studio optionalThe D610's built- in pop-up flash offers up new shooting possibilities that other cameras simply can't match—and not just in low-light situations. Even well lit subjects can benefit from a balanced fill flash for extra depth and dimension. And since the D610's flash integrates with Nikon's i-TTL system, it can act as a Commander and communicate crucial exposure information to two groups of remote flashes across three channels for accurate lighting and exceptional results. • theoretical good features-the worst customer service ever
Style: w/ 24-85mm Set: Base
The camera D610 was bought in amazon.com in February, it was okay but with 1200 shoots, it started to have some spots in the images, always in the same area, and ruining my pics from Greek Islands. People said it is dirtiness in the sensor, the sensor was checked by nikkon seller and it's okay, it is clean. Then I contacted customer service from USA, they asked me for some files, they recommend me to send the camera, in fact they just give me a link with lot of requirements to send the camera, I asked the Spanish nikkon service if they could have a look, as I am living in Spain. and they said no, the camera should be sent to USA. The delivery expenses are not cover by Nikkon, the delivery cost is 200 euros. and maybe the issue could be not cover by the warranty. Meanwhile Nikon just replies with confusing mails. It is unbelievable for me, that a brand as Nikon have this kind of warranties and customer services. Some people told me that they face many problems with Nikon D600, and I didm't believe them it was a mistake to buy this camera, The features are nice, camera is nice but when you have a problem, you are lost! In my case the only solution they offer me is spending 200 euros and then waiting for the camera for probably more than 2 months. Spending $2000 and receiving this customer service....no comments.Nikon D610 24.3 MP CMOS FX-Format Digital SLR Camera with 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR AF-S Nikkor Lens ... show more

  • just amazing images. The sensor in fact is one of ...
Style: w/ 24-85mm Set: Base
[UPDATE Nov 14 2014. 11 months since I have this excellent camera. Main task is taking beach photos under a torrid tropical sun in sandy dusty humid beaches when the sunny beach season gets in (November). I was appalled to notice 3 small kninda black dots in every photograph. I cleaned the lens, I ran the "dust cleaning process" and the "sensor cleaning process". THE DOTS DISAPPEARED! I do not know if they were dust dots, oil dots or whatever. They just disappeared through very easy fast cleaning. I AM SO HAPPY! 11 MONTHS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE BY THIS MAGNIFICIENT NIKON D610!!!] [[[UPDATE. Amazon does not label my review "Verified Purchase" but Amazon tells me "You purchased this item on december xx 2013. May be this review was written to many months after the purchase]]] I received this camera ON TIME in december 2013 and now the camera has had more than 6 months with several days of heavy use in tropical beaches and other tropical parts of my country. No problems at all. No oil or dust in sensor, just amazing images. The sensor in fact is one of the best that exist. DXoMark rated this sensor as 3rd best ever after the Nikon D800 and D800E sensors. But those sensors get a better grade essentially because they have more megapixels [[[Update: This in not exact]]]. This camera has a bigger size pixel than the D800 and D800E (as far as I understand the D810 will be on sale on august and it has a superior sensor). It think its sensor is as good as the D800 and D800E, simple as that. The lens is awesome, some say that it is a professional lens at a very reasonnable price. [[[ UPDATE Aug 25 2014. Someone in the comments section of this review expressed doubts about my honesty in this review. That person even said that I worked for NIKON!!! That is just plain ridiculous, I am just a guy trying to build a photo & video business in my Latin American country. I bought a Nikon D5200 in june 2013. Before buying the D5200 I looked at lots of "test images" in several websites. Those "test images" often were the same image taken by different brands and models of cameras. At that moment I found the Nikon D5200 had the best sensor for the price I was willing to pay -and so I purchased at Amazon the D5200, it has worked perfectly so far. By december 2013 it was obvious that I needed a full frame camera (an "FX" camera with a "full size" 24mm x 36mm sensor). I read several tests on the internet. I read on the internet lot of reviews saying that the D610 was great. The DxOMark tests were in accord with the "test images" that I had seen in several websites. DxOMark in those days gave a very high rating to the Nikon D600 sensor which, as far as I know, is the same sensor as the D610. Here there is an old review that I read then: http://petapixel.com/2012/09/21/nikon-d600-sensor-found-by-dxomark-to-be-elite-and-3rd-best-ever/ In the DxOMark ratings in that old review it seems that they never take into account PIXEL SIZE. The D610 has 24 megapixels in a 24mm x 36mm "full frame" sensor. The Nikon D800 and D800E have 36 megapixels in a sensor that has the same size ("full frame"). So the D610 sensor has a BIGGER PIXEL than the Nikon D800 and D800E. The bigger the pixel the less the noise, the bigger the pixel the better the image. Eventough Nikon D800 and D800E have much more pixels I think having BIGGER PIXELS (as the D610 has) is important. The Nikon D800 and D800E have slighly better performance in the DxOMark tests shown before but In my humble opinion the BIGGER PIXEL SIZE is a big plus for the D610 when compared to the D800 and D800E. Of course, If you crop a lot your photos you will prefer a 36 megapixel sensor (as in the D800 and D800E). It seems that the Nikon D800 and D800E have better flash performance because they can use faster shutter speeds. That probably is a plus for the D800's. The D800 and D800E cost about $700 - $1000 more then the D610 and the D610 is just SUPERB!!! I think it is not worth it to buy a D800 unless you crop a lot. I will probably buy another D610 soon because I find it is a GREAT VALUE and EXCELLENT QUALITY. ZERO PROBLMS SO FAR! -- End of UPDATE]]] The Nikon D600 had serious problems and many negative comments here are about the D600. The D610 seems to have fixed very well those problems. I am very very happy with this machine. It is a great value: Absolute superb quality at prices that may be called consumer-prices and not professional exorbitant prices. I repeat that the machine has been through intense use many days -not all the time- under heavy tropical sun and sand, in boats and cars, etc. Superb machine. Superb performance for the dollar. Thanks Nikon! ... show more

  • I really wanted to like the D610
Style: w/ 24-85mm Set: Base
After reading numerous reviews and looking at various comparisons between this camera and the Canon 6D I have decided to jump ship and purchase the D610 assuming that the same problems that were experienced on the D600 were gone. However, it seems that this camera did have a dust problem with its sensor. Judging by the pictures I have taken I don't think it was as bad as the issues experienced with the D600 but there was an issue non the less. I ended up sending the camera back to amazon for an exchange, the replacement they sent me had the same issue that occurred even sooner, with less shots, and the dust was in greater numbers. After experiencing the same issue with the exchange I decided to send it back and get a refund which I used to purchase the Canon 6D. I really wanted to like this camera. The pictures looked good, the camera had a ton of functionality, it felt and looked good, and the amount of features you get for the price was unmatched. However since I primarily shoot landscape pictures the dust appearing in the upper left hand corner was really bugging me. I have had my Canon 6D for a few weeks now and the only dust I have seen in my pictures was what was on the lens itself and sensor remained clean despite using the Canon to take pictures at the Salt Flats in Utah during a really windy and dusty day. ... show more

Style: w/ 24-85mm Set: Base
I ordered a D610 and received it on Jan 26th. Charged up the battery and tried to use it. Viewfinder was very blurry, could not be resolved by using the diopler adjustment. Called Amazon and they sent me another one ASAP. I was to have UPS pick up the package at my home. I picked up the second one at the UPS office on Jan 28th. Again camera has a blurry viewfinder. Spoke to several people at Nikon Service. Nothing they had me try worked. They wanted me to send it in, to them, for repair. I did not want to wait a couple of months for this. Contacted Amazon to return the 2nd one, tried to change to get a D800. 2 strikes and the 610 was out. Amazon said I had to return the 2nd camera at my expense, It has been sent back costing me over $47. I lost my home to a fire on Dec 11th, need a camera to get back to doing some work, until insurance replaces my lost equipment. • Great FX Format Camera Body for the Price
Style: w/ 24-85mm Set: Base
Had this for about a year now, so can do a more detailed review. Pros: Competitively priced FX format ("35mm") or larger sensor size than DX format. Book is easy to understand which is good because the camera has so many features, you'll probably be going back to it from time to time. Battery life is also very good unless you're in habit of using "Live View" feature all the time. ("Live View" means you can compose your shot using the LCD screen rather than viewfinder.) Respectable editing software built into camera. Together with ViewNX2 software, don't use Photoshop 10 nearly as often as times past. Accepts older Nikkor "D" series glass! I have an obscene amount of money invested in these lenses and this is where DSLR cameras beat "point & shoot" cameras, smartphones, and tablets hands down. Smartphones might be unbeatable for convenience & spur of the moment shots, but still can't compete with interchangeable lenses imo. Cons: "P" or 'program' mode has some presets, but doesn't seem to do much of anything that can't be done with shutter, aperture, or manual mode. That could easily be a plus though if just learning photography. Built in flash is OK, but as you get "the bug" (and be warned: you probably will!) chances are, you'll want more than just a pop-up flash. I chose a Metz 58 AF-2 but plenty of dedicated flashes out there for all budgets. ... show more

  • Dust issue not really fixed !! Nikon wants only sales, not customers
Style: w/ 24-85mm Set: Base
I am a veteran Nikon user, since the days when they had only Film SLRs. When they screwed up on the D600, I was upset. But then they said they fixed it with the D610. Mistakes happen, I understand, so I upgraded to the D610. It is hardly 4 months and I find the same sensor dust issue with the D610 as well !! Now this really is upsetting and sad. It is as if all the good guys from their Quality control team have left and all the bad guys have got hired into their sales team. Their support sucks - they would not even respond to the complaint about dust issue with my D610. I know we can clean the sensor, anybody can clean any sensor, but I would rather be shooting in the field with a trusted camera. Nikon just lost one of their most loyal evangelist. • I have completely lost faith in Nikon with the D610
Style: w/ 24-85mm Set: Base
After having some challenges with my last Nikon (D300), I thought it might have been an isolated issue. I was very excited to order and receive my Nikon D610 thinking the issues with the D600 were resolved. However, out of the box, the viewfinder was completely blurry.....couldn't see a thing. Tried adjusting with the diopter control, looked on Nikon support site, and nothing worked to correct it. After doing some research online, it appears I'm not the only one to have this issue. I was also unhappy with the lens hood included with the 24-85mm lens. It was so loose, it kept rotating around and fell off a few times. I REALLY wanted to like this camera and there are a lot things I like about Nikon, but feel their quality has really suffered in the last few years. With the price of the Canon 6D dropping today, I'm sending this Nikon back and moving to Canon. I have always felt the brands were close, but this has put me over the edge toward Canon. ... show more
