  • Helps even a newbie capture great candid shots
I'm an absolute amateur and find using the Sports Mode to be INVALUABLE at capturing the shots I just couldn't catch with our old camera and how long it took between shutter clicks. I don't have to worry about blur and we wind up with amazing candid moments we can then provide to the person in the pictures. I purchased this as a kit after borrowing a D3300 and loving that, and this one is far and away the better camera. I highly recommend buying one of the double battery fast chargers and additional batteries. Sports Mode does go through the battery faster, but I bought five batteries and they're worth every penny. I also got the dummy battery that allows you to plug the camera in to an outlet and will be putting that to good use at an upcoming event. Getting this camera as a kit allowed me to get the pieces I need to just start point & shooting, and learn enough to put the other goodies in the kit to use. I was intimidated by the idea of trying to pick out what lenses and accessories I might need. The camera body itself is noticeably lighter than previous models, which is great when you're wearing it around your neck all day. The kit was missing a cable and I'm not usually one to bother calling to point that out, but Amazon customer service rocked the call and I was able to get the right cable with the credit they applied to my account. My daughter is a much better photographer than I am and loves this camera too. Being able to download pics through the app directly onto our phones means we can actually text the picture we just took to the person in them upon request. We haven't done much video with the camera yet, but I doubt we'll be disappointed. A huge component of what we're out there doing with this llama (Caesar The No Drama Llama, btw) is providing hugs and pics for free and this camera means we're able to provide, free of charge, quality candid shots as well as posed images to the llamas two legged friends and help ensure their moment of joy while meeting him is captured and can be treasured. The only real issue is that the sticky pad that connects the little cord for the lens cover to the lens cover doesn't stick well - partially because the lens cover doesn't have a perfectly flat spot to attach it and I've had to replace the sticky pad several times, though now it seems to be staying in place. I love that it can go into battery saving mode without turning off when not in use at an event but that I can still just point and shoot it and it 'wakes up' immediately and begins snapping pics without the hassle of waiting for it to turn on and reset. It has a lot of features I'm still learning how to use, including built in filters and retouching. Five batteries are serving us very well even on days when we're taking pictures for five or more hours. As I said, Sports Mode goes through the batteries faster, but is totally worth it for me. I could see buying another double battery charger with two more batteries still being worth the $ for some of our longer events. Being able to view pics taken and delete them helps when I forget to ask before taking pics and the person would prefer no pictures, I can show them as I delete them and put their mind at ease. The high definition resolution means I can take a pic from across the park of a squirrel, zoom into the small area he's in and wind up with a picture of a squirrel filling the frame and no pixels or blur. I love, love, love this camera and the accessories the kit came with and others available on Amazon. Would buy again and again. Hope I don't have to though! ... show more

  • Perfect first camera!
This was my very first camera I purchased, and I love it! It is fairly easy to use, and figure out all the advanced features. I took some classes to learn things in more detail. I feel confident using this to take any pictures!

  • IN LOVE with this camera and set!
I shopped for a camera to use for travel and the fun of it - not to be a professional, but to be a mediocre hobbyist. The D3500 was the option recommended by most sources for newbies to DSLR, so I went with it. Bought this particular set because it seemed to have everything - and it does, in fact, have more than I could possibly learn to use right away! It's awesome! And the refurbishment was pristine. No issues whatsoever. I looked at a brand new option, and the camera with one lens only was more than this set! I am super impressed with the prompt shipping, the item exactly as sold, all of the items that came with it, and the quality of the device itself. I took some amazing shots on a recent trip, and it's making me think I might not be mediocre after all - but that's the equipment, not me! I'd definitely buy again, and HIGHLY recommend exactly this device set and seller to anyone looking to go beyond a smartphone and into DSLRs. ... show more

  • Best purchase I've made!
The media could not be loaded. Glad I was able to get myself a good camera and have taken lots of great photos with it. The video limit is up to 10 minutes, which isn't great for filming videos and such, unless you do a series of short videos or whatever. The bag that came with it is perfect for all my camera gear!! ... show more

  • Mixed bag.
I probably paid too much for my camera bundle, was in a hurry. Despite that the camera and lenses were in great shape and work flawlessly. I did have several small issues with package items shown but not delivered. The vendor responded quickly and we settled all issues. This is my second purchase of a refurbished electronic item. I must say, if you have some doubts start out small but I have to say that both items arrived and performed as a good as any new item. I am very impressed and can see the ability to save a good bit of money by going this route. ... show more

  • Amazing starter camera for sure. Guide mode amazing. More than what you pay for!!
I just received this today! And I’m pretty excited. Picture quality seems great. Slowly figuring stuff out (I’m at work and a total camera noob). I’ve only tried out the attached lens in the images (18-50mm) and am going to go to a local park to check stuff out more. A friend said that it’s a great camera for the price. And so far? It is! Usually cheap means you get what you pay for, but with this guy? I think it’s a more option! For those curious...... SnapBridge is a bit slow when downloading images from camera. But it works. I’m so glad I bought this camera. Images of camera were taken on my iPhone. The others were at work. The one with Deadpool was slightly edited with snapseed app. ... show more

  • Great DLSR bundle
I absolutely love this camera and all its features! Very lightweight and easy to use. Enjoy all the 'extra's that came with it with the exception of the remote shutter release! I'm not sure why this would be added to the bundle for the Nikon D3500 when this camera doesn't have an IR. Therefore the remote shutter release is worthless for this camera as it will not work with it. It would have been nicer to have another SD card with perhaps more storage than the one provided. Overall, I love this camera, love the lens that came with it and it will be a good starting point for any beginner to build on! ... show more

  • Great value as an entry level camera
It doesn't have the bells and whistles of a camera that costs $1,000 more but the picture quality is just as good. The package of lenses and filters that come with it give great flexibility for indoor and outdoor picture-taking. I carry mine in a kayak often. I have less heartburn carrying a less expensive camera out in the snow or on the water. That it takes great pictures is a plus. I've never lost a camera in the water yet but you never know! I got a great shot from the seat of my kayak of a Bald eagle perched in a tree onshore thanks to the long telephoto and 2x adapter. Check out the photo. ... show more
